- Happy belated July 4th! I’m celebrating by making a patriotic, fireworks-inspired pendulum pour.
I started by spray-painting my canvas with a navy blue chalk paint. Then for the pendulum paints, I mixed them with untinted house paint, floetrol, and water. Here’s the paint-mixing tutorial! • BEST Pendulum Pour Rec...
Metallic Blue (Artist’s Loft)
Metallic Pearlessence (Creative Inspirations)
Metallic Red (Craft Smart)
The paints I used in this video were all metallic paints, which unfortunately don’t flow quite as well as standard acrylics. For metallics it might be better to add 3 parts of house paint to help it really hold together, while you then thin it with water as necessary.

Aw thank you! Yes, definitely give it a go, it’s a lot of fun!
Happy Belated Independence Day! Glad to see 2 premieres from you today also right choice using a dark color canvase instead of white to see the metallic colors very well no i never tried doing pendulum pours but i wish in the future especially the red color where it looks like a vortex
Next year of the 4th of july try doing fireworks but use a new style technique you haven't tried yet
Thanks!
My first thought was fireworks. Such an interesting technique. I found you through left brain artist. I’m learning more than I knew I needed to learn. So thank you.
Aw thank you! Yes pendulum pours are really fun!
Love the drippy lines really looks like little spinner fireworks
Thank you! I love it too!
Anna this is amazing
Thank you!
Anna.. just a thought to know that the viscosity of the paint is where you want it.. try to draw a circle on a scrap of paper the size of a dime, put 3 drips of paint in the center and see how fast the cross the lines. This is a great way to check your flow and adjust before starting the painting... just a thought to share.. Brian
Thanks Brian, I do drip tests for Dutch pours! For something like this I’m not sure that flowing down a piece of paper would mimic the flow out of a bottle nozzle, though.
Love it Anna ❤
Thanks Jeanette!
