The 2023 Optimist World Championship is organized by the Club Vela Ballena Alegre with the Asociación Española Clase Internacional Optimist under the authority of the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA), this event is aimed at girls and boys under 16 from all over the world and is the most important children's sailing sports event, not surprisingly, the small boat Optimist is the boat of initiation in the sailing sports competition par excellence.
While emphasizing the more formative aspect of this small boat, within the framework of the World Championship, the Club develops transversal projects in which the project stands out:

The concept "a sustainable experience" refers to the creation of a scene that is globally respectful of the environment and socially responsible for the event, and that invites you to participate in the actions proposed as part of this project.
Experience and sustainable event are related to each other, but the sustainable experience is more about the atmosphere or feeling and the sustainable event is more about the production and execution of the event, where the main objective is the sensitization and awareness of young sailors towards sustainability.
On the motto "think globally, act locally", local actions and awareness will be promoted, this principle encourages individuals and communities to take actions that promote environmental sustainability while considering the global impact of these actions.
Given that the regatta race course in the middle of the Bay of Roses, our fishing environment is made known, ultimately one of the main objectives will be to raise awareness about protecting local fishing areas, with a multifaceted approach:

• through awareness and inspiring action, of people and communities,
• encouraging them to work together to protect these vital ecosystems for future generations.
The way to promote sustainable local action and awareness is through community education and outreach programs, involving education, partnerships, and tangible actions.

• Awareness about the CO2 footprint and how to reduce and/or offset it.
• organize workshops and seminars on topics such as recycling, energy saving and sustainable living. It will focus on promoting sustainable practices as a source of awareness and inspiring local action.

Raising people's awareness of the importance of protecting local fishing grounds is crucial to maintaining the health and sustainability of these ecosystems
