    This was a good classic Mid-South matchup. This is the generation of pro wrestling that I grew up with and enjoyed! We are so fortunate to have a service such as youtube to be able to preserve it for us since these days are clearly gone. Great video once again!

      kenpalmer1965 You're lucky to be honest. I was raised in NYC in the 90's and late 80's and never got to see these gems til now. Wrestling was great back then

      Danny Florio Amen to that! Like I said, I grew up watching pro wrestling starting during the early and mid-1970's when I was a kid in elementary school and into the 80's and mid-1990's. Yes, it was really enjoyable back then! I miss them dearly like you wouldn't believe! Thank God for youtube!

    Simple and straight to the point. WWE and TNA should remember this from time to time..especially to keep interest in their product for the long time purist fans.

    I came just to see the belly 2 belly suplex nobody did it like Magnum, and in every hood fight in the south growing up in the 80s and 90's we used that move along with the DDT

    Buddy sold the finish perfectly; he was actually a very good professional wrestler, a true athlete. Buddy Rose the same kind of guy: very agile.

    Even if Magnum had not crashed and got the strap, JCP still would've went bankrupt. He wouldn't have been the "Hogan" type to carry the promotion.

    • @davidmurray6949
      @davidmurray6949 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Because of the Flair affect. Flair was already losing to Harley in 83' and for Magnum to have gotten over really good he'd have to lose to him a bunch of times so in my opinion nothing was going to work

  • @nickvogas4918

    Buddy is one of the biggest whatif stories in wrestling history. He really doomed himself from day one by setting himself up as the poor man's "nature boy" by taking the nickname from ric flair who was currently on top of the world with the exact same gimmick(although flair took of from buddy Rogers, but at least not WHILE rogers was still doing it). Rumor is he was due to have a program with flair where he'd win the NBA world title, but refused to wake up and make the taping due to a long night out with cocaine followed up by Valium to sleep and hung up on dusty Rhodes and then told Crockett he'd be there when he got there. Well, when he got there, dusty asked him to return the north American title because he no longer had a job. Maybe his biggest mistake was he never really took care of his body and when he was given a go in the wwf, I believe in 1995, he was 34 but looked 40 pounds overweight and looked more like 44 so they really couldn't push him like they maybe would have had he been in shape. It's a shame because the guy was talented, but part of being talented in wrestling is keeping your body up to par because in that time period, the look is what separated the big contract guys from the indy guys and Landell just didn't look the part and let himself go way too early in life. Sad story really, especially since he died at I believe 53 from complications from a car accident.

      Sting sucked to me, big smile and weird character. Surfer? Um ok. Magnum was kind of the Hill Billy Hogan, but he was good in the ring and had a good finishing move. His personality lacked though. Neither of those babyface could do anything but chase the heel champion. NWA had a good system worked out, what they needed instead was to replace Flair with another Heel. Buddy might have done the trick for a while but he blew it right when the moment came.
