I watched him play Australia U16 and U18. Kai was simply outmuscled by the physical defense of the Aussie bigs, struggling to get a basket that wasn't from the charity stripe. But after watching a few highlight reels of the big man, I must say, he has a LOT of potential in him. If he bulks up and adopts the European style of the 5 man (such as Porzingis, Jokic and the Gasol bros), the NBA might just be around the corner.

He needs funds for his training and workout, eating good foods such as more protien and not more on extra rice, to be in good training facilities and intructors and physical therapies company for joints health. Hoping Pres. Duterte gave him financial support and other rich people there to finance his needs. HE'S OUR ONLY HOPE!

Maturity said its at 18, if he stays home til he reach 18, he would end up having a local basketball dynamic type of game. Dont think no more, now time to learn international dynamics of basketball, now is the best time or else you loose your NBA dream.

Goodluck to Kai IMHO it would have been better to stay in Ateneo get coached by Tab in college, he would habe prepared Kai for the PBA.
But of he wants to be in the NBA then goodluck I just hope he won't end up wasting his time like Kobe Paras and still end up in the UAAP in the end.
roslolian11 I don't think he will waste his time, may matututunan naman sya dun. Kai has a different mentality than most dreamers out there. Honestly, with his skills, UAAP or even the PBA draft will just be a formality for him. He's got nothing to loose pag umalis sya and everything to gain. Kung di man sya maka pag NBA, mas malawak ang pwede nyang paglaruan maliban sa PBA, pwede maski saan sa Europe, or Latin America or NBL or evem CBA. He would still be a quality player at kung bumalik sya sa Pinas, malaking tulong niya sa future generation ng pinoy players.
@@athenstar10 It depends the training he can get from outside can be different from the training he gets locally just because it is abroad doesn't necessarily mean it is better. For example on the confidence part he can get matched up against foreigners just as tall but way more athletic than him it can affect his confidence. Then the skillset they may teach him can turn out to be more suited to international play vs local like Japeth learned SF/Guard skills because he was quicker than US big men but when he went back he has to play a big man role so he can't use the stuff he learned. Finally his health could be affected, unlike here where coaches would take really good care of him as he is the future of Gilas outside they might grind him down with lots of heavy contact ala Yao Ming.
Look at the recent prospects we have had who went abroad like Japeth or Kobe Paras, despite training in the US they haven't really dominated in UAAP or the PBA, Paras played in NCAA Div 1 and his team got destroyed by the Ateneo Blue Eagles. Japeth has been ok in the pros but nobody will say he is a superstar. I'm just saying the training abroad doesn't seem to have an effect in the pros.
roslolian11 roslolian11 As I said, iba yung mindset nung bata compared kay Japeth at Kobe. IQ-wise , he's way better than these two. Japeth came to US too late to train Kobe came in at the right age but became too independent, he made wrong decisions. And don't blame him for the loss of UP, UP is strong even without him, Tab Baldwin is a great coach for a team but he cannot give Kai the wholistic training he needs, imagine the logistics, time and energy both will be wasting when he can get better exposure outside the country... Japeth and Kobe went to average NCAA DiV I school but Kai is not going to those kind of schools (Plus he may not be easily eligible coz of endorsements) Tab baldwin explained before what Euroclubs do to their players, and I believe that. Teens in Us, Europe and even China are treated as adults unlike the rest of Asia, so by the time their pros, they can adjust easily. Why not let those who have the opportunity spread their wings and be the best they can be?
@@athenstar10 Japeth cam to the US 3rd year college only 4 years older than Kai how is he too old? Being treated as an adult is not that great when he is just what, 16 years old? The big men there might give him a lot of contact leading to lots of injuries because "he is already an adult". They might not give him basic training because "he is already an adult". At his current stage of his career Kai has 0 skills, he needs to be treated as a newbie and taught fundamentals and not treated like an adult lol.
I am not preventing Kai from doing anything it is his decision I have no power in what he chooses to do. I'm just saying based on the evidence we have of amazing prospects going abroad it hasn't really made a huge difference in fact it has hampered their development in some aspects. If Thirdy and Kobe Paras are in the same draft who do you think goes first, "local" Thirdy or "NCAA Div 1" Kobe?
roslolian11 Japeth was what 19 or 20? By that age, guys are already creating their name for themselves, getting into the the G league or get drafted, but not the right age to start in US basketball school.The age bracket of 16-18 is the time for players to get scouts' attention for the big league or to belong to a Euroclub. Basic training begins when you're about 12 or 13 not 16, it's the age for you to show your potential. LOL! I mean adult in a different way, NOT PHYSICALLY, they have age-group tournaments while some have trainings with the adults depending on your development. He got good fundamentals, O skills?! You're like insulting other average Pinoy players. He got skills, just very raw that's why he needs constant competition against kids his age who have the same level or better than him. Again, I'm gonna repeat, Kai has a different mindset as Kobe's. Kobe chose to market himself to the scouts the "Kardashian Way" coz that's how you get attention when competition is tight and he became too inpatient making him commit wrong decisions. Great training environment is one thing, but working hard and discipline is another. Look at Hachimura, not because of the obvious genes he have but his hardowrk is getting him somewhere. Kai's family is doing a good job of keeping him grounded but at the same time deciding carefully about his path. If he's like 6'5 guy, then by all means stay in the country but with his height and an opportunity to be trained by the best basketball countries, why not? The problem with most of us who can't find success in life is we're too afraid to take risks and find our limits. Sure Kobe, may have failed his dream of reaching the NBA, but at the end of the day, he was able to learn and experience things he could not have experienced if he stayedand that will make hime better in the future. The Ravenas and most ADMU players train every summer in the US and then in Europe when Tab became coach, so it's not fair to use a guy who goes to a well-off school and had all the access to the best programs in the country, as an example of how basketball is in the country. If thirdy went to US, he'll be a 3-star recruit in H. S. just like Kobe. SIMPLE, The kid needs competition, he got no competition at home.
i think kai should hone his fundamentals here in the phil. before going abroad. come on, we are not that far behind as far as basketball is concern. problema pag tinangap nya offer abroad pipilitin mahinog yan kasi nag invest sila. i think his dad and his coaches are doing a good job developing him
