  • Hi there!
    I was waiting for the moment to finally post all of the vids of my dog I've filmed so far, so here we go! Watch my baby Samoyed growing up from 2 months old to 1.5 yrs!
    Time flies so fast! She's going to be 2 years old this October and I can't wait to film my pups the next year and a half! It's such an interesting transformation for both: dogs and humans :)

    Samoyeds derive from Putinland. One of the greatest hounds. They are real dogs and not some tasteless bulldogs. Sammies are excellent with children, never aggressive as the first dog. Sammy is more lovely as a personality than most humans.

    Your Zoe is so beautiful, inside & out! ❤ Reminds me so much of our sweet Sammy-girl - the smile, tightly triple-curled-up tail in the cold - hints of biscuit around ears & shoulders in certain lights - pristine white in other light - so loving & loyal & clever & cute as a puppy but such a regal stance as an adult! Truly a majestic friend! ❤❤❤❤❤

      my first apt was a studio next to Central Park when I got my pup, so it was okay for the first 6 months. I walked her 4 times daily... few short walks around the block early morning/evening and then two 2-hour walks in the park + dog run during day time. so we were spending 4 to 6 hours outside every day. We then moved to a 1bd with a balcony and she loved staying outside, now we are in a house and we got a border collie (both require lots of activity) so they just love running around the house like crazy now haha

    • @eileenluther9915
      @eileenluther9915 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have had four Samoyeds. The breed in and of itself is not high energy, like, say a border collie. There is naturally variance between each dog, as in any dog breed. My dogs, once they left puppy hood were content to two half hour walks per day, with that said, under the age of two, they have more energy, and may require play, and running around opportunities. What has been consistent across the four Samoyeds I have had is that they are VERY family/pack oriented…you are their everything, and they are interested in all you do, wish to accompany you everywhere you can bring them, they seem to require less sleep than other breeds and are content to chill and observe the goings on of people. So ultimately, not the highest energy dog by any means, but they absolutely must have a LOT of your company.

    Move upstate. NYC is no place for a dog. I grew up in Harrisville NY. We'd let our dogs out in the morning, and greet them when we came home at night. They were allowed to wander and explore and see the world. It is more dangerous for them, but they remained basically children into old age. All they did was explore and wander. I'm absolutely convinced it was a good life.

      @@onepunchmighty they are relatively easy to train.. just reinforce good habits and potty trainings with treats. They are good eaters and ever crave good snacks.
      They crave attentions and should not be left alone for long hours. Crate training may be helpful or they may destroy things around the house while you are gone for few hours. They like to be held and when they are in your arms, they look at you intently to engage with you. It's very special experience. They are so lovely and also full of love to give. haha we actually didn't do much, she just started using pads once we brought her home, we were pretty amazed by how smart she is. Samoyeds are usually very clean dogs and they keep their surroundings clean as well. But just in case we did put some fake flooring on top of wood floors for the first 4-6 months.. started taking her out in a month and she did the job outside, but we kept a few pads in the apt in case she couldn't wait.

  • @ponteahdamirchi6499
    @ponteahdamirchi6499 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How hard is it having a larger breed in NYC? I might have to move out there but I feel like potty breaks and traveling on public transport will be the biggest issues....not trying to use and elevator or walk down flights of stairs every time pup needs to poo/wee :(

    • @NYCTOMOSCOW888
      @NYCTOMOSCOW888  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cabs aren't that dog friendly to be honest, there's a pet taxi in nyc which is great! I used to take her on a subway in ikea blue bag, the issue that we're still having with her is that she's very unpassionate, so she'd bark out loud in the subway every time, so I just stopped giving her subway rides :) instead, we were walking everywhere and she loved it so much!
      We were in a walkup on 5th fl lmao and we managed to make it 4 times a day.. idk how but we did it for a year. Samoyeds love long runs and lots of exercise, so it's only up to humans if they're willing to

    • @NYCTOMOSCOW888
      @NYCTOMOSCOW888  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there! My advice is to google different breeders in the US, especially the ones located on East Coast: NY, PA, NJ. Those states have lots of good sammy breeders! And def take a good look at dog parents since your puppy will be their copy! Mine looks just like her mother and has a pinch of her dad haha
      We got ours from Alan Bekiel up north in NY and we were very happy with the choice. We paid a small deposit when pup was just born and Alan kept me updated with pictures of my baby sammy every week for 1,5 months, after that we were able to come pick her up. He does send puppies to other states as well. This breeder isn't fancy or anything special so his price was half of the market price which was a bonus for us. Good source to start with would be Samoyed Club of America.org
      Good luck! :)

    excuse my ignorance but how does he handle summer? I thought these breeds in particularly only lived in super cold places/states
    and are very intolerant to warm weathers
    doesn't he get too hot in ny in the summer?

    • @choti001
      @choti001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Their double coats provide insulation against both heat and cold. They can handle pretty hot weathers (up to 90+ degrees), but they need to be frequently hydrated or stay in shaded area. They pant loudly when they get hot. I live with two sammies in California. They shed during the summers..

    • @NYCTOMOSCOW888
      @NYCTOMOSCOW888  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Summers in Manhattan were pretty tough! I used to carry her back home if it's gotten extremely hot.. and we only walked till 10am and after 7pm. Overall she managed it just fine, then we moved to FL and she needed a little adjustment. Now, as she's 2 yo, we have lots of shedding going on during winter/summer. Her fur is magical haha it keeps her cool during summer and warms her up during winter :)

    • @eileenluther9915
      @eileenluther9915 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree about the double coat being insulation.. My Samoyeds have all been able to deal with hot weather better than their shorter coat neighbor dog friends. Whist I would not recommend long walks on a 90 degree Fahrenheit day, on hot pavement with the sun beating down, my dogs have been able to hang outside in our yard out of the sun on hot summer days when other dogs are collapsed inside in the air condition. My dogs have always had a perky bounce to their step in a reasonable walk on a hot day with other dog friends whose tongues are dragging on the ground. My Samoyeds have all gone for walks every day of their lives except mid to high 90 weather and above…then we take it easy.

    • @subyouwont
      @subyouwont 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eileenluther9915 about the hot cement; I would suggest desensitizing dogs young to “booties” so you’ll always have the option on hot days, or if the cement is salted/rocky

    • @NYCTOMOSCOW888
      @NYCTOMOSCOW888  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Samoyeds are pretty stabborn, but very friendly dogs. They adore children. You gotta brush them every day for at least 15 mins. They shed like crazy during some seasons, usually around summer and before winter. They love clean spaces and overall cleanliness in everything is the priority. Food is also a thing you have to consider, they're very picky. They enjoy being alone more than other breeds. And they love cold weather. My sammy hates ocean and will avoid beaches at all times except for winter when it's cool and nice for them to run along the water :)

    She is so much similar to my dog. My question is how you are controlling her outside eating? Mine is always eating Masks and we have to pull them out forcefully

    • @NYCTOMOSCOW888

      she's stopped doing it after a year or so, I guess it was a puppy thing..

      You got to work on the impulse control and be consistent over a long time. Teaching them “leave it” and slowly expanding the range of how far away you are for them to leave it will help. Planting items ahead of time is the next step, and finally high reward leave it’s for things like tasty treats. Start with low reward items

      Why do you say she is not a pure Sammy? I have my fourth sitting right in front of me…a female who looks very very much like Zoe here. And mine ABSOLUTELY is a pure bred Sammy.

      @@NYCTOMOSCOW888 They are going to get used to peeing in the warm house and it will lead to more mistakes than just letting them only pee outside where they should. Most trainers say avoid pee pads avoid avoid avoid

      Also, I used pee pads because I brought my puppy home in sub zero weather….at five months old, we do not even use pee pads anymore, she only pees outside, with only the very occasional mishap.
