    Thank you :). I’m looking into switching to tech writing over the next year or two. I’ve been doing clearance background investigations for a decade (talk to people, take notes, type reports). Not quite tech writing, but I do interact with people of all walks of life every day and type it up, so in a way it seems similar (communicate, gather info, report). I was thinking of taking a couple of courses in tech writing online (I have a bachelors in English) and then start volunteering to write technical documents if I can find the opportunity . I am only going to use your channel for guidance because your because a prior video of yours mirrored my own thoughts. I figured certs weren’t super important and I’m learning python, which you recommended lol. I also want to learn other programming languages and maybe one day be able to code and write tech docs :)

    Hi Amruta! Thanks for this great video. I started this course some weeks ago, just to refresh some topics and I found it pretty good for this purpose (I am a developer switching to technical writing). What I liked the most was the second part of the video, because you provided your personal insights coming from your experience as a technical writer. Have you ever thought about teaching technical writing? I would be enthusiastic if you would have your own course.

      Hey! Yeah, I have thought about creating my own course but I haven't had the bandwidth for it given my current full-time job at Cockroach Labs. Thanks for validating the need for the course tho! Might try to do a mini-course in the near future.

    Hi! Do you have any recommendations for beginners that are good at writing but need more insight on the technical side of it (the opposite of this google course) or is that something you just learn on your own while on the job?

    • @AmrutaRanade
      @AmrutaRanade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent question! I made a video about that a while ago (th-cam.com/video/GtjcxfO_bKI/w-d-xo.html) but I'm planning an updated version. Stay tuned :)

    Mam is it better to enroll into an institute who is giving internship and placement by paying 17k or do an online course from udemy or Coursera and then look for an internship and job

    • @AmrutaRanade
      @AmrutaRanade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the institute. I don't know of any trustworthy institutes that guarantee internships and placements, but my knowledge in that area is pretty outdated at this point. All I can say is do your research and make sure it's not a scam. Also, this is the toughest job market I've seen in my career. No matter whether you go through the institute or look for jobs on your own, be prepared for it to take longer than you'd expect.
