    Much respect to these UK artists. They've been supporting American Hip Hop for years. I remember when the Dogg Pound were chillin in the UK in the early 90s on the documentary "The Show". Wu Tang too. It's dope to see how evolved into what it is today. 💯

    DJ L is the real drill sound originator. He doesn't get enough credit.

    • @lordg3803
      @lordg3803 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Dj Kenn, Smylez and Young Chop are the originators.

    • @MadEastern
      @MadEastern 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Jayson Hernes If you listen to UK Drill they all rap on a DJ L type of beats. For me the pure drill sound was never Young Chop, it was DJ L.

    • @A_S996
      @A_S996 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He's the most underrated producer

    • @chris45627
      @chris45627 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah those guys were apart of it but DJ L is the producer that Drill a unique sound seperate from trap with those like reggae bounce snare rhythm, Rapid snare rolls, Hi hat rolls, Dark melodies like on Lil Herb "Gangway", King Louie -Till I meet Selena, Kill Shit,etc. Chop, Kenn and Smylez did alot for drill because of the rappers they produced for too but their beats were closer to Atlanta Trap music

    • @chris45627
      @chris45627 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah Chop's sound especially on Keef's Finally Rich was like the mainstream version of Drill in 2012 when first wave of the Chicago Trap/Drill artists (Keef, Reese, Durk, King Louie) started going viral those beats were basically Down south Trap beats with a little variation but the same sounds (Brass, Arps, Bell sounds, Synth,Orchestral hits). But DJ's L sound is more original and dark sounding, That's the real Drill sound.If you watch HipWiki that's what the local rappers and gang members rap on DJ L style beats. UK Drill Producers like Mazza, Yamaica, took DJ L's sound and ran with it

    67 is injustice for lyricism in the UK. You are looking in the wrong direction in England. These lot just happened to finesse a formula mixed with street logics which today's gen can follow until they inevitably grow out of it and then the actual talented musicians they'll grow to enjoy. 67 is just a phase of the negative emotion we experience day to day however lads, milk it for what it's worth

    • @johnnygat1818

      Johnny Gat
      Dizzee Rascal - Graftin (2004)
      "living in the big brother cameras' view,
      keep an eye out for the boys in blue,
      straight 5 years getting caught that's you,
      sitting in the cell still wondering who,
      couldn't keep quiet now you're on a diet mash potatoes cauliflower & stew,
      pissed off with not a lot to do and the word on the street don't ever seem new,
      and none of it don't ever seem true,
      endless hype who do you believe?"
      Strange we're now in 2017 & 13 years later not much has changed anaylse the message in lyricism these lyrics depict how things have always been in England so to answer your response, there you have it, now research educate & don't play yourself. It's always been about the lyrics hence all the negative feedback they have Chicago for that shit. Show us something different & unique, what's life really like in England & by that you need good lyrical ability to put it across an understanding unique formulas & pockets not everyday ones which everyone's now sharing

      I wouldn't say their an Injustice to UK lyricism but im american. I think Drill rappers are just telling their stories and being lyrical in their own way. 67, 86, Harlem, etc these guys may not be the most technically skilled rappers but their lyrics paint these vivid detailed pictures of the gang lifestyle in a way that even some Chicago drill rappers don't

  • @khaliddontplay818
    @khaliddontplay818 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    FACTS- american rappers be open homosexuals,dress femenine,snitches,studio gangsters,ex-police officers, bocats, switch siders, fake beef instigating, diss track making etc... That aint a diss. its nice to see how open minded and tolerant you guys are. Because that shit is rare in UK Rap

  • @AK-ky5bp
    @AK-ky5bp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    No drill artist ever tried to 'emulate' the Chicago drill sound... They were inspired, two completely different words. Also, if you listen to the beats of UK Drill Music, you'll see the hi hat and snare patterns aren't similar at all tbh.

    • @MisyeDiVre
      @MisyeDiVre 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      AK18 that's true. UK bass has always had a penchant for polyrhythms, even since the early hardcore days, and the emceeing is very much the tradition of the toasters in Jamaica. It's a melting pot of influences, and I don't think it's fair to say they are emulating Chicago. The US and the UK have been bouncing off of eachother before hiphop and rave even existed. Bless up!

    • @raymysterio5046

      A real dumbass.... the drum, horn and synths patterns are exactly the same. There is a reason it sounds nothing like Grime, road, Garage or that other shit. It's ripped off Chicago Music. It's literally Csick/DJ L beats sped down or up.

    • @Koraxus
      @Koraxus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BigAjia sounds nothing like grime is pretty much an understatement. The most accurate thing is that UK DRILL beats are somehow inbetween chicago drill and grime.

    @shabazz360 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Big fan of the grime scene and have been since around 2011/2012ish. Gave 67 a chance seen some shit on GRM Daily ,they cool. I don't love them but I don't hate them either. PS...All y'all niggas on here wether from UK or the States on here arguing and shit y'all sound real nerdy.

    • @rogw4109
      @rogw4109 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grimes not grime anymore tbh, it's just rap that people claim to be grime cos its from the uk. Ffs some people still say 67 is grime. Don't know the difference between drill, rap, grime. remember the days of ruff sqwad n that

    67 are doing better than a lot of american artists now. A lot of american drill artists sound like they are gargling fucking water on a decent beat. You can actually understand what these lot are saying. The spearhead of the UK is Nines, he is better than the probable spearhead of America who is J Cole. no group in america is better than 67.

    I'm from LA born and raised and I'm discovering this group just now. I haven't heard their music yet but in my opinion just by looking at them, their presence speaks for itself. I clicked on the video from noticing the mask(which reminded me of slipknot) so just that alone makes people curious. Seems like they have a good chance. I just hope after listening to some of their music they actually back up their presence
