I have one of the original pairs. I have uk size 15 wide feet and they work perfectly for me. I couldn’t speak highly enough of them. They are worth every penny.
Much prefer the old Combat/Mountain boot design. Great shame that Lowa replaced the old Combat boot. They were hands down the best boots I've ever had.
I have a pair of the mk1 which I bought from you in 2013. Still going strong I am looking for a 2nd pair in a size larger just so i have room for winter socks. Shame they stopped making them!
Another size 15 user here! Question I have is about the soles: I use my boots for hiking (I'm not military or police etc.) and I'm concerned that the tread won't grip on mud and that the lugs will become clogged with mud as the tread pattern seems to be quite 'closed' (as in there is no room for mud to be expelled...) Can anyone comment on this before I splash out 250 quid on a pair? Case in point - I walked a very muddy 12 mile hike in the Peak District today (Kinder Scout) and my 'old' Mk1s with the Vibram Tsavo soles performed perfectly as always on deep mud and slippery surfaces.
I definitely prefer the old design of the Lowa mountain and combat boots compared to this new one, the rubber on the toes just looks tacky, can't polish it up either! Price too I mean they used to be about £180 for the old combat now up at £250, ouch!
Hi Stevie, There is something to be said for a nice bulled boot for sure! Unfortunatley one of the concerns for the modern Urban use of product is scuffs etc to the toe are and the time taken to keep them built up and bulled. The solution is the new ruberised toe, functional but not smart. Pricing wise with the improvement in parts and the increase in things such as oil which is used in all parts or the boot and its transport the increases whilst not ideal are part of the modern world. The Lowa Mountain are one of the best looking boots for me a true modern classic.
Old design is beautiful, but looking at my pair of MK1s, the leather takes the most beating exactly where the MK2 boots were reinforced, higher on the toe and heel. These are direct impact points which leads to the leather losing chunks, whereas the side only sees scuffing, which can be polished out, so the full rand, at least in my case is really not needed, and getting rid of it also helps with comfort and break in on the MK2.
So... when this CB MK2 is in the top 2 of the most spec'd-out boots - what's the other model, then? ;-D edit: Also, can you recommend these for someone at the beginning of his midlife crisis who wants to walk the dogs and visit festivals in style?
HI Michael, The others are the AKu Pilgrim, much lighter but less heavy duty so it depends on if you want a tank of a boot or a 4x4 :) Id go with the lowa if you are encountering lots of Mud and standing water.

Are they likely to squeak?
I have had some boots that squeak atrociously. Don’t really want to fork out over £230 for a boot that would squeak.
We have had no reports of squeaking
I have the zephyr mk2 gtx hi, no squeaking either.
Thanks for the review. How about outsole vs MK1? MK1 was reported to be really slippery on snow and ice. Is MK2 any better in that area?
HI, I had a pair of MK1 and wore them in the snow with no problems, the new sole has a higher grip rating than the MK1 so will be even better!!
@@patrolstore Thanks, I appreciate quick reply on it. Great to hear! :)

Thanks for the review they are cost prohibitive unless you can get the employer to pay for them.
