Woah woah whoa... you're talking too much sense about this plan, it's great... I really would hope they would take this on.

I think your proposal underestimates the problem of diesel exhaust. The Reno Trench and the Alameda Corridor have minimal coverings over the tracks in order to allow gasses to escape. Since the idea of the Rio Grande Plan hinges on maximizing usable real estate above the train box to pay for construction costs, there's a huge conflict that needs resolution. And even if the train box is equipped with adequate ventilation, will the exhaust be simply blown out at the portals, possibly creating a health issue at those locations?

Especially at the north end of the trench when stopped trains begin pulling up to the new junction.

I want to support this project but my elected officials wont listen. It would help if i actually lived in Utah.

Haha, that would help for sure!
We may be working on a public petition soon, so keep an eye out for that.

What are your plans to increase bike and pedestrian access to the rail lines, as well as allowing scalability of additional trax lines throughout the salt lake area? It has been amazing seeing the recent bike infrastructure along third west and 9th south. I hope to see this infrastructure connect into public transit systems.

I like the alternate design sent in by the anonymous user, it’s a personal view, but I feel additions to buildings should be in line with the architectural style of the building, they are adding onto.
