    This is a great idea. When I was a teacher, I was always searching for new ideas to refresh my classes, not just for the students but for myself. It gets boring doing the same lessons over and over.

    She's amazing and deserves this! She is very inspiring! I've checked out her resources she sells and they are incredible!
    Also, I love all of the comments from people who are irritated that she is making money off of her teaching ideas. Isn't that what a lot of people do? Bill Gates? Mark Zuckerberg? But I guess us teachers are supposed to be content making what we do and never trying to make anymore?

      All intelligent people has the ability to think and through the thinking process come up with ideas that can not only help other people, but that other people are willing to pay for, because of the inherent value that these ideas present to them. This is called intellectual property and as any other property it can be sold to create income for the originator of that idea and or physical product. Now some people think and grow rich, while others sit on the sofa, drinking beer and complain about the unfairness of it all. Well, here are the facts in a nutshell: Life is unfair -- get used to it! If you can think of something worthwhile -- even while drinking your beer -- and turn it into something that will fill a need -- (of other people, not your own) -- you too can be a millionaire! But even more important than the money -- you will be happy!

    This is really encouraging! I have sold files on TpT that I thought were something that anybody could make, but the point is, for downloading files, it is something that teachers resort to who do not have the time, or software or skills to make ready for themselves. A main comment I get on my files is, 'Thanks for doing the job for me!'. You get something original, that is not photocopied and has not been memorized by your students before, and the funds go into the hands of those who actually make the things. Go, teachers!

    Our teachers need to be paid more. It is sad when you hear about teachers worried about electric bills and "making ends meet." I am so glad this teacher found a way to make extra money. No teacher should have to work at an extra job. They spend many hours after the children go home. They also spend much of the little they make buying things for the classroom. Some teachers even provide food for children who are too late for free breakfast

    I was enjoying the interview and happy about the teacher's success...but then the asshole interview had to emasculate and humiliate the husband in front of his kids. Can you imagine the reverse scenario? The husband finds a way to become rich and the reporter then humiliates the wife in front of the kids? People never miss an opportunity to attack men.

      No. I actually think teaching should be mainstreamed. All teachers are teaching the same curriculum. Why not have made out lesson plans to keep education consistent? If teachers don't want to use the lesson plans they should not be required to use it. It doesn't make sense the way we do it now.

      I know you're probably trying to be smart, but seriously, it takes a lot of work and imagination to create something that another teacher (or several) around the world will look at, like, and buy. I'm just starting out and have made a bit of money at it. Many of the comments I've gotten from TpT are 'Thanks for creating this, I don't have the time.'

    Most teachers start at nearly 40000 annually in the US and well over 50000 after about 8 years and can retire with a nice pension in their early to mid 50;s, if they started teaching out of college. , so that somewhat myth about teachers making no money like 5 dollars an hour the way it is portrayed is garbage. But again and again, whether it be race, or sex or an occupation, we see how being a victim is very empowering and intimidating in some cases and or gives one sympathy which so many value it and will never let go of it.

    • @mrsmars144
      @mrsmars144 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where is this Utopian classroom where you can retire in your mid 50's with this huge pension? Most teachers work 30 or more years and have to take on some type of second job to stay afloat. And as for salaries, most teachers hold two or more degrees. Should they make minimum wage?

    • @pep590
      @pep590 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kansas City, Mo school system. My sister and my brother-in-law both made well over 50 grand annually for quite a while. Chicago, Ill is another one. Go to any large city public schools. You have to have a Masters, but still even without it, you are in the mid 40's in just a few years. They start at $38,000. See the chart. Am sure many schools are like that all over the US. And I didn't say Huge pension, so if you are going to lie, you'll have to go to the principal's office after school. But your other lie of minimum wage is so ludicrous, you should be ashamed to lie in front of that sweet little boy in your photo. Retirement pay is a roughly a couple of grand each a month and they retired in their 50's. They did complain though of the high cost of their medical insurance.

      Bless your heart. I see why you hate teachers, you're a struggling reader. I did not write that teachers make minimum wage. I wrote, "Should they make minimum wage?" You do know that you could always enroll at your local university and become a teacher. That way you can work until you're 50, retire with a "several thousands of dollars a month" in pension and live like a rock star too. m.th-cam.com/video/f9ediTKt6a8/w-d-xo.html&lc=z12ajv4xcry1y1fby04cgxs4wxajuh2rfp00k.1501048871527064

      I see right through the smoke and mirrors. That's just FEAR talking. Come on. You can do it! I'll even do it with you. Give me a year to get my GED, since I've already failed the test twice and then we can enroll in college and become teachers. Then in a few short years we can retire with million dollar pensions and laugh at all the soulless minions who are still working their lives away instead of taking the easy road like we did. We can DO this!!!

    You struggle with bills when you make 50k a year and buy a 300k plus house and a new car. Get an apartment or like in a motor home till you can afford a house that way you can save more and not be paying interest losing thousands that go straight to the bank

    • @missteacher9063
      @missteacher9063 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You obviously are not a teacher. First of all, you don't make (depending on the cost of living in your state) $50,000 as a teacher. Well, not unless you get your PhD or teach for many years. I have my masters degree and have been teaching for nine years. I make $46,000. Now imagine making near that, paying off college loans (double loans because we are required have our masters) and trying to raise a family. I am single, with no children and must watch my money very closely.
      Also, they didn't have a $300,000 house. She just recently moved into that home because they were finally able to afford it.
      We don't become teachers for the salary, obviously or for any other reasons except that we love kids and we want to make the world a little bit better. The fact that she was able to take her ideas and bank on it while helping out thousands of other teachers, is amazing. She deserves every cent of it.
      Also, you should read about her. She took a huge portion of her earnings, the year she made it big and bought a van for her handicapped brother. She is not a greedy person who was living above her means.
      I always love when people who aren't teachers, want to give us advice on our careers and money. Unfortunately,we deal with it daily. We have many of those people running our educational system which is a huge reason why our education in the U.S. is the way it is.
      Sorry for the rant but I get tired of people and their negative comments.

      +Miss Teacher What age do you teach? Is it fun? I'm 15 and a little bit away from choosing subjects for lvl 1 NZQA, which is basically the start of your life and I'm really interested in being a teacher - high school teacher, but I don't know if it's worth it..

      Alex Ballantine I teach 4th, I've also taught 1st. I enjoy it but it gets more difficult every year, for many reasons. I think if you have a passion for it, you should go for it! I just feel that so many things have changed and it really makes it very, very difficult. Between the lack of discipline on the parents part and many of the school districts/administrators part, common core, the government butting in now so much on education etc...there is a lot to deal with. There are so many demands on teachers, it makes it tough to keep your passion. I know that sounds so negative, I just always want to give a fair warning. My niece is considering law or education and I told her all the same things I've just said. I don't think teaching is what is used to be. Which makes me sad. :( There is very little respect or support for teachers anymore.
      Good luck in your decision!

      Steve Rogers, What she doesn't say in this interview is that she helped financially with her disabled brother, quadrapalegic from an accident over 20 years ago when she was still a student in college. It hurts my heart everytime I think about the hardship it put on her and her family as she never let me know. When I first heard her say how they struggled, I cried. I still get a big lump in my throat... Mom
