I'll tell you what, If you know what you're doing, you can turn a Chef Boyardee Pizza kit into something really damn good. This is one of the better ones I've seen on here. People usually screw up the dough.
These kits bring back so many happy memories for me. My mama did them on Friday night and we were always so excited. I am making one tonight just for fun. I found the regular one at Walmart for $3.68. I add lots of toppings to it and enjoy. No, its not even close to fine pizza but its as good as most frozen pizza and you get flour on your hands.
I still make these pepperoni pizza kits. I get a 6-pack of them (makes 12 pizzas) on Amazon, and the price is reasonable. I add some semolina flour to the dough for crunch and use olive oil instead of vegetable oil and let it rise for awhile, i.e. an hour or so. I also peel and strain a few roma tomatoes and combine them with garlic, oregano, basil, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and olive oil then cook it down before adding it to the sauce, as there’s never enough provided to suit me. If you knead the dough well and give it time to rise, it’s workable with a rolling pin, and I can get a paper thin crust that is very tasty. Just flour the dough ball, rolling pin, and counter. They no longer include the grated cheese canisters in the kits, so I add my own parmesan and mozzarella as well as additional pepperoni on top. Bake it on a pizza stone then cool it on a rack before cutting it, and it tastes great
Yeah after my parents got divorced and my dad was a bachelor living in apartments in late 70's and 80's he would make this for me and my sis. Was not too good but watching you make this might pick up a box at Walmart soon.
I remember those pizza kits back in the 60's. We bought them once in awhile and made them. Looking back, they were not so great as is, but you had to add additional toppings such as green peppers, real grated cheese, ground beef, mushrooms, etc for them to be really good and worth eating.😋
Buying food on Amazon is not the way to go. They still sell these in grocery stores in the US. They run from like $3.50 to $6.00 approx. They stopped putting the parmesan cheese in the boxes though.
Yeah my suggestion is to take a spatula and try to lift it off the tray to see if the crust is browned enough, you kinda have to cook some of the moisture out of the mix. Or maybe par cook the crust for a few then top it
Only if you insist on doing a custom, one item order order and having them shipped by air freight, tracked every step of the way, then by courier (complete with photographic evidence), to your house, all for just for one box. If you buy them at WalMart, like a normal person would, they are basically free.
I like to throw mine in my toaster oven using the "air fryer" setting, with no pan, for the final 10 minutes. It crisps it up nicely, and you won't have to use a fork and a plate.
I remember this kit in the mid 60s. It was okay. I read the kit came out in 1955. Can't understand why it's so expensive expensive maybe not many are produced Much easier and better in my opinion buying a frozen pizza like Red Baron and less expensive. Thxs for trying it again actually good to have if one can't make it to a store for some reason. That box may have been sitting around a long time the cause of not rising completely. .
I remember those from about 60 years ago. We had never had pizza when I was a kid so I didn't have anything to compare it to. But as I recall they were pretty bad although we didn't really have any decent toppings to put on it.
Thanks for the comment. I think we were in the same situation, with not too many toppings just lying around the kitchen. We all just had to make do, but we had fun. Cheers!
I’m getting ready to try the recipe on the side of the box! Sir, do you realize if they mail you the cheese it wouldn’t be any good by the time it got to you😂 cheese has to be refrigerated lol.. you got ripped off.. I gave $8 for mine at the store😂😮
It is true. You just have to actually take it serious. Cooking isn't a game or entertainment. It doesn't matter what it is... You should put love into it. This guy here is a fucking idiot. But if you want a real pizza recipe... I'll give you a good one. Simple fast and easy.
Mine was 3.68 at walmart, just got it so looking for someone to show me how to do it. I uses lots of veggies and vegan cheese. Thanks for this video. Buy at Walmart next time.
i would have had hot pizza pan already in the oven to slide the pizza onto. or placed the pizza crust "no Toppings" in the oven for 5min or so, then put the sause and topping on it then put it back into the oven, for a crisper crust
I remember in the 70s asking my mom to buy this because it looked so cool…..that was the first and last time…..it was pretty gross. Looking at the video, what an awkward looking placement for a wall oven under a counter….the stooping and kneeling down to check on things and put foods in and out of the oven is less than desirable.

My secret is to cook it in my toaster oven/air fryer for the final ten minutes. It crisps it up nicely.
Just ordered some off Amazon, super excited

@davidpar2 Or you could just make it from scratch.....
@@ubermo1182I do that as well. I make the Chef Boyardee kits because I like them

Always had to bake crust 5 minutes before dressing these to make them crispy
You added to much liquid

We make them all the time. If you Par Bake the crust for 5-6 minutes before adding Sauce, Cheese, Ect, the middle gets crispy!
Wow I used to make these growing up. The price definitely went up.
Got one today. Still $5.99 for two large pizzas. Hard to complain.
$3.68 at Walmart

did your cosori air fryer get recalled?
You didn't drizzle it with oil before letting it set. It's in the directions.

Where in the world did you find it for 15 dollars? They are way cheaper in nc
I just bought the kit for under $4.00 on Amazon. 6/26/24
Makes me wonder if that whole 'blooming the yeast' before mixing thing is true or not.
blooming the yeast is mainly just to check if the yeast is alive before you make the dough
As a brewer and a baker, I never bloom my yeast. Haven't had a disaster in over 10 years.
