    I have the same model. We've owned it several months and its been on several forest service roads. Our has been doing fine so far. We did have 1 serious problem that was taken care of by the dealership right away. Turned out the plumbing was installed incorrectly by the factory so the 12V pump wasn't able to pump water. The only other problem we've had is that 1 of the screws that hold the net for the upper bunk came loose. We have had the same experience with the solar system as you. That thing maintains the battery with the fridge running and the heater going all weekend; even on rainy winter days here in Western Washington. We noticed that the awning tracks need to be lubricated often or they start to chatter when opening/closing the awning. We have a jackery solar charger that we hook up to the 12v outlet in our 4runner and connect the Truma fridge to the jackery. That way the 4runner maintains the Truma while the engine is running and the jackery runs it when the 4runner is off. If the jackery gets down a ways, we set up the solar panels & they get it fully charged in a few hours of good sun while the Truma is still connected. The Jackery can also run the induction burner just fine but, like you, we haven't used it much. We prefer our camp chef 2 burner or our 22" table top Blackstone. Anyway - thank you for the thorough review and I hope things work out ok with your trailer.

      Glad yours is working well for you. Since posting this many other things have broken including a shock and the awning. The solar no longer keeps the fridge running unless in full sun. It is such a piece of crap Winnebago is actually picking it up and hauling it across the country for repairs (Months without a useable trailer I'm still paying for). I will be immediately trying to sell it if they refuse to buy it back.

      @timdion7834 my water pump hasn't been able to pump water since I purchased it. I contacted Winnebago, and they told me to take it to an authorized dealer... closest was almost 4 hours away. I took it there and they wanted to charge me $1200 to take the bottom of the camper apart to look at the plumbing, and then if it was a warranty issue, they would fix it. But I wouldn't get my $1200 back. How did they figure out the plumbing wasn't done correctly?

      @@jennawillbrand We purchased ours from Camping World. The service department was excellent and took care of it all for us at no charge. The service tech tested the system and confirmed it wasn't working correctly; from there it was a warranty issue no question in their mind and he did what was needed to fix it. I'm beginning to think the factory MUST know that some of these trailer were delivered with incorrect plumbing & knows what the issue is and how to correct it. The service tech told us that he was on the phone with the factory quite extensively when he corrected ours. We had only had the trailer for about a month when we took it in.

    Hey bud, were you at the dealership when you bought the trailer? I don't want to be mean, but Jesus, those are things you could have pointed out to the dealer the moment you did a walk through. I have been seriously thinking about buying one. However, learning that dealerships will yes to death until you drive off, then tell you it's your potato I have changed my mind. Thank you for the information. It just helped me to decide NOT to get one. Good luck.

      What specific things? About the only thing I should have caught there was the missing awning. Sadly, just about everything else did not occur until I drove it off the lot or required some actual use to discover (such as just how uncomfortable the bathroom is and the cassette toilet being broken). The guy that did the hurried walkthrough didn't even have the correct information that he should of. I had to edit this video, because up until making it I didn't even know the fridge was solar. He told me I couldn't use it without a generator.

    I bought a TB last year, and while I haven't had as many problems with mine, it definitely hasn't lived up to what I expected from Winnebago. I immediately removed the top bunk because it was like sleeping in a coffin. Also removed the sink in the bathroom because it was useless, but I still use the shower. I've also found stripped screw holes but was able to fit bigger screws in to secure most things. And no joking about the green lights on the USB ports -- I've replaced the ones around the beds. And it astounds me how wasteful they were with the little bit of space there is in this thing -- the under sink area could have been rearranged for more useful storage, and the switch/monitor display is also hogging cabinet space. And the refrigerator only properly cools when it's cranked all the way up, but that's only if the temp outside isn't over 80 and if the front of the RV isn't facing the sun. That black brush panel around the bottom gets HOT when the sun is shining on it, and the heat seeps straight through the wall insulation. I bought before they started dropping the prices, so I sunk a bit more into it, and I can't justify getting rid of it quite yet. But I'm definitely modding the hell out of it to make it comfortable for me.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It's only just beginning to get hot here so I have yet to experience what you're dealing with. Bummer it sounds like it gets even worse in the summer. Was removing the sink in the bathroom fairly easy? That's brilliant. I bet the shower is actually useable without it, and who needs a second one.

    • @JulieNapp
      @JulieNapp 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WildernessMedic The hardest part of removing the bathroom sink is sawing off and capping the drain pipe so you can seal the hole in the wall. It's definitely worth it, though.

      Quality must be very inconsistent with RVs and the equipment. We had our FB in upper 90F to 102F for a week early August. We had our fridge set between 5 & 6 and it kept everything nice and cold - we even put ice cream sandwiches in the freezer for our daughter and friend and they stayed frozen. I bought a Jackery Solar charger to go along with the Truma Portable Fridge and it did pretty well too. However, the Truma could NOT keep the ice cream frozen no matter how low we set it. Reading all these various experiences is rather unsettling.

    Hey, man. Sorry about your crappy experience. I'm definitely not considering this anymore. Seems to me that many manufacturerers are selling "off-road" trailers with no one within the company knowing what that really means. They probably assume that like many SUVs and 4x4's that they'll never really go off-road.

    I purchased the same model (FB) a couple of months ago and has taken it out 3 times since I gotten it. Only paved road, but planning on taking it down rough gravel/dirt road. I had the same issue with the side container door coming open while driving. I think it needs to be locked to make sure it doesn't come open because the door will pop open when hitting a bump and will open the side door. I'm worried about all the screws that came loose. I might need to check it before taking it on a gravel road.
    Awning is a concern and I have open/closed it multiple time, no issues yet.
    Rust is an issue on my Hike also. I have been using spray can to paint over it after cleaning it out and seems to have done the trick for now.
    That USB light is horrible, that was the first thing I did was cover up with electrical tape.

    • @WildernessMedic
      @WildernessMedic 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like some serious design flaws for sure. As far as the side container, I couldn't get mine to close without actually locking it. So that was the position it was in when it popped open on the highway. Thank got there weren't any tools or anything in it that could have caused a serious accident or death.

    Wow! If Boeing made an RV…
    Seriously tho, that’s horrific. I haven’t heard a single good story from anyone about buying and owning an RV. It’s unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.
    Is there any recourse at all with respect to having the items fixed under warranty? Is an RV “warranty” complete BS?
    My mind is blown at how many nightmare stories I hear.

    I'm sorry to hear this. I bought the stow bed version, and I've had a lot of luck with it so far. There are some issues that I also had, though. My biggest annoyance is realizing that you MUST empty the cassette toilet before moving the trailer. Or else you're stuck cleaning up the contents in the compartment. I also had an issue with the thermostat, but I just pulled it apart and fixed it myself. The screws on the legs of the sofa/bed need to be frequently tightened. I am working on my own solution to securing cabinets so stuff doesn’t fall everywhere while driving. I actually use mine VERY frequently. Those are the only issues I can think of.

    • @WildernessMedic
      @WildernessMedic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The issue you're having with the cassette toilet is one issue I'm not having. Are you closing the flapper with the handle on the side? I can drive over bumpy roads with it full and it doesn't come out. Maybe it's not installed correctly like mine was from the factory?

    • @GaryTrujillo-mh7el
      @GaryTrujillo-mh7el 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @WildernessMedic yes, the flapper inside the toilet is closed. (I think that's what you were mentioning.) Yea, I should definitely look into fixing the problem, as I was starting to assume that it must be emptied before moving it since it has happened 3 times now. Probably not sealing properly.

    I do light "off-road" camping and wanted something that would manage, but when I see these videos, it makes me hit the brakes.
    I dont mind a little repair here or there, but 10+ issues after one trip makes me want to keep my $20k and just keep tent camping since more issues are probably coming

      It is highly disappointing because I am really enjoying being able to pull up, put the stabilizers down, and be set up. But this trailer is still falling apart. They didn't make any of the doors or drawer secure so now the drawer has come out and apart. The axel is quickly rusting even more...

    This unfortunately is just how the industry is no matter the price point. When you pay 20k+ you just get better components. The design and building process is where they don't spend much time and money on. Personally if its structurally sound and doesn't leak, I can live with it.
