I did that last week when some out of towners came sniffing around asking where the public boat launch on our lake was. I hope they enjoyed their time at the City Dump.

@@Adriana-eu6ty It was the 90s. I was a punk teenager living at Lake Tahoe. I was walking down the street and a tourist pulled up and asked me, "How do I get to Lake Tahoe?" But he pronounced it "Taho-ee". So I gave him directions to Reno.

Conan being a huge fan of astronomy is one of the reasons that I really liked him.
If I ever get the chance to meet him I'm totally going to buy a book, or gadget, or something astronomy related to give him. He'll either laugh, or be extremely confused since he doesn't remember this at all.
The bit about the page game now makes me wonder if that isnt just tour guides in general and Im thinking back to how many guided tours Ive been on where they were clearly just spouting bullshit for their own personal entertainment, and how many dumb nuggets of that bullshit got lodged in my brain over the years. It explains a lot.
I worked with a lady who used to be a traffic cop before she quit to get into graphic design, and she had some unsettling anecdotes about games cops would play with each other when they got bored. Like let's see who can pull over the most blue cars in one shift. Also be extremely careful at the end of the month, they've got quotas to reach.

In High School my French Class and Art History class took a joint field to see a Toulouse-Lautrec show at the local Art History Museum, the entire tour group got kicked out because my group (having just finished 2 months of study specifically on Toulouse-Lautrec himself) was correcting the tour guide whenever she made mistakes (or was making things up?)
The teachers where disappointed we had to leave early, but no one got in trouble, HAHA.
I once catered ice cream when Conan was on the tonight show. All the interns told me the same thing that they can't look Conan in the eye. Both Andy and Conan actually came down to get ice cream and hung around and chatted both me and my ex-girlfriend who was helping me serve and the interns were amazed that he hung out with us

My guess would be that they earn more from having us listen to the podcast ads than the TH-cam ones.
Because then their podcast downloads would decrease and it wouldn't be profitable which would probably result in the podcast ending. There's no money in youtube so no revenue to pay employees and business costs.
Such a shame Sona wasn't there. We probably wouldn't be able to handle both Sona and Aubrey on the podcast.
Funny you say that, because in Sona’s book she mentions doing the same thing as an NBC paige 🤪

@@watchmecatchpike7145 According to her BFI and OffCameraShow interviews, it's not that she plays a character on talk shows so much as that talk shows make her uncomfortable because it's really different from her background in improv and also really different from acting work. It makes sense that you'd act differently in this more private and natural podcast compared to when there are bright lights pointed at you and thousands of people watching your every move while you're expected to fake a conversation about personal stuff.
I'm also grateful for the chance to see more of her real personality shine in this clip though. She's so fascinating.

I remember the Conan interrupting studios tours and they made up information about the show during the writer's strike. TeamCoco needs to upload that entire writers strike period of segments.
I suspect a lot of those, "don't make eye contact with the actor" wasn't actually at the request of the actor, just some station supervisor, but the actor gets the blame for it, or can.
She is brilliant! I have enjoyed her performances in everything I have seen her in.
If you’re filming all these podcasts could you please release the whole thing to TH-cam or somewhere? It will make the podcast more popular, a lot of people prefer watching podcasts

the "it's always sunny" podcast is so entertaining because they do that. And they call their listeners "listeners" and their watchers "creeps" lol.
video length is a big part of the TH-cam algorithm. it's all by design.

@@lenhister There is a good chance Conan is also banking this content for the future. He is pretty savvy about his content rights.
The TH-cam algorithm would murder their revenues if they made videos longer than 20 min. They would need to make a second channel for longer content and they usually make significantly less.

I'll be 41 in Feb and bit howdy am I feeling the midlife feels. It's a reassuring combo of confidence and humility, a sense that I've seen enough to truly know my worth and my limits. I wouldn't call it joyful, but it's grounded. No idea on habits and practices, other than trusting yourself and your instincts. We've reached an age where that isn't quite so delusional.

When I worked at some of the large festivals in Europe, I had the opportunity to sit down and eat with some of the bands performing and often their riders came up in discussion, usually started with me asking if the tech I installed was operating correctly and if they needed anything else.
I was one of the techs that provided IT and gaming related parts of the riders on top of doing general IT related engineering and with that had read all the riders and knew what was in them.
Several of them were completely flabbergasted with what was actually in their riders because these things are often provided by agents and studios and only partially by the artists themselves.
So yeah, celebs have to deal with a lot of "oh someone told me you don't like green M&Ms" kinda shite someone else made up about them.

I hate that micromanagement BS - not decently treating people like people and telling them they should never make eye contact with the stars. I understand not distracting them and chatting them up if they are busy but not making eye contact is ridiculous. I'd have a grand time working in one of those roles after working in public safety - none of their 'the stars are holier than thou' crap would work on me because none of their jobs deserves more deference than the ones I've worked with previously hehe. Wonder how fast I could get fired 😆

Matt jokingly mispronounced Regis Philbin after Conan mispronounced Tig Notaro's name when she was a guest and now Aubrey Plaza mispronounced it for real. Funny coincidence.
The astronomy explanation sounds as tho it was passed down in pagedom from the Carson days since it was true in his case.

It's easy. I was a page at CBS here in L.A back in 92-95. It's actually encouraged. People come in for game shows, studio tappings, etc. They specifically come in to be entertained.

5:50 Yeah, that happens. I once toured briefly as a piano improvisator with a relatively famous poetess. Before this tour, we had a first concert together a year ago in my home town. This time we played again in my home town, then we went by train to another town along with tour manager and his assistant and his wife. It was a fun trip. It was a long 8 hours trip, you know, all cozy and homey. We fooled around a bit. Then we played this way in two more big cities. And the plan was that for the fourth town another tour management will pick us up and drove to his town. So, we drove for an hour, and then on a next gas-station this tour manager said to me secretly "hey, when we made a deal with her she ask for the ride to be silent, so don't talk with her" I'm like "whaaa" thinking "well, I know who is not going to make my tour in this city next time". Those people love to create some weird environment around famous people to fill special about themselves.
she's right about the studio though, it does look like some weird Laser tag Space Sex Dungeon.

Aubrey's facial expression always looks like she is plotting a murder. But, of course in a very surreptitious way. Also, it is true that NBC pages make stuff up because I was once a paid customer on one of the NBC tours and our page actually said when we entered Conan's studio that a lounge sofa on the side (which was actually I'm sure a prop sofa) was supposedly the sofa where Andy Richter took naps when his lower back was hurting from an accident he suffered in college while pole vaulting. And I don't see anything on the internet of Andy even touching a pole vault. Actually, imagining Andy flying through the air in his suit is probably a worse fear to me than COVID.

I hate people being labelled (especially children) and how that affects and limits us. I am also, however, a great fan of trying to take responsibility for myself and my emotions, as I too recognise my crap and how it can burden others :)
