Even though he’s only hitting the first couple of wedges 50-60 yards notice how he still finishes with a full follow through. Proof he’s swinging the club and the ball is getting in the way. He and Ernie Els definitely two of the sweet swingers in the recent era.

He was carrying his Houston golf bag and on windy holes he would kick up a tuft of grass on the tee and hit his driver right off the deck. It was sheer luck that I picked that group to follow...they were unknowns. No galleries or ropes. This was at El Dorado CC.
Freddy has been my fav pro since he started almost. Love his swing! Wish the Champions Tour has a Live broadcast similar to PGA Live - I would switch over in a heartbeat!

I’m a senior in highschool and shot a 70 in the practice round which is the best anyone has ever shot in highschool counties history around me so I’m trying to win tomorrow. Open stance push swing. He aligns himself left of his target and pushes the swing in order for it to go straight towards his target. This is not at all good for your lower back and in later years he’s talked about how he’s trying to square his stance because of the lower back problems it causes.
Bought my first set of Lynx parallax irons and boom boom woods because of FC. Still have them and still swing them from time to time. Love watching him swing.
Have you seen the cable channels that just show a hearth with some Yule logs burning during the holidays to help you chill out? The Golf Channel should have this range session on during the holidays for us golfers who live in cold climates. My blood pressure goes down just watching this swing! I watched him hit 3 woods,one after the other,over the back fence of the driving range at Oakmont with the same languid,effortless swing. He mesmerized you with his tempo!!

A lot of the younger tour pros could learn from this man. His attitude is so easy going. I am sure he gets disappointed when he isn’t playing well. But his demeanour never changes. There are three people I would love to just sit and talk to in the world. Fred is one of them.
Saw him swing at a Jr event in Pilchuck WA when he was 14 and I was 17. Same amazing tempo. Before they called him Boom-boom, we called him Bam-Bam because he was so small and hit it so long!

I was there about 900 yards away. There was nobody allowed there except the volunteers. Got to follow Freddie and Ernie around. Freddie blocked one on 7 to the right into the woods. He hit a root on his second shot through the trees to 15 ft of the pin. Beautiful shot even if he wasn’t hitting them well that week.
Outside of grip, posture and alignment, forget everything you've ever been taught about the golf swing and just watch this video everyday for one year....scratch golfer.
Whenever my swing breaks down I review Fred's smooth timing. Not hard nor fast just smooth and complete. His dispersion must be no more than two yards!
You can if you choose to. The idea of pain and related maladies gives you the only excuse needed to not try harder. Do something else for entertainment that’s easy and ready made for the feeble minded. They tell me checkers is a safe bet.
Oh that rythem and tempo is to die for as a guy in his mid 60s I watch videos of Freddie I used to swing hard with a high mph swing speed long but sometimes erratic now because of injuries age and the limitations they've caused I've slowed my tempo right down changed from stiff to regular flex shafts and still hit it just as far if not further with a more rytmical swing and results so much more consistent and with the lowest handicap in my mid 60s I've ever had think tempo and rythem before hitting every shot on course think Fred couple's it will help your game immensely
The beauty of Freddy Couples swing is it’s just an upper body turn with very little hip movement on the back swing and a nice easy weight shift going forward but with club head speed. No muscle tightening and rigidity like a springing tiger of today’s PGA players.
I remember swinging like Couples back when I was learning to.play.....I watched Jack Nicklaus and used his swing as a model .....read "How I Play Golf" and watched the videos. Then Couples became my favorite because I used to lift the club.....it felt natural......and drop it in the slot......then I started reading Hogan and other instruction books and tried all these things. Before that I had a huge shoulder turn that my group I used to play with would marvel at.....and with my Lynx Boom Boom driver......that Couples played with......which had the head of my 3 wood today and steel shaft.....I could easily drive 300 yard par 4's because I just swung freely and let it go. Then I tried to get in all these positions and better my swing....would work here and there but would do so for a round then I would lose it and have to find again. Went back to just lifting the club and dropping into the slot with pitches, chips, irons, drivers, etc., and played so much better. Like Couples my driver became my favorite club again.....and Putter. Not a scratch player but can match any group I play with no matterthe skill level all because I played whzt I naturally felt and it was ok for my elbow to fly.....LOL

Keeps his right foot down as long as possible which is pulled up in follow through secondary to the momentum of the club and rotating torso.

Wedge shots hes using weight of his arms (gravity) only. I incorporated this myself after watching him long ago. Consistent and saves alot of energy
