How many more rk3326 Verticals does the world need? ALL OF THEM I guess. Notes: - Now $41 (will add any coupons I find though) - This has EmuElec that is themed to look like ArkOS. Although you do get access to Retroarch settings. - This is slower than an rk3326 in initial testing, most likely just poorly optimized software (Retro Tech Dad confirmed the SOC in a teardown). - It has a hidden 2nd sd card slot that is blocked. - Battery discharged from 89% to 81% during 1 hour of gameplay. - NO WiFi, not even with a dongle adapter (currently) - Button layout is Nintendo style with YXBA.
Oh boy, you know the 1 good thing about having all of these handhelds? Lots of CONTENT to create and watch! lol! It's never a dull moment. Great review, but not for me, still lovin' my RG351V!
I've been thinking bout getting one myself actually. I got an RG351V and I LOVE how it feels and the formfactor, I just wish they made it with upgraded internals, but keep the same shell. I see this new 40XXV which appears to be the successor, but I dunno if that 4 inch screen will make it just outside of being pocketable.
You got it! I think for a casual game enjoyer this is fine, if you remove the stuff that won't play, but the ergonomics might be best for smaller hands only.
Betteridge's Law of Headlines strikes again! Ha. I'd just rewatched Stubbs' review of the R36S because I have one on the way thanks to the generosity of TH-camr OGTechNick. It'll be here tomorrow actually, so I'm looking forward to that. I'm happy to see that it's still the best of these affordable vertical handhelds. Speaking of the R36S, people on Reddit are reporting that the manufacturer, Game Console (?), has quietly pushed out a revision that effectively makes it a chimera of R36S and K36. It uses the R's shell with the guts of the K; one user accessable TF slot, EmuElec instead of ArkOS, and so on. They're reporting that it won't even run ArkOS. I don't have enough knowledge to say whether or not one OS is better than the other. My understanding is that ArkOS is a much better OS solution; but, maybe I'm wrong? It's just something to be aware of.
@mattdavis9601 ah thanks for the info, Matt man! Enjoy the K36, with new software I think it might have a better chance at becoming popular (if people don't mind the ergonomics).
Have you found any visual stutter in games it should run well? I have the same unit and it just seems the display has really bad refresh rate. 240p test suite is a good testing tool
thanks for the review! the clicky shoulder buttons on these budget devices (r36s for sure) is such a deal breaker for me. they are way too overly loud and it's very distracting. great device for kids though!
@retrohandhelds because of your review of the v10 I also have one of those on the way. I honestly only bought the kinhank k36 cause I thought it was an interesting piece of history from this weird time in technology
@@maniac_magee3830 I think that is a fair reason to have one, it is certainly unique, and not horrible by any means. V10 though, oh just so good. Thanks for watching!
No Wifi on K36.. Dongle wont work either....Its A REAL Bummer....No Network Settings included with this werid Emuelec "ES"??? 4.7...dont know what the ES is. And also Retroarch will not let you connect to wifi either. We really need an ArkOs build for the K36...then it will come to life and be Great! For now, my Rs6s is the winner... but I like the buttons and dpad better on my K36 as well.
Keep your expectations in check...PS1 and earlier....no N64 or dreamcast or PSP for me on this or the R36s...if it doesnt play 99 percent of the games from that system....I take it out of my build/image
How else would one hold it, is what I'm trying to figure out, haha. The other idea is my hands are too big for it, except a few others who bought it had the same thoughts so far 😆

It uses Emuelec, not Ark OS.

If I as would by my first Handheld device and I inteded to get the R36s or the K36... which one would you recommand?
@@dariostabletopminatures R36S for sure!
@@retrohandhelds Thanks!
R36S is still the budget king❤. A clone from a clone. thanks for the review.
This!

Great review, but not for me, still lovin' my RG351V!
Always look on the brightside! Appreciate you Kyle
The 353 is still sooo good, even today. Just pay a little more or wait for a sale
This! Thanks for editing this bad boy again.
When Stubbs peeled the screen protector off freaking creepy LMAO
Feels like you'd have to be mad to not just buy the 353V for dirt cheap during an AE sale

Absolutely. That's the winner of the form factor (for now).
The Thumbnail on this one deserves an Oscar!
Thanks! That's all @AishTalksTech's doing
I wouldn't give this to a friend that you actually like or want to keep as a friend. Thanks Stubbs lad.

@@retrohandhelds Agreed lad.
It's not "bad," but it's not for me. Color looks great though!
I'm very upset, I tried to install Arkos and it didn't work. For some reason this device only works with emuelec
Thanks Stubbs. Not interested in this but I still watch lol
Appreciate you
I think TechDweeb is going to review this just because of the donk.
HAVE to donk it!

Should I just make my own 3326 device at this point? It seems like everyone is doing it
Yes that is 100% needed, please choose ONE feature that would improve the formula and then do the opposite to keep reviewers on their toes.
@@retrohandhelds Deal. I'm going to make it OLED, but it's going to use capacitive touch buttons

Very good call! I didn't notice frame pacing or refresh rate issues for my eyes, on the next i'll see if we can get 240p test suite on.
3D print interest on desk ^^

Absolutely. Thanks for watching! Its a big missed opportunity with the loud shoulders.
Why spending over $50 on a handheld when you can buy a great one for almost half of the price, right? 😂
Have one of these on the way, but as of right now my go to budget handheld is the MagicX XU-10 with RockNix OS installed on it.
That and the V10 are my favorite budget devices right now.
@retrohandhelds because of your review of the v10 I also have one of those on the way. I honestly only bought the kinhank k36 cause I thought it was an interesting piece of history from this weird time in technology

Can’t speak to the MagicX but I’m surprised at how much I’m loving my Miyoo A30 post-Spruce OS install.
So its just a worse R36 pretty much, cool. The back ergonomics make it look like its melted too, which is kinda odd.
Nope not ArkOS
Yeah, I wish this could run Arkos *wink wink*
What's the most probable reason why an sd card with Ark OS, Amberelec or Rocknix won't work on the K36?
@@Ganimoth It probably can, uses the same chipset as many others that do run arkos.
@@X91X-km7hp Only if the chipset is different, but it's using the same chipset, it probably should be able to use arkOS.

Who needs to use their whole assed hands to hold a small handheld? I don't use my entire hands when holding an Xbox controller.

That's a very fair point! It definitely falls short of 99% for those systems
Mine didn't ship with ArkOS crazy
Because this is emuelec as well. You can see it in the video itself xD
Yep neither did mine apparently added a pinned note.
Bro hold it properly, those bumps are more ergonomic than a flat back panel!!
