I drive my cars about 50-70 miles a month, and only on drives where I can get them up to full temperature for at least 30-45 minutes to make sure everything cycles. I even roll the windows up and down to make sure the motors get to run.
These issues are related to age, not mileage. The low mileage doesn't stop the clock and the cars we are working on in this video are 20 years old or more. Don't get me wrong, you can break stuff by being hard on a car but keeping the miles low and driving it gently doesn't stop things from wearing out over time. Lyle :)
Wow, Lyle! 260,000 miles on your C5. YOU.DA.MAN! I’m impressed. Where do you go driving? Do you go east out of Sarasota? Do you take it on long trips? I live in the NW exurbs of San Antonio and there are lots of hilly, scenic day trips out here in the Texas Hill Country. Great places to drop the top on my 2003 50th Anniversary convertible. BTW, now that I have the new Shale visors and the gas struts for the trunk and tonneau cover, I’ve got some work to do. Given that I ordered them during Hurricane Milton, I was amazed at how quickly I got them! Figured it may be weeks rather than days!
@@brianaugust1594 you have a point. When it’s new, it’s great but as it ages, it becomes a bigger problem. The C4 was designed to be an icon, you can fix a fuel pump really easily on a C4. I hate to tell you what a nightmare a C5/6/7 is.
Torque tube replacement. Yikes! ... Power draw from the passenger seat?! Wow. I often see discussions in the Facebook groups about phantom power draws. Recently, I read one where the key fob battery would last only 2 or 3 months.
Me as well, in the finger lakes area. I was disappointed when the corvette barn shut down. Closest thing we had to C&S around us. But these guys are a stand-up group of guys.
there are so many torque tube kits, I was wondering what C and S used, so I looked up the video on the subject. A kit was mentioned, but I am not familiar with GM selling parts that way. I am still curious but assume they use GM parts, even though quality options are readily available .
Hey Lyle, seems you guys do torque tube work every now and then. Do you guys see a lot more C7s needing torque tube repairs or is it on par with the frequency for the C5s and C6s?
Couldn't help to notice the lift arms are not on the pucks/jacking points. Can you suggest the best place? My 2015 Z06 has to sit well back on my lift to have the arms reach correctly. My rear arm on my lift is longer than the front so that one determines where the car has to go. Unless I change the lift arms, I really can't comfortably use the jacking points. I tend to want to use the rear frame points near suspension but not sure what the best places are. Love your videos and I watch them all the time up here in NH. Sadly, soon we put them away. :(
Lyle, I have a beautiful 2007 Atomic Orange ZO6. It has 37,000 miles on it. (Pampered Miles). When the time comes to replace the clutch what kind of money am i talking?
The Front Engine Kit consists of an SFI-rated Balancer, New GM balancer bolt, Balancer Pin Kit, Front Crank Seal, Both belt tensioners, both idler pulleys and both belts. :) Lyle
I have a 2006 C6 Z06 with about 43,000 miles. What do you guys charge for clutch remote bleeder and torque tube rebuild the car is mainly street driven every once in a while I autocross the car has West Coast Cylinder Heads a full exhaust and a small Tune
If you are going to replace the clutch master and rebuild the torque tube, you will also want to replace the rear main seal plate and the clutch (unless it is less than a year old). This is also the time to address any of the leaks you may have on the transmission or the differential. Call me for cost--that way I'm only pricing the things that you want to do during this procedure. Lyle 800-886-5064
I bought the kit for C6 automatic sticking in park kit. What is the piece in there? Is it plastic with a thin bent metal strip on it. I didn’t see it in the videos.
Hey Lyle, have you stopped doing C4s? My 1994 beauty is in the shop and it needs a rebuilt 6 speed transmission as it sounds like it’s grinding rocks. Do you know where I can get one?

Fantastic video, showcases the ability’s of your shop, thank you.
Hi to the gang Lyle. Job well done
Lyle, please elaborate the reasons such low mileage cars would need manual transmission work.
All those issues on low mileage cars! Would they last longer if they were driven more?? 😢

I volunteer to help keep them driving!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Just rolled 112,000 on my C6.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My question is the same as a few others. Why do these low mileage cars need major mechanical work?
Great video! I cannot believe how hard you all work. Good job Lyle😊

Love the shop tours!
And THATS Exactly why I Love My Low mile C4s…NO Torque Tube BS…Worst Design EVER!! I can only Imagine what That Costs to Fix…Great Video Lyle👍🏆

If I lived closer your shop would be my go to ( I live in upstate NY ) . Loving the more frequent updates . Great job !

@billfleming8281 I have no information on them, unfortunately.

Hello Lyle, please, is it common to refurbish torque tubes on C5 only after 20-30 thousand miles or so ??😳
Mine is 140k auto and I don’t know if it was done, I don’t think so.
Thanks Lyle! I really enjoy these shop tour videos! Sure glad I'm subscribed to your channel!!😊👍
Bertha and torque tube - that’s pure genius!!
Really love this Lyle
I enjoy and learned so much watching your videos thanks. I sure wished I lived closer.

hi Lyle so why do the low mile corvettes both need torque tubes already?
Looking forward to seeing it
great tour, thanks

What is involved in a C5 "front engine kit"??
Do you rebuild differentials there and have them be quiet?

Robin is in Port Charlotte. But her Vette is still in Ohio
Low mileage clutch jobs??? I can understand some parts like the rubber couple can age but a clutch at low mileage is a driver training issue.
Could be some really rough track use.
