I don't understand the complain about Laurel because if you just use some lemon oil and play it for a month the fretboard will become just as dark as Rosewood and I rather have real mother of pearl then acrylic inlays because it looks so much nicer

I bought the casino which has the Indian Laurel fretboard... I don't like the dry feel of the laurel and the way it looks... I have bathed it in Lemon Oil but it dries out too quickly and goes back to that weird brown.. Rosewood is much more supple and smoother thus being a pleasure to play on.

I got this guitar!! Used your link even! It feels amazing and is decently light. Sounds super close to my Gibson R8 (home bedroom volume) EXCEPT the Gibson has a hotter output. I could raise the pickups on the epi to better match the Gibson probably. This guitar is truly great I highly recommend it! Definitely has a good amount of the "custom shop" feel. Epi has done many R9 models and this is the best yet I think!

I just got a second hand 2019 Gibson LP Classic for less than the price of this 59 Epiphone. This reflects even although Epiphone have upped their game with this guitar they’ve upped the price too . A brand new Classic is selling for £1800 in the U.K. and there may be a deal to be dine beyond that . The new Epiphone Firebird models look great too but they are even more expensive than the 59 Les Paul .

A dream deluxe Epiphone Les Paul : nitro finish, steel frets, cut-away neck, bone nut, custombuckers, CTS 500k Pots, good gig bag (who needs a cumbersome case!?). NO push pulls or any fancy electronic crap, ebony compound fret board and pearl inlays, locking tuners, Handwired with Orange Drops capacitors, Aluminium Tune-O-Matic bridge. How much could that possibly be? I’d even cut the binding and just have some nice rolled edges… without a maple top, like the Les Paul Special. Let’s call it THE Un-Custom Shop Deluxe !❤

Excellent video and demo. Nice playing. I love your spontaneity! I’m 70 and I play like you. I hope you received that as a compliment 😊. I’m not sure about the Custombuckers. I am an original owner of a ‘71 Gibson LP Custom. Years back I impulsively (enhanced by intoxication) purchased a 2005 Epiphone ‘56 LP Gold Top w/upgraded P90 pickups. And assorted other upgrades. Bottom line- this F’n guitar sounds and plays on par with my ‘71 Gibson. Different necks and pups, of course. I don’t know what brand the P90 “upgraded” pups are, irregardless, they sound amazing. So… I admit I’ve developed a bias with respect to Epiphone guitars made in and around 2007, at the Chinese Qing Dao factory.

I don't know why they're priced differently because when you read the description there's no difference.

I think it's more like $1300, and that's a fair point. That said, I have the previous version which has Indian Laurel too, and that thing feels like Rosewood and Ebony had a baby - it's awesome, so I wouldn't sweat that choice here. It does give it an air of cheapness, but if it's anything like mine, you forget about the name of the wood pretty quickly because of how it feels.

The 50's Standard has a long neck tenon, 50's wiring, and the same capacitors and CTS pots as the 59 outfit and a gloss finish which IMO looks a lot better. The Probuckers sound fine. Many big name reviewers put the previous model right up there with the Gibson during blindfold tests... I am not knocking the new version but is it really worth the price difference.? .. The massive price hike will do wonders for the value hold of the previous model.
