    I love your content and I am a subscriber. I am also a New Yorker and I am not rude. We are actually very social people. We are not patient but we aren’t rude. Most of who you encounter in the city aren’t even true New Yorkers. They moved there for work. Just keep that in mind and please try not to paint an entire group of people with the same brush. It usually doesn’t have a good outcome. Thank you

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, sorry it was a joke. Which is why I said all jokes aside afterwards. It’s just a stereotype that New Yorkers get. And I agree with you that many locals are plenty nice and helpful. I apologize if it seemed like I was painting them in a bad light.

    Love the videos. I take it thrift stores there are like charity shops here. The problem here is reselling from charity shops is frowned apon 🙄

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not sure how charity shops operate. But, here in the US thrift stores are independent business’ who make money from goods that are often times donations to keep stuff out of landfills. Some thrifts are for profit and just keep the money earned like any other business. And others use the money earned to fund programs that help people out. They are not necessarily there to supply those in need with goods directly. Rather raise funds for them. Thus resellers are generally welcomed as we send lots of money at these stores that is then funneled into the assistance programs. So the more we shop the more money they get to funnel into programs. And lots of thrifts even have stores and opportunities geared towards resellers like the goodwill bins and auction houses that sell stuff by the pallet / truckload. So reselling isn’t frowned upon by the institutions here. It’s only frowned upon by those who are ignorant as to how they operate. On top of all that it’s seen as a great for sustainability to shop second hand as well. 👍👍

    I'm surprised they didn't put those brand new Madewell jeans on an individually priced rack for $20. Good find. Overall it seemed the prices weren't too bad for NYC. Well, except the shoes, not much meat on the bone for most shoes if you gotta pay $20 per pair. Most thrift stores in the Houston area seem to sell them for around $10.

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Here in Boise the thrift stores price the better items(and not always in good condition) $15-$30. They started jumping the prices in March of this year. Since they do eBay I guess they're trying to kill off the competition.

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eh I don’t think that would be the cause. Having items marked up it’s nothing new. Thrifts have always priced better items up and had little “boutique” sections. They have also been selling online for 20+ years. Goodwill started their online store back in like 1999. And I’ve existed on lots of online marketplaces since then. If anything the prices are just rising due to higher cost of living, higher rental rates, more taxes, higher overhead, employee pay increases etc. it happens in every market.
