    This is a very simple DIY cooling box which can effectively cool down your room quite a few degrees! You can by all the part easily and just for 30$. Keep a big pack of soda bottles filled with ice in your fridge and you can continuously feed the box and run the cooling process at the maximum level.
    I put it in the kid room which is 15 m2/160 ft2 big and get down the temperature by 1 degree of celsius in 40 minutes.
    Give it a try and make it on your own. If you do please give me a feedback and send some pictures about yours!
    Thanks for watching!!

    Add a heat exchanger under the fan , fill the cooler with a couple inches of water the half way up with ice using an aquarium pump to run the cold water thru the heat exchanger. A buddy does that to cool off his tent when camping out. Good for roughly 10 degrees in the tent

    try turning one of the tubes around to face the fan so the intake air is cooler. may extend actual cooling time

    You could improve this device by 1) letting the ice free (do not keep it in bottles) and 2) suspending several pieces of cloth from the top of the box down to the ice/water (all parallel to the air flow to avoid blocking the air path).
    First the warm air will be refreshed by the ice (as it is in your setup).
    Then it will be refreshed when the ice melts (exploiting the latent heat of melting, as it is in your device)
    Then it will do better than your current setup: if the air in your room is dry enough (not 100% humidity) it will continue to cool the air using the latent heat of vaporization extracted by the air from the wet pieces of cloth (which are here solely to improve the contact surface between the air and the water).
    Have a try !

    People it dropped the temp from 82 to 80, dont be dumb it is not an ac unit that will drop the room temp by 10 or 20 degrees it is a personal cooling fan. if that thing is pointed at you while you sit or sleep it will cool YOU down NOT your whole room if the room is 82 degrees this thing is blowing air towards you that is about 50 to 60 degrees that is a big difference as to just turning on a fan and circulating the same 82 degree temp air in your face.

    Fill the bottles with salt water they will get colder. Mix just enough salt where to water will freeze in the freezer. Then do another test run and see if you get a better result

      I saw another video like this with a plastic cooler and a block of ice instead of small bottles. Looks better than this one.Just use a small tub, fill it with water and set it in the freezer.
      This cooler looks lame. Taking 40 minutes to cool room 2 degrees does NOT impress me!

  • @eliteinfo
    @eliteinfo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    HOLD ON!!! The laws of physic tells us nothings gain nothing loss... so for this to work correctly (assuming you understand how a freezer or refregirator works) you would need to have the ice produce outside your house or during cold days. Else your just putting the cold air back into your house the same cold air your freezer took to freeze the water. Yes you will feal the cold air on your body but not colling your house...
    One room is possible if that room is not the one that as the freezer in.

    From 82.8 to 80.7 degrees in 40 minutes and that is right at the box. Am I missing something here? That does NOT seem to be much difference.
    I have seen others blow under 50 degrees at the outlets.
    With all do respect you should be embarrassed to have the

    • @Vgp-rp4iu
      @Vgp-rp4iu 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      427GT40 haha this is the 5th "best" diy cooler a.c. I've seen today. I would have to agree worst is much more like it. I made one of these for when we go camping and mine keeps the tent about 71 degrees when it's 90 outside. I use it in the bedroom sometimes when it's really hot and don't want to turn down the central a.c. to 65 and it keeps it really cool. You need something more powerful than a little fan like that and bottles of ice.

    • @KiranKumarBokkesam
      @KiranKumarBokkesam 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RoBeRoB1189 that's what I'm saying, I don't care if i'm a hippy or anything else! By the way, may I know what "hippy" means according to you? Anyway, it's not environment friendly, it needs a thermocol/polystyrene box, a fan whose case is made of plastic which runs on power, generated by don't know what; plastic tubes and plastic water bottles which were cooled most probably using a refrigerant. Pollution has to be done to produce all those things. I'm not saying, "environment friendly alternatives can't be used for the same idea".

    And how many degrees cooler before you have to refresh the ice or the frozen soda bottles? Tell us more about the value of this. You haven't indicated this project has value...just that it is simple.And what's with 124 comments, but 120 are repeats of your reply? Appears you have a problem...does that inflate the importance of your video.

      +Spence Bloom It depends on a lot of things:
      - what is the starting temperature in the room
      - amount of frozen soda bottles
      - the watt power of your fan
      The styrofoam box can keep the bottle stay longer freezed if you switch off the fan and leave them in the box!
      The comments came from google+ community shares but it's not have any improving effect on the video!
