Keep in mind that Stig learned Walther how to drive 4wd. Walther didn't know how to left break a car when he came to Audi since he only drove rear wheel driven cars. Stig learned his worst rival how to be better. Walther was a great driver but without Stig, his success in 4wd cars would have been delayed.

Ich frage mich, ob heutige Rallye-Fahrer überhaupt in der Lage wären, so ein Monster zu zähmen? Walter Röhrl war einfach der Beste - und der Sympatischste!
Alleine das damals einfach der komplette Pikes Peak Schotter war und heute größtenteils Asphaltiert, zeigt schon aus welchem Holz die Fahrer früher geschnitzt waren.

vw is coming back next year or so.. the 2 l formula is back as wll i believe. vw is testing now for a wrc car i hear. i see it every now and then on tv . vw won dakar a few times in a diesel touraeg rally rig, so maybe they will win rally too. them or subaru

I was criticizing the commentator being overbearing and loud when what I really want to enjoy is the sound of another fine German constructed 5 cylinder Audi. Also you might find I have a very capable and comprehensive grasp of my dialect; saying Germans can speak and write better than I is no different than saying most Japanese speak German better than Germans. Base your truths on fact.

Correct. I owned an Audi (80/5+5) and could put the quatro running gear into it. Great car even in front wheel drive form and no turbo.

No, don't think so. I think that the rear suspension was identical to the front, just rotated 180 degrees about Car-Z, so macphearson's all round.

There was no handbrake because the Audi had no middle differential gear so both axles were powered equal all the time. :-)
