I’ve had mine for more than two years or more…lol. I am getting ready to make the casings. Really tired of sticking pins in fingers. Thanks for the video.
Lol what are you waiting fir?
Looks pretty straightforward. I think I’m going to attempt this before I load my next quilt.
Also looks like I can use my channel lock once I’ve sewn the first 6” or so.
@@robbieknapik6745 it sure is! Let me know how it goes!
What a wonderful easy to follow tutorial! Thank you so much. It only took my husband and I about 45 minutes to install 2 red snappers. I must say, it is really tough to not go wonky. ;-) It looks like I had too much wine before sewing the channel.
🤣🤣 I get that! Use a thread that blends and you won't notice as much
Interesting. The system you use makes attaching a quilt easy and quick.👍👍
Yes indeed!
Thank you so much for demonstrating the entire process of installing the red snappers. Seeing the way you created the leader sleeve is very helpful. Thank you once again.
Happy to! It can be scary!
This is an excellent tutorial. I have these and they have been sleeping in their package in my sewing room. I now feel very comfortable about sewing the sleeve and installing. Thank you for taking the time to do this video.
Happy to share!
I FINALLY got my Leader Grips changed out. Thank you for getting those to me so quickly!
So glad to do it!
Just the tutorial I needed! I've had mine 7 months and now I feel confident enough to take them out of the packaging. I've just received a100 year old top to quilt and I don't want to load it with pins. I do not want to be the one to put a hole in this quilt by pinning it and then putting tension on the muslin. Thanks so much for this tutorial.
Oh how wonderful! I wish you luck on your heirloom I am sure it'll be great
Definitely looks more secure than the leader grips with the shrink grip And my leader grip clamps broke very easy will be getting the red snappers
The red snappers are the best! We have them on boldnotionquilting.com if you're still looking!
Thank you so much…your demo was amazing. Very informational and just what I needed!
😊
Very informative video. I will definitely use this method to sew and load the red snapper casings!
I’m ready now to install my new red snappers! Very helpful tutorial!
Happy to help!
So grateful for your tutorial!! Finally did it! I’ve had mine since March, but you gave me the confidence to getter done! 😅 thanks so much
So when you did yours, did you have any problems? Or did it go smoothly as hers did?
@@pamelatidemann4443 very smooth
@@shellyculver4239 oh good. I'm getting my new longarm next week and I'm so excited!!! The ones I've worked on had the snappers, and I would really like to keep using them. Thanks for your input! Happy quilting!
Thank you for this. Very helpful. Wish I had a Millie.....
You're welcome!
getting mine Thursday can't wait :) thanks for the video
So happy about the video. Great job!
🥰 just trying to take the unknown out of it all
Thank you for this...I am going to go put them on later this morning....
Hooray! Glad to be of help
Just finished pinning my first backing to my leader cloth. Investing in red snappers SOON! I have a 5’ frame sooo - what size package would you recommend?
I now have courage to do mine. Thank you. Also do you ever have stretch over time in center of belly bar canvas? What causes that? I know how to correct just not what causes...
Interesting - I have a Grace Q-Zone Hoop Frame. Will the red snappers work with that?
Thank you for your tutorial, my problem is I have glue that's coming off for the pole from my velcro strips. Any suggestions? TIA
@clairemoore9012 well cleaning glue can be hard i would probably just cover it with duct tape. 🤣 otherwise wd40 can really help get rid of glue or goo gone
Great information! Thank you for sharing!
Happy to!
If these are tough to screw in, run screw over bar of soap and you can heat up red tube with hair dryer, this helps a lot to get these screwed together more easily.
Thank you for that
I used my drill. Just stuck one end in the drill and tightened down on it. Screw goes right in. Of course you can’t screw in the other side of the rod with the drill, but I used a couple of pliers. This works great and much faster. I have RA in my wrist, so I’ve had to learn how to adapt.
Did you use the channel locks to keep your stitching straight?
No my stitching is wobbly ❤ using the channel locks felt like one more thing to pay attention to. So I didn't but I'm sure you could
Nice clean, new machine. Isn't it wonderful? I currently have Leader Grips and what you say is true...they become very brittle after a while. Especially if you let the sun get to them. Ask me how I know this. I'm thinking I'll switch to the Red Snappers when I finally demolish all my LG's.
Lol! I wouldn't fight with it a day longer you won't regret it and its an easy switch life is too short for Hassel
Lol don't waste another minute. Life is too short for frustration. And good to know about the sun!
excellent video, where did you get that pin cushion????
Gosh I have no idea I probably just picked it up. Joanns. I've HD it for a million years
Thank you! I have had my red snappers for almost 2 years and have still not installed them. I feel much more confident to try now. (FYI: I have a Millie too!) One question- in what direction do you fold the quilt back and pick up leader casings? I also have a longarm tape measure to sew on each leader. What is your opinion about that.
I dont find value in having the tape measure in the leader once the quilt is rolled its useless and you can get the same results by measuring middles then loading. Pay attention to how you fold your fabrics so when youre at the longarm you can see the fold
@@BoldNotionQuilting Thanks!
How do you attach the quilt to the red snappers? I saw the little clamps, but there were only 6 in the pack...
When I videoed putting them on my audio got messed up ill need to put up a new video showing how to load its very simple you use the small clamps to hold the quilt into the rod then use the bigger ones to secure the quilt to the rod all the way across and remove the little clamps as you go. The little ones are just a place holder to make loading the larger clamps easier
Are red snappers easier on the hands if a person has some arthritis in hands. I tried leader grips, but they were to hard on my hands.
I think so. I dont hve arthritis but I have a connective tissue enrolled and pons would kill I couldn't get through half a top... the red snappers allow me to use more of my hands and less of my fingers I reccomend them over leadergrips I have them on all my machines and love them
Will red snappers work on thicker fabric like cuddle?
Yes mam I do cuddle backs all the time even the really plush ones
@@BoldNotionQuilting thanks for the fast reply. I just ordered.
Not a problem!
I notice that you are using a Millie long arm machine……do these work on a Gammill long arm?
Absolutely they work on every longarm machine you just have to make the casing and put it to work
So you can cut the canvas to straight it up
yes you can. I reccomend spritzing with water first and see if it'll pull up on it's own
I was hoping you would show how to get the clamps on….thats my problem area
There us another video on my channel (if you search snapper) that shows you how to load! It's there!
The video would have been too long to keep them together
Good Information, But I sure got Ripped Off with my Red Snapper Set! I bought a 10' set and I put the rods together and each bundle of 3 came to 5'. All of my Grippers are the same size about 20" each. I didn't get metal screws, mine were plastic. Not very impressed with my order
Hey there Kate, the new red snapper come with wooden dowels instead of these screws. The metal screws were hard for people's hands. I love my red snappers and all came at the appropriate size. Did you buy your snappers directly from the manufacturer? Second hand? Or from. A shop? If you bought your snappers from the manufacturer or from a shop, contact them to get this situation resolved. Maybe something was mislabeled or mis packaged? Give them an opportunity to make.it right. If you bought second hand maybe they were used?
Could you use an inch measurement instead of 7/8”?
The looser it gets the wintery it can be to load and unload quilts so ita up to you. The 7/8ths is almost too big but not quite
I see. Thanks
@@trudiecase :)
So you stopped short of showing how to load the quilt.
I did a separate video on loading the quilt at a better angle than this
It's right here on the Bold Notion channel
