Absolutely love this one Smoothie. Really looking forward to watching the full tutorial over on your great value for money Patreon page and having a go at this. Ink and graphite are one of my favourite combinations. This has turned out awesome on the cold press. Thanks for posting and I encourage anyone wanting to learn a multitude of drawing and watercolour painting techniques, Smoothie77 is the place to join over on Patreon.
@@smoothie77drawingpainting your art is amazing it really inspires me and makes me want to try harder in my artworks. just thinking about doing a big artwork that's full of detail really excites me
For years I would do my sketches in pencil and then go back over with India Ink, using a wooden pen with interchangeable nibs. Once the ink was good and dry I would erase the pencil. Made some half-way decent ink sketches. Never went back with any pencil for shading or highlighting. Bummer! After watching this video I have a new to me technique to try. Thank you. And thank you for the video. A very fine sketch I must say. Love the detail and the perspective.
You are not normal? Perhaps you are eccentric, but the way I see it, you are more mature than most people. Thank God for that. Your channel is by far my favorite art channel because you are a genuine person and a real artist. Your honesty, unpretentious nature, and the ability to communicate clearly without any BS is rare on youtube.
Thanks Alan, that a kind compliment coming from an artist as good as you! I'm looking forward to your next video, always a treat to see your fantastic watercolours.
✍🏻✍🏻✍🏻 Lovely inspiration for troubled times… accompanied by the voice of peace. ✍🏻 ✍🏻✍🏻 BEAUTIFUL WORK in less than 8 YEARS! 🥳 As always, thank you. 🙏🏻
One day I'll be half as good of an artist as you are. You always make it look so easy. When I try to replicate some of your drawings it looks nowhere near your finished pieces. Keep up the good work my friend. Thank you!
Hi, I’ve only now been recommended your channel by TH-cam. Have watched a few of your videos and enjoy watching your drawings and paintings come to life. So, you have a new subscriber from Scotland 👍🏻🎨🖌
Interestingly I have just bought myself a Lamy pen which I am looking forward to trying out along with a Duke fude pen. As for not being normal I would never worry about it. It's those who profess to be normal I avoid.
Gorgeous work. I'm a pen and ink artist, but I haven't tried using graphite with ink much. I love the effect, and you're correct, stippling takes forever. The watercolor paper is a neat idea as well.
i experimented with graphite and ink before but never really satisfied with the result, mainly because the color of graphite never really match with the ink. then i found a method to make thin textured shading using thin fountain pen and dryer ink (platinum desk pen and platinum carbon ink) on rougher paper like you also mentioned in the video, i like the result! cold press + ink is the way 😂
I love the effect you got with a fountain pen on that paper. I've been using fountain pens for about half my pen and ink drawings for a long time, and dip pens for the other half, but never on paper like that. I have four sheets of very heavy, highly textured 9x12 watercolor paper that might be perfect. I have a bunch of Strathmore paper, but these four sheets were in the back of a how-to book from about fifty years ago. I found the book in a thrift store, and paid two dollars for it. Those four sheets of watercolor paper, and four more of mixed media paper, were worth more that. I've been looking for an excuse to use them, and this may be it.
I can see how the texture really helped with the graphite, as well as the softness of the grass with the pen. There are no rules in art. Some like to try to establish them, more to support their own techniques than anything else or to degrade the work of others, but when you go outside the normal magic can happen. If something isn't working for you by all means look for suggestions but if you are happy then use whatever you like.
This is lovely, I now have the new pens in place and hopefully ready to go on Monday . I’m so glad the different hills are in graphite I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the next decade doing them I know! I’m really looking forward to starting this, and whilst I know it will be a long drawing it will ease me back in for other much longer ones. Thankyou for all you do for us on Patreon you are so imaginative and innovative that it’s a joy to not only try and keep up with you but to learn new techniques too in various mediums
Thank you for your kind words Margaret, they are always greatly appreciated! I hope you enjoy drawing this one, although it takes a bit of time and patience, its an enjoyable one to do, I know you'll do a lovely job of this one.
All your videos are great inspiration for me as im drawing alot with graphite myself, but can u increase the volume when youre talking? I have to up the volume very high.

The pen strokes are easy, its the patience needed that's the difficult bit :)

Thanks for the comment, I like the look of ink and graphite, I think if use in the right places it can look fantastic, each to their own I guess :)
Toujours finement travaillé, avec tous ces détails , bien réussi.
Thank you Diane!

I couldn't have said it better myself, great comment!
@@smoothie77drawingpainting I know an artist who uses his fountain pens upside down for that broken super fine line. If it works.. it works.
@@waymire01 Thanks, yes I do the same sometimes, it can give a very fine line.

Do you have a video with close up view of how you do your trees and bushes? They seem to be mainly pointillism? They have such great volume.

Simplesmente admirável. Amo esse tipo de obra de arte. Sempre fantástico parabéns professor show 👏👏👏
Thank you Carlos!
Perfect..as always. I barely trust myself with a pencil, much less a ink. I'd have a heart attack before getting it done.

Stippling does not take as long as you might think.
