    Haven’t watched, but I listened to the podcast on Sunday. All the advice I’ve seen on deferring state pension contradicts this. Although your friend was on the pre 2016 rules and that was a different and much better deal. Most say never defer. If you’re still working and concerned about tax just take the pension and pay it into a SIPP. You get back the tax you’ve been charged and it can grow. It also means that should you die it’s paid out to beneficiaries.
