    Yeah that would get costly ... I only use my liquitex high gloss on paintings that I really love . Check out the new Pebeo pouring medium also if you get a chance . Its a little expensive also but works sort of the same with no cells and a super shiny finish . Christina Welch has done a few with it but she prefers cells in her pours & uses the silicone also but I do not so I ordered some of the medium and a few colors and can't wait to play with them . I think some Michael's may carry it but of course mine does not so I had to order from Blick. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Thanks for sharing Molly

    Beautiful!
    Sorry this post is going to be so long, but it's just how I am. I can't seem to describe things without a lot of words.
    With all the comments you get, I'm sure you don't remember me specifically, but I originally hesitated to even TRY to start painting, because I've always been sure I'll screw up anything I try to do. With your encouragement, I forged ahead and have kept trying. (thank you again). Some of my paintings have been okay; just kind of interesting. Some are kind of pretty. Recently, I attempted a technique I saw on another channel: pouring a ring, leaving the center empty, then stacking colors on top of the ring. Then using a stick (or whatever) to drag the ring out a bunch of times to make "tendrils", sort of making it look like tails from a spinning ring. After that, she worked in the center, adding color and playing around in there. Hers looked amazing! I wanted to make 3 rings - small, medium and large - and it was really bad, LOL! Finally, I scraped all the paint off and quit for the evening. The next evening, I tried again and discovered I didn't have enough white so I mixed in some brown to make beige, but it still wasn't enough. But it was already on the canvas, so I thought it might make a neat effect and continued. I was wrong! It was bad, very bad. And the more I tried to fix it, the worse it got. So, I gave up on that one. But I had paint left over and didn't want to waste it, so I started a different one.
    Chapter 2. - - Sorry this is so long, but I can't help it and this is a MUCH better chapter! The next one was going to be my first try at a ring pour, so I used black for my base, got my colors "stacked" in the cup and dove in. It was immediately obvious I had way too much paint in the cup, but it was too late. I can't seem to ever get the paint to come out just a little at a time to make rings; it just all blops out in more of a waterfall than a thin stream. So, I just poured it on the canvas and hoped something good would happen. It did!! At first, it just looked like a layer of mostly black, but then the colors started showing through and THEN cells started popping up! I was so excited I was jumping up and down and freaked out my dogs, LOL! So, I stretched it out this way and that and ended up with a painting that I love! It's just too cool; can't believe it!
    I had been using DecoArt paints, but had to stop at Walmart (ptooeey) for some and they only had Apple Barrel, so this one was a mixture of the 2 brands. Could combination of the brands have caused the cells? Or maybe Apple Barrel brings about cells more than the DecoArt? Interestingly, yesterday Walmart hardly had any paints left so I ended up at Hobby Lobby and they only had 2 brands and I ended up getting Anita's. Should be interesting to see what a combination of THREE brands does! (I forgot to get pouring medium, dangit! I'll just have to do without)

    • @MOLLYSARTISTRY
      @MOLLYSARTISTRY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha, you are quite the story teller! Thank you for sharing this was fun to read. Just be careful with apple barrel white as it can crack. Yes i think mixing different brands brings up cells. And when you are trying items paintings and it doesn't come out like theirs, so what?! I bet yours is awesome for different reasons. And get some pouring medium soon lol!

    • @jennydrumm7223
      @jennydrumm7223 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MOLLYSARTISTRY Oooh, the only Apple Barrel they had at WallyWorld was white and I got a good sized bottle of it. Anything I can do to lessen the chance of cracking? Actually, the one I love is, I think, the only one I've done that hasn't had any cracking at all!

    If you don't want cells and don't want to spend a lot of money (Golden fluid is the best brand to not get cells but damn are they expensive) all you gotta do is not use Floetrol and not mix brands of paint in a painting. Mixing brands (ingredients) helps create cells and I believe Floetrol does too. Some brands create cells easily like Artist Loft. I would not use that brand if I didn't want cells. I find that the Liquitex basics don't create cells easy so just a little p.m. and water, you're good to go :) Sometimes you just gotta simplify!

      Hahaha, thank you! I agree with above, I just love how gloss medium keeps the colors so bright and I love the glossy finish! You are right golden is very expensive, as are the mediums I used here. I don't know if you can get it in canada, but creative inspirations gloss medium and varnish is my go to gloss medium that is relatively inexpensive compared to others. I use it in a lot of my mediums depending on the effect. Happy holidays to you and your family melissa! ♥️

    At 10:53 I can see him on the right side of the painting. If you orient the painting so the green is on the bottom you’ll see a blobby figure with what looks like Ray-bans over his eyes and a big goofy smile with some aqua-green teeth in a portion on top of his mouth.
    Almost as cool as my golden Grinch 🤪.
    Loving the colors. Very bold. Like a pre-psychedelic array.

    When adding your colours to your cup, does it matter in which order you put them in. Say for instance you wanted your project's featured colour to be purple. Would you add that in first or more in the middle of the cup or at the end. I have noticed in many pouring videos that colours can get "lost". Love your paintings and techniques.

    • @MOLLYSARTISTRY
      @MOLLYSARTISTRY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The layering matters for when colors blend as well as when the come out of the cup. What is closest to the bottom will be you primary color for the most part depending on the technique used and the other colors.

    The canvas you used you painted over and the area in question could have picked up residue from the previous painting ? Just a thought

    I'm also a huge fan of the Liquitex medium & varnish, I just wish it wasn't SO expensive. It's $25 for 24 oz. at the cheapest that I found in the stores, but I think it may be cheaper on Amazon? This painting is really great!

      $145 CDN plus tax for a gallon for Liquitex PM at Michaels. I wait until I get a 50% or more off coupon before I buy it. My current mixes are roughly 1½ oz paint, 2 oz floetrol, 1 oz LPM, 1 oz water into my squeeze bottles. If I need the paints slightly thinner then I’ll add a little more to the cups so the pain in the bottles don’t get too runny.

      @@jlynnstapleton9674 Thanks, I should remember to just save up & wait until I get a 50% off & not just a 40% 😉, I think the gallon was $110.00 the last time I looked. I've only been painting for a year now and it's become an expensive hobby. But I did sell 5 paintings for Christmas so I'm over the moon!

      J is Scoobysmom it has become an expensive hobby. I’ve only been painting since beginning of Nov. (put some of the images on my instagram (instagram.com/Ceridwyn2). I’ve tried out a few different techniques of ring pours, dutch pours, but I’ve yet to get a successful swipe that I’m fully happy with. I’ve got a couple more 18”x24” that might be fun to do a ring pour on (so far just on a 12” x 12” or on a 4”x4” ceramic tile)

      @@jlynnstapleton9674 Thanks! It is really the biggest thrill, I have NO artistic talent, my parents wouldn't even willingly hang my artwork on the fridge as a kid! 😂 I can't draw, I can't make anything else look like I intend it to, but pour painting has changed my life. It's like being chosen as Mrs. America or something, so outrageous that somebody would PAY to have something artistic that I made? My coworkers are so encouraging and 3 of them have my "work" hanging in our office. I have made over 150 in a year & I have overtaken the garage walls & the tiny yard our condo has is covered in paint. I asked for a pressure washer & Michael's gift cards for Christmas! I'm going to check out your Instagram, maybe I should start posting my stuff?

    This absolutely amazing!!! I love the colors and the patterns you ended up with!
    I do have a question...what are the pieces in the corner that you use to hold your canvas off the table? I need to find some but don’t know what ask for. Thank you!
