This song is poetry... Imo, its the best hip hop has to offer. Im 47 and was 17 when this came out. It was an absolute smash hit and the impact it had was immediate... I cant understate how big this song was in its day. After 30 years, i still get goosebumps when i hear it. Its the best rap aong ever made.

Great reaction. I feel the same way about old school rap/music. Would love your reaction to "Notorious Thugs" by B.I.G and Bone Thugs n Harmony.

It amazes me that when this song was released most people completely missed the meaning of it, and for the most part still do. "Tell me why are we so blind to see, the ones we hurt are you and me". All the banging, drug dealing, shootings, who does it really hurt? Look in the mirror for the answer. Rest in Peace Coolio,

Such a legendary artist & song from my teenage years in the 90s. Gawd I miss the 90s. Something I find funny when I watch a Kid Rock Devil Without A Cause album song reaction it amazes me when they go? “He raps?!?” Lol He started rapping youngling.

This was on the soundtrack of the movie Dangerous Minds. It's worth checking out.

To understand the meaning, you need to live in the 90s, gangs, showdowns, cops, death. I was 15 at the time

Another great storytelling song is I'm Not Racist by Joyner Lucas. It's rough so be prepared.

I would love rap more if it wasn't for all the profanity. This song is such an amazing gem because there is no swearing. Coolio proved that you can be deep without swearing. I drop f-bombs sometimes, but when I listen to my nephew's music, it's incredibly rude....lots of f-bombs, calling women b1tch3s....I just can't get past that.
