I had the chance to ride this thing (actual version of pcx125, drum break on the back) as a rental scooter. I was very surprised to see how well it rides even with 2 people on it (no joke) even going uphil. I was not expecting to be amazed by it. consumption: 2.4l. No issues with the brake even being a drum brake one. After I left my wife at home and ride it alone it was just perfect for the city.

Trump wins and a PCX gets a rear disc? Wow.

Tbh, the PCX has been using a rear disc brake for a while (even as far back as two generations ago) in the Asian market. However, for some reason, Honda removed it for the Western market. Glad they’ve included it now

    Hello Alex!
As a former PCX125 owner, they really have done some things which are good, although I miss the rear inside mudguard, and the underseat part is still must be seen. I think the rear lights got worse...sadly, but I still like the sleek front which I always loved. I hope it remains affordable and bullet proof with small fuel consumption.
    Thanks for the video.😊

hey thanks for the best video on pcx 2025 yet! owner of 2019 30k pcx here and its good to see all the upgrades. I hope they will deliver the rear shocks as this is the only disadvantage of the pcx. yes its hard and you can feel every bump on her. rear disc brake ok but not a must as my drums still there sic new and biting strong. looking forward to see road test from you. thanks!

I'm not sure from your video, but does it have finally flashing high beams button? Thank you!
Otherwise, I have the 2022 model with 22.000 km. (no issues whatsoeve; it's a tank) which doesn't have this feature on the light switch. In terms of rear disk, my point of view is that I always brake with the rear brake (I rarely press the front, so my front brake pads are like new, which for Honda mechanics it seems crazy 😂 "man, aren't you braking with the front at all???") and as long as I can lock the rear wheel whenever I want, it's fine for me (ABS in the front). Plus, the rear brake shoes are around 20-25 Euro original as I understood, while mine are still usable (and my rear original tire as well) as I ride with care, predictable and using the engine brake (the clutch disengage once the scooter drops below 15-12 km/h). So yes, in terms of costs, the drum is better for long term and I don't have to mess with the brake dust on the wheel and transmission/engine/shocks, don't have to also mess with the brake pads which wear faster or with the disk brake to be changed. Just a pair of brake shoes 🤷‍♂️ .

Yes it has a button for flashing the high beam :)

That's it, a chapter in the life of Alex is now over. At last, after years of blind hate he has given the PCX, they put a disc brake on the back, the channel can now be closed and he can breathe easy, no more drum brake on the PCX, on a city scooter thats 130kg and 12 horsepower :))
I am 110kg and i ride as sporty as possible on a tiny scooter and the drum brake is more than enough, on any 2 wheeled vehicle the front brake does 80-90% of the braking anyway, and the honda has an excellent front brake, assisted by the drum in the back when you want it.
Now owners will change the brake pads every 10.000km instead of changing the drum every 100.000km, but i guess this is the modern trend, for +5% efficiency we will have to pay 10 times as often for servicing and parts.
That plastic on the handlebar is a piece of crap and i am sure it will be removed instantly by most owners, because it takes away a key feature of the PCX, a clean, empty handlebar is a good place to install a luggage hook or a phone mount, now they put a cheapo china-looking plastic piece and they force people to put their accesories somewhere else, like on the mirrors, which is bad. Plus it ruins the look, it looks bad, like a maxiscooter from kymco or something.
Saying the PCX was 'long in the tooth' is either uninformed or downright malicious, aside from the fact that it has full LED for years, impeccable reliability, a start/stop system, keyless go (!), the best underseat storage for a 125, lets not forget it's been the best selling scooter in non-price sensitive countries for years and years, along the Yamaha N-max, i wonder why that is? People either buy cheapo china and repair it every 10k kilometers or they buy japanese and go 100k without any issues. Did i mention you get Michellin City Grip 2 tires as standard which are excellent in all weather riding? What other manufacturer gives that?
P.S. I still want to see a china scooter that can do 1.9-2.0l/100km measured at the pump and that has such a smooth and quiet, reliable engine.
Its a budget scooter and corners were cut (mainly in suspension components) but saying its long in the tooth is silly, japanese is still 10 years ahead of china.

Hate to break it to you but the pcx and nmax lower cc variants aren't built in Japan. Their made build factory's are Indonesia, Italy, Vietnam and you guessed it.... China. Alex has had a sym jet 14 125 on here with 100,000km. I have a sym jet 14 with zero issues and that's clocked 118,000miles. All its had is regular servicing and maintenance. My main bearing went at 98,000miles. Alot of 125s now are built in China. Even honda, yamaha, suzuki are built in China. Even kawasaki j125s are built in China. They also have a Chinese engine provided from kymco. Sym also build engine for honda. Lol

I never hated the PCX, and I think it's a damn good scooter, but the drum brake on the back in 2024 was just embarrassing. Disk brakes are just better if not in stopping power but at least on brake feel. The N-max has a brake disk on the back, many Sym, Kymco competitors have brake disks on the back, the PCX was the last one standing with a drum brake. Not to mention the fact that it was advertised that it had ABS when in reality it's just front ABS. But the ABS part I'm still unsure because the unit here on the show floor doesn't have an ABS ring on the back or a wheel speed sensor...... I for one am all for ABS it has saved my skin many times especially in the winter time!

@@JDMz most hondas are built in japan and in thailand. suzuki are made in japan and indonesia. ducati are built in italy and thailand. etc. It doesnt have to be built literally in japan, it has to be built by a japanese company, to ensure their ethos and ethics and work culture. as opposed to china which has a cultural thing about cutting corners and being cheap to the point of scamming people if possible.
I saw sym jet 14 and he replaced suspension components multiple times, throttle body, his scooter is broken now as we speak.
I am happy people are buying motorcycles and scooters and i dont mean to knock on china, they are what they are, cheaper and lesser designed for a lower price, but this guy has been making fun of the PCX for years over trivial things.
If you get a honda and a sym together it will feel like an iphone and a huawei, in theory they have the same specs and functionality, but they are million miles apart in quality and feel.... and i know iphone is also made in china, but by an american company, thats the important bit. calling the superior product 'long in the tooth' is just wrong and funny.

this is just incohernt racism, you're talking nonstop but all points boil down to "superior Japanese race of engineers vs lesser Chinese race of immitators" with like no real points to back anything up.

Licensing regulations in EU "Light Motorcycle" of 125cc is maximum allowed for new riders at 16 I think.

i have the same question i live in Greece and i wanted the 150cc variant. so i went and asked the dealer and he said people are not buying based on the drivers license which i disagree because the no1 selling scooter in Greece is the symphony 200st which is 169cc and requires a different license so the argument about drivers licenses falls flat and its not based on reality. Also i went to many dealers including Piaggio and as i said am looking for a scooter upwards 125cc to be able to do 100kmph but on a budget. I said to the dealer jokingly that now with Sym the competition is getting even harder and he said we only compete with Yamaha and Honda meanwhile The first places here in Greece are all by Sym so that's a strong cope form what am seeing.... (excuse the bad grammar)

    • @RideWithAlex
      @RideWithAlex  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

În many countrys în the EU you can ride 125cc scooters/motorcycles on a regular car license. Many buyers of small scooters have just a car license.

@@RideWithAlex thanks Alex , they should at least let people order the higher cc variants if they want them. our system in Australia is based on horsepower not engine displacement .learner riders can ride ninja 400's for example. Think a 16yo kid in Europe could handle a 15 hp scooter.
