The other thing to consider is your fps. If you have low fps, then the high capacity smg is much better for you.

The Cyclone feels more NC to me
Yeah I think I'll stick to the Blitz for Light Assault. This video made me realize it fits my playstyle more. I like being able to dump 50 rounds down range. Having a larger mag than most weapons and the better potential for ambushes kind of sells it for me.
For some reason SMGs always greatly expands its crosshair while flying around as a Light Assault so Carbines seem to be a better option...
Or maybe this is a bug? Would love to know which statistics on Wiki actually shows this loss of accuracy in mid-air or just jumping...
11:23 One reason to use a SMG with a medic is SMG's have the fastest weapon switch time and if you are in an outfit and primarily use your revive tool it is good to be able to switch quickly.
Enjoyed the video. I have been on the fence if it was a good idea for me to get the blitz because the cyclone have a faster TTK, but your video helped enplane things.

Agreed with your conclusion: I auraxiumed the blitz first which was the best smg for me at that time. After that i forced myself on the ns pdw and it took me a few hundred kills to learn to be as effective with it, though it was in different ranges, I loved it then and went on to auraxium that too. Then I moved on to the cyclone, and again after some adjustment time I found myself be more effective with it in almost all situations/ranges than the other smg's and it is now by far my favorite smg ;)
I love them both! Have found that not only aim, but also range, defines what SMG you should be using: for extreme CQC, use the Blitz for hip-fire only (Quake mode fuck yeah); for "to some extent" medium range, use the Cyclone for ADS only. The Cyclone is also my preferred in knife range for "almost" insta kills.
Nice vid Wrel, I used this to help figure which of those SMGs to get for my Infiltrator (NC Infiltrator main here). Ended up picking the Cyclone on account of being a very heavy ADS player (I almost always use my sights unless the loss in MS is really not worth it because of how close I am to who I'm fighting). Logged over 600 kills on my Cyclone as of now and have unlocked all the attachments so I could experiment and find my preference. Something I noted that's rather nice about the situation with the Cyclone and my being a very ADS heavy player is that it helped me decide to go with Extended Mags over Adv. Laser Sight. Reason being, the benefit of ALS is entirely for hip-fire which I don't use as much as most other players do, so I get less out of it, than a more HF oriented player would (who might also prefer the Blitz's automatically large mag size). Another point in favor of ADS use with SMGs outside of really close ranges (e.g.

Don't forget that if you're looking for an SMG then the NS-7 PDW is also an option no matter what faction you play, and it's cheaper since you can get it in the "Fresh Meat Starter Pack" bundle for 199 SC, or $1.99 if you purchase it directly from their website (which is better since you won't have to load up your account with SC).
Great video as always.The one thing that I don't really agree with is that the Cyclone is better for players with better aim.I feel that if you actually do have good accuracy, you can overcome the slightly slower TTK of the Blitz. And if you take TTK out of the occasion(where good accuracy comes into play), the Blitz is just a little more versatile given that you can either have a bigger mag and a laser, or just a much bigger mag.
Without trying to brag, I would say I'm probably in the upper tier for accuracy and have well over 1k kills with both weapons, and I prefer the Blitz.There are definitely situations when I'd rather have a Cyclone equipped though. Going against good heavies is one example. But I think both are awesome weapons and I still equip the Cyclone from time to time just to change things up.
I was the guy who accidentally killed you shooting that C4 just as you ran in that last room in your vid. And yeah that last bit with the Gal protruding through the ceiling. That was RhinoMkII's Gal and we all took damage through the ceiling when it exploded. I have both the Cyclone and the blitz. I like them both a lot. I like the Cyclone when I run Engi or Infi (which is very rare)
I've loved the Blitz since I picked it up a couple months back. The magazine size really makes all the difference to me. With most other guns, if I forget or don't have time to reload between kills, I end up dead with an empty magazine. This gun lets me lay down fire until everyone is dead or I can get to a safe enough location to reload.
Great video as always Wrel, good work. I went with your previous advice which boiled the difference down to the respective mag sizes, and in getting the Blitz I've not been disappointed. These two, especially the Blitz, reminds me so much of the KRISS Vector
The latest PTS-patch had following in the notes:
All Flashlight weapon attachments have been converted into “Darklight Flashlights”. Darklight Flashlights have the same functionality as Flashlights except they now also illuminate cloaked infiltrators that are hit by the light.
Interesting mechanic.
Kinda worthless because if they are in range of your flashlight you probably can already see the enemy.Now if they bring back advanced darkness and have infils pretty much invisible at night then that might be something special.
TheUndefynd1 It's only in testing right now, maybe they will give it a broader light, maybe a further shining light. But it seems that the light makes them visible to everyone, including shining on your own faction to the enemy (probably the first to change).
On another note: i lost several times moving cloaked infiltrator while moving myself in a crowd and crowds, i think, happen in PS2 often.
Blitz is definitely my go to CQC infiltrator weapon. I've been faithful to cyclone for a long time, but for no specific reason I switched to Blitz and loved it even more.
Medic is Carnage, Engie GD-7F.
I think I prefer the blitz, because of the general rule of thumb with quick-firing weapons: You can miss more shots and not get penalized. At slightly longer ranges, 5-10 meters, when I am hip firing, sometimes one or two stray shots may miss with the cyclone, and it causes me to die. I feel more confident that in those situations my blitz will be able to take out an enemy, though it does take a bit of range.

actually i like the cyclone more compared to the blitz
and for the cyclone i tried to play with extended magazines and with extended laser sight and ultimately like the extended magazine mor because it gives you the possibility to kill more then one target at one time ;)
and that is a major concern
Also the side arm you should choose is the comissioner or the underboss especially if you are using the cyclone without extended mags to finis your enemies quickly off after running out of ammo (which happens quietly often)

I do love the Blitz. I personally can't aim, so the spray and pray aspect really helps out sometimes, along with the 50 bullet mag.

I like the blitz because of the sheer amount of bullets you can put down range if you use burst fire to suppress the enemy. Also i have fast enough reflexes to take down 2 enemies with one mag if i need to.
IMO, the GD-7F is the best close quarters option for the LA and engineer, and the Cyclone is the best for all the other classes. I really like quick TTK weapons that reward accuracy. The Blitz is more of a "spray and pray" weapon.
I was considering the cyclone because I use the GD-7f right now. I'm CQC 90% of the time and I found high rate of fire can bring enemies down fast. I chose the GD-7F over the Blitz when I made 1,000 certs and looked at both of them because the 7F does more damage than the blitz with better range as well and has the same fire rate. The ammo capacity does not bother me for I land shots quite alright. I'm now looking at the cyclone because though they say it fires slow, 652 RPM is really fast for 167 damage. Usually for any weapon (by observation) if it exceeds 600 RPM, the damage NEEDS to be 143 or lower. extended mags on the cyclone gives me 5 more shots than the 7F, I fight very close typically, so far I see this as a huge advantage. Adding soft-point ammo will also greatly improve it. Despite this, I'm still indecisive on getting a cyclone . . .

A while back Higby tweeted some weapon stats, TR SMGs were the only faction specific SMGs to lag behind the NS7, and the Cyclone was comically overperforming. The NS7 was dead even between factions.
my favorit SMG in the two is the blitz because of the crowd control ability that the big mag allows

The first time I had to choose a SMG, i was like "MEH, 25 rounds is not enough, let's blitz." And after auraxiuming it, I tried the cyclone.. And they're well balanced, with minimum aiming skills, it's as deadly as the blitz. I only can agree with everything you said in this video. Another great review, thanks !

I personally started out with the blitz, really liked it and used it till auraxium but then stopped using it. Now i hate the blitz but LOVE the cyclone!

I like the cyclone a lot more just because it seems a bit more versatile with the extra bit of range you can get with it. The faster TTK is also very nice, it might not seem like a lot, but trust me it matters.
My favorite is the Sirius, high magazine size allows me to tear down a good three enemies before reloading! I have a couple videos showcasing this check em out

I started off with using the Cyclone, the large bullet damage seemed appealing and typical of NC weaponry, the Cyclone is all about getting close and personal so that those powerful shots hit, especially since its random jitter causes a lot of your low RoF shots to miss past CQC range, there's just no way to compensate for it so extended mags is a must if you intend to garauntee your kills.
I then tried the Blitz because i was getting really annoyed by the random jitter and wasted ammo and found a ton more bullets would connect and at even further ranges on this one so the gun in general is so much easier to control and with the higher mag size there is more potential to drop multiple targets per clip, although it will still be a good idea to snap reload when ever you can. This gun allows you to engage more targets whilst the Cyclone is about infiltrating and engaging only the most immediate threats.

Take it as you miss some shots in cqb, and you die? Yes it can be annoying, but using ironsights as much as possible. And maybe lasersight.
I auraxiumed both and can tell that the blitz is a really good weapon for light assault if you are new to the game/gerne ... after this time I really enjoyed the AF-4, because i reached the skill level required for this weapon... the GD-7F is now next...
I can recommend this order of unlock, because it introduces the CQC gungame very well and gives players that want to kill even faster the opportunity around the time they actually reached the required knowledge and skill.
P.S. you actually can engage 2 players with one Cyclone-mag...

ACX-11 a CQC gun labeled as a long range gun in short a mini saw with the added benefit of not hating yourself at the end of the day for using a smg
Shotguns will out-duel SMG's in CQC, provided the person with the shotgun can aim. Faster TTK, but outside of CQC shotguns are basically worthless -- the SMG can at least spray and pray beyond 40 yards.
yeah, atleast the cyclone works suprisingly good at range..
And yes shotguns are better in cqb, but you cannot use them as infiltrator :/

how do you weave through enemies so fast without being noticed in stealth. They almost always change their focus to me and i die extremely fast.
Idk how that works, as ill be running like 50 meters from someone cloaked and they still spot and kill me
kyle dahl You have to make sure you are out their field of view, also make sure you weave when reloading it make you so much harder to hit. Practice is key overall be sneaky.
Dont know if its worth mentioning, but the Blitz and Cyclone are two of the most quiet weapons in the game, wheather theyre suppressed or not
@ 3:18: TR weapons in a nutshell "unpredictable recoil" . That might be a good topic for discussion. RNG is not good in an FPS.
I use Blitz with suppressor on my Infiltrator and sometimes i feel that i'm shooting water instead of bullets. It's extremely powerfull if you can aim in the head and almost useless if you can not.
Trialed Cyclone some time ago and did't feel any lack of bullets in the magasine: everyone died anyway. I guess i'll buy it when i get certs and use as main weapon for HA, infil and engi.
Cyclone is my favorite. 652rpm and 167 damage? Sign me up.

i find that the blitz is more suited to heavies whereas the cyclone is more suited to light assaults and infils due to their maneuverability
Wrel, what about shotguns? What's your opinion about them as an alternative for CQC engagements? I am surprised that you didn't bring those up in this video..
i like useing the cyclone with a compensator and extended magazines soft point and a 2x
(PS4) The Blitz is going to be the first gun I auraxium. I'm only br 31 but at the moment i feel the Blitz was an excellent purchase and already have 800 kills with it. The NC seem to be kind of lacking in good cqc weapons that are standard for its classes, and the Blitz is an awesome one-time buy to solve that issue. It is forgiving but also competent and I highly recommend it if you are new, especially if you enjoy infiltrator or light assault, as those seem to be the best classes for closing the gap when you're not already in cqc.

Thanks. Didn't know, that buying weapon with SC have effect all your ch. same fraction. I'm playing VS and also thinking about SMG - its better to spend 1000 cert once for all classes, and get weapon with short reload (it match my style of gameplay).
i think in closer ingagements a shotgun as the claw for example is even more powerful than the blitz or zyklon. but this is just my opinion on the lightassault

i think the blitz is a lot more user friendly, it was one of my first auraxiums and i bought pretty early on in the game and i still ofthen use it.
i got auraxium on both, love both, maybe more the cyclone for it sound effet:) both are fun and nice to use.

I have low fps and low shooting skill but I seem to do better with the Cyclone/Grip,Softpoint,Extended Mag,silencer.I think the extra damage allows me to win some fights.(ShooterMcGavin/Connery)
Only thing I wished you mentioned is that it is the fastests firing 167 gun in the game

Well basically for me I always feel like the blitz is op (probably not its just my pov as a VS) and when I face people who have cyclone's I don't have half as much trouble winning the fight.
i have the blitz on my long, long wish list, as my aim is a bit, let's say... changing. But it will take a long time to get it cuz i spontaniously buy everything all across the board :o

If you missing a shot with the cyclone is much more unforgiving than missing with the blitz. Hence why MOST people prefer the blitz

I have a friend who bought this and other weapons with station cash for an NC character on Briggs. He wanted to change to Connery and made another NC character but absolutely none of those SC purchases were available for that new character, so he is stuck on Briggs. Should he file a ticket to SOE or is this how it is supposed to be?

Its interesting that you pointed out that SMGs are available to all calss. It might be worth it to buy with SC so ill wait til one of them goes on sale and save all those certs :P
