I have the Bullseye deluxe and I had a feeling that the meat probe was off. After watching this video, I found that it was reading 11° over what it should be. Now it’s calibrated and I’m smoking my first brisket. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for the video just got my Bull and did not know about the probe calibration. Will be checking on this tomorrow to see if I need to make any adjustments. 👍🏽
I went to calibrate both probs before Thanksgiving. I used my Thermopen, which was also calibrated, as a base line for probs A&B calibration. At the end of the calibration I found the Thermopen and 1 probe read the same. 2nd probe was reading 1 degree lower. That was close enough for me. I didn't make any adjustments.
Does the controller have the ability to calibrate at two points (say freezing and boiling)? Only calibrating at one point makes certain you are accurate at that point. But if the response isn't correct over the course of the expected temperatures, adjusting that single point (particularly at so cold a point) seems like it might not give the desired results. Just an engineer's perspective.
Both my probes read 697F I have tried unplugging my grill, plugging it back in. Unplugging probes, plugging back in. Glass of ice water, tried putting them in a hot brisket… nothing. They never change. Just 697 all the time.
Can I calibrate the internal ambient probe in a similar manner? I know it will need to come off the bracket so that it can be dipped into a cup. Another person asked the same question in the comments but it doesn't appear there was a clear answer. Thank you.
REC TEC Grills I’m sorry. I was actually referring to the grill temp probe and not the meat probes. Is there a way to check that and calibrate? Can you refer to a video if it’s already been covered?
@@recteq Technically, Tito S' question is somewhat valid. Freezing point of water is 32F, but, that water was not freezing. It was close to its freezing temperature. Probe A could have been reading 2F lower than it should be. :).
never mind... Just called Rec Tec and explained what I said above and he knew right away I was on a first gen model. They are sending me out a new controller asap! Love this company and their customer service!
We need to make a video for you guys on how to do this. But feel free to give us a call and one of our guys can help guide you through on how to do it. :) 706-922-0890 is our number
Thank you for being very clear on the calibration process.

Wonderful! Thank you so much! Can’t wait to get home and get mine re-calibrated

Thanks for sharing this simple way to check (and fix) a very important part of the grill.
What do you do if they are wildly off? One of mine shows 77° and the other shows 200° but actually both are outside the grill at 51°s outside temp

Got my RT700 last week and just tested my probes. A was 32 and B was 34 just like the video. Simple to adjust.
Now you're ready to cook! Welcome to the REC TEC family. 🤘🔥

Great explanation. Thank You!

jspianoman07 you want the video below for temperature offset

Is there a way to check and adjust the temp probe inside the grill?
It works only in a controlled environment. A glass of ice water is the best way to calibrate.

My probes always read 10 degrees higher. I have checked multi times. My probes bad?
How do u know which probe reading is correct. He adjusted probe B to match A but what if probe B was the correct temp.
The freezing point of water is 32ºF, so we know that Probe A had the most accurate reading and Probe B was just a little off. 🤘

Yeah, my settings on my 700 don't let me go past 2 (meaning I can only set 1 or 2). Please help bc they both need adjusting and it won't let me

Or you can mark one of the probes with bright nail polish down on the end where you plug it in :-)
That's a good trick to keep in mind! 💅
I use the smallest zip ties I have. 1 tie for probe A and 2 ties for prob B.
What the heck is that antenna on the front of the controller?
It's the same controller as before, just an external antenna instead of an internal one. No difference! 🤘
@@recteq which is newer, the external or internal antenna?
@@Akttdwj The external antenna is the latest model, although it does not make a difference in the functionality of the controller. 👍
Meat probe calibration for probe on Bullseye?

@@recteq has this video been made yet? Can't imagine it's too hard...
Indeed. They really need to make a bullseye vid on meat probe calibration.
