I really appreciate that a lot of the modded events aren't just blunt memes and references shoved in your face (even if some are, admittedly, though I think it could be because he's using two different mods and one of them is just meant to be more humorous than the other) and are instead more cleverly woven into the style and flavour of the game itself. You don't need to know what some of these things are referencing to still appreciate the freaky, unsettling and mysterious vibes of a lot of the events (Kappa Scoot, the spider room, the Blood Bagel, etc.). This is how you mod a game like this, in my opinion; try to make the events fit with the overall vanilla experience, elevating it without compromising the narrative vibe it's trying to achieve. If you're in the know, you get the references and can have a chuckle, but even if you're not, it still genuinely adds to the overall experience in a positive way. The devs of these mods did a fantastic job.

Yeah you really summed up how I felt about the mods too, really good blend of stream memes and just good events that fit the game perfectly. The Kappa Scoot was perfect, I was afraid it was all gonna be like "Scoot makes you smoke weed and you die". The art was amazing and the events were written really well. I wouldn't even have known if half of them were vanilla events or not- if I didn't know the mods were loaded up.
For real, i hope the devs watch this stream's vod in particular to get some ideas of new stuff to add, some of the enemies had such amazing art and concept, they really could be in the vanilla game.
@Aces Spades Shadowgate was the shit, though you're kind of stuck having to choose between the old Mac versions without any music, and the NES/GBC versions which have the totally sick music, but no mouse.
The most scariest part of the game is that protagonist is still standing and talks even despite of having some pulping injuries like gaping chest wound, muscles torn apart and bloodied lungs.
@@DangerZone200 I mean it’s a world where cursed cartridge that can glitch your entire reality exist with a old god somewhere in the distance getting resurrected a human being more resilient than usual isn’t that much out of the ordinary
So a bit of history of the game in relation to the mask bit. In earlier builds of the game there was a massive cheesy bug where if you had that mask and another c slot item you swap the two items and the reduction would stick permanently as the devs didn't program in the game taking away the reduction when the mask was removed. This meant that you could cheese the game due to having infinite doom. Later the devs did patch this and what you are seeing is their "patch" to get back at anyone who still thought the bug was still in the game and tried to cheese the run.
I mean, it also fits with the Aka Manto character because, in his true form, he takes off the mask and has no face. I'm partial to assuming this was intended all along and they just didn't initially program it in until later, what with this being in early-access and all.
@@Armameteus I mean it fits, but I think it wasn't initially intentional because back when the game first released it was MONTHS before that bug got patched with many more patches coming out before it was eventually patched. I think that it was one of those " slip on a banana peel and do a backflip and land it" sort of deals where it wasn't intended, but it fit so well the devs could have easily just gone " Yup that was intentional 100%" and no one would question it unless you knew the context of just how long the bug itself was left in and that the effect of taking off the mask is so punishing that the devs knew why they did it, and it wasn't continuity.
Its a shame that the penalty is so steep for people who DONT know. Youd think a simple warning message when you attempt to take the mask off, and a second confirmation like; "I feel a tight tugging at the edge of my cheeks. Should I really take this off?"
@@brosephnoonan223 ngl it felt pretty bad when I did that storyline as my 5th one in a hard run after not playing it really for a few months and went "wonder if this still works" and tried it and saw my stats drop by 2. As a normal play I probably would have been pissed, but as someone who actually found and reported the cheese during the earlier builds I couldn't even be mad at it I just kinda laughed at how absurdly punishing it was. Mainly because it felt like the devs were staring me down and going " You know what you just tried to do don't even pretend like you didn't"

Friendhsaped, you have corruption_enm cloned a bunch of times, but the game treats them as separate cards - that's why they are always at the top of the stack for the random generator, they will always show up a lot of times.

They should *not* be appearing outside of their respective gods, because we have god specific events and enemies in the base game. It might have been seed memes, but it could also be a bug. We'll probably run through it to see how likely it is, as well as ask the modding community.

Man, I thought Vinny was gonna do one mod for like each stream, but mashing the two together was actually a better idea for the sheer whiplash of the more meme-y ones from World of Sauce and the more horror aspect from Vine of Horror. Well played to both of the mod teams for sticking to the nature of the game too! The Brainiac one would especially fit well into the Vanilla game.

I think it's a side effect of her torso being too wide on the right (sticks out too far from the edge of her shoulder/armpit) and too skinny on the left (following her neck, it ends almost in line with her spine), combined with the fact that her arm is too outwardly extended (it should be shorter and closer to her torso) My guess is that whoever drew her wanted to show a hint of robertsons to emphasize that the character is a girl, but with all the odd anatomy, it came down to a choice between barely visible under-robertsons that were mostly covered by her arm or the excessive topside robertsons that we see here. Anatomy and perspective are honestly just a pain like that sometimes, one little incorrect thing can throw off everything else Either that or they really just wanted to give her some Mega Mirk-ers

If endless mode draws from all pools, that is likely the reason why they popped up one after another. Seed memes, but also, our own mod memes.

We just had news that we will most likely have Character Modding, actually. I think you all know what comes next when that time comes... I also heard there may be Custom Events > Custom Enemy in the works for modding as well, since currently, enemies and events are solely self contained, and events cannot lead to enemies. Scoot > Kappa Scoot was merely the luckiest coincidence in the history of coincidences, but that's pretty par for the course for Vinny, I think.

At 7:09, and don't quote me on this because there are some marked differences and it might not be intentional, the symbol on her shirt looks similar to the 'Yellow Sign', from Lovecraftian mythology. It's used by Hastur's cult for the members to identify one another.
Its nice that the vinesauce community is so quock to create content, even if I still think Vinny should have put off modding the game for a little bit longer.
So I'd not watched any of this series. Sorta passed me by but I was like 'hm I wonder what this is. Oh look a vinesauce mod version with funny meat worm as the thumbnail, this'll be funny!' I was very sharply reminded this is a horror game.
This fucking girl loses the skin and muscles around her ribs, leaving them exposed while passed out in a dark dank room full of spiders after tripping hard and just walks it off.
for vinny / other ppl wondering, the charisma weapon is getting all your buddies together and beating the f outta them you can consistently get ~14 a hit, with the idol's "fame" perk reduce attack speed, just mash attack and kill ppl in one round. damage is second only to the hunting rifle
I watched this first and thought that was part of the mod and was amazed (and very glad) to find out it was actually in the game when I played as her for the first time
i still dont understand the ending to the vigil mystery. it says two must die, but didnt you kill three (the two possessed guests and the one you stabbed at the end)? or if you didnt kill the possessed guests, just defeated them, then you only killed one? and whos the other that lived? the uncle?
I'm not sure when or if it has been patched, but you can sorta cheese avoiding the massive hole-face debuff by throwing the mask in a combat encounter.

with just a couple exceptions, the art and writing for the stuff in this mod really fits in well with the game, they did a good job

for vinny / other ppl wondering, the charisma weapon is getting all your buddies together and beating the f outta them
you can consistently get ~14 a hit, with the idol's "fame" perk reduce attack speed, just mash attack and kill ppl in one round. damage is second only to the hunting rifle

i still dont understand the ending to the vigil mystery. it says two must die, but didnt you kill three (the two possessed guests and the one you stabbed at the end)? or if you didnt kill the possessed guests, just defeated them, then you only killed one? and whos the other that lived? the uncle?

I'm not sure when or if it has been patched, but you can sorta cheese avoiding the massive hole-face debuff by throwing the mask in a combat encounter.
