Biggest computer barnfind ever! A Belgium barn filled with old computers. We saved them all!!

  • By the end of 2021 we were contacted to save computers of a deceased collectors in a barn in southern Belgium. Little did we know what we found when we went to pick it all up in September 2022. It was like a free candy shop for computer collectors and we're ever so happy that we got this once in a lifetime opportunity.
The HomeComputerMuseum saved around 100 computers from this collection and the rest is saved by other collectors. Nearly everything is saved and since October 2022 everything's gone from the barn.
As a museum this was like being in a candy shop and we were allowed to take all. We drove there with 2 big vans and 3 cars, all completely filled with stuff. Registering and repairing took another 3 weeks in the museum!
It has taken until January 2023 before we had the final piece, the Holborn, in our collection. That is a story for a whole new video, which will be available in the next month or so.
So make sure to subscribe if you haven't already!

I seem to see some are wired for use too, not just stored on shelves. that suggests this museum had another usage.

Amazing, this needs to be made into a museum. recreated in a more visitor friendly building. but keep the spirit of the assembly of the collection.

Nice find! Live in Belgium myself and never tought that there were still people like me who collect stuff like that (although I just have a few). Oh I remember I had such A Philips pc in my childhood. I wish I could find one one day, been searching for ages. Had a XT and an AT model.

Somehow I'm kinda sad that Jef didn't get to see you take care of his beauties. I imagine that if I had been in his shoes, it would have given me a lot of comfort in my last days to know that a museum full of people passionate about preserving computer history would take care of my collection after I'm gone.

wow, awesome! I saw two Dutch Aster CT-80 computers, or perhaps I saw one case, and one card-case plus keyboard. Considering how rare Aster CT-80 are it is great!. I had a few in my own collection (of about 180 systems), but I gave them all away to awesomespace in Utrecht, and to the computer museum in Zwolle. Perhaps I shall visit Helmand soon, I love in Zoetermeer. I think I saw almost every computer I know of, except perhaps the Coleco Adam, did not see any MSX systems (really?) and I missed the ill fated Mattel Aquarius, but it is easy to overlook. small systems like the Oric, and the Jupiter ACE. I wondered if I would see Japanese systems, but I did see Sharp MZ80K.
