This is absolute pinnacle of motosport, not F1 or anything else. And yet it has least amount of fans and coverage. Just look at these conditions and look what drivers have to go through! Amazing and so admirable.

@@Tedkelvin Exactly. I agree with what OP said but the main issue with rally is it's not easy to present on television. A normal track race can be watched in a reasonable period of time. A day of rallying is just that, a day it takes a long time and it's not possible to have cameras at every single turn. So highlights are pretty necessary but the highlights are often kind of short and sometimes boring.

@@PlaySA I find the 1 hour race weekend recaps as an ideal compromise. You get all the action packed into about 60 minutes. Also live onboard coverage from stages is also enjoyable.
I just wish Taka wouldn't have made the mistake in the morning... With his pace in the afternoon loop, he'd be battling with Evans for the rally lead. It would have been such a great thing to have Taka win his first WRC rally in his native country of Japan!
Go Taka! Always cheering for the #18 Kasuta/Johnston car.
Hardly his mistake as neither him or cars following had any idea it was so bad in that corner. None of them had a chance of making it and Taka got lucky he didn't fall in the ditch as well.

I know it's not ideal for the drivers, but it's hard not to respect them for battling the elements like this. Katsuta refilling his radiator with water from a stream, Tanak peering under his windshield for any kind of visibility - it's unbelievable what these drivers have to do!
I think it was Tanak who tried to look under the fog on his windshield, but yes it's great to watch the action this weekend

Sadly there's no ridiculously lenghty rallies anymore. Like safari in the 90's. These conditions give drivers a little taste of proper survival/endurance rallying!
Funniest thing is that a Rally2 car could make the podium overall. 😂

it's wild that on the first day Toyota wasn't even in the top 3 and now they are leading 1-2-3, thanks to Hyundai boys crashing and Tanak's Ford self imploding, which is unironically how this season has been unfolding

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has any photos from the wrc exhibition event that happened in 1999 at the Manukau Velodrome?
I would’ve been 6 years old at the time. I just want to see if I can spot myself as a kid.

@@a_single_white_female needs air con and teams dont want to add weight or complexity to the cars, yes i know its a joke as the are rally cars but blame the WRC silhouette spec where rally cars dont need to resemble road cars or have basic necessities like air con..

This day was super tense and was all about minimizing mistakes. Was really hoping for a Neville & Evans fight. But I'm really happy to see more tomorrow and let's hope Taka will keep the pace up and Lappi gets more confidence on tarmac!
Taka needs no more pace up he needs more take on the safety lines and his concentration .

How do they not use anti fog on the inside of the windscreen at this high level of competition?
Muisture gets insiden anyways so no much help.
Race cars typically strip out any non-vital component in order to have the lightest weight. Considering how rarely the windows actually fog, it would be dead weight most of the time.
@@ikr9358 Anti fog is a gel that comes in a bottle. Applying it to the inside of the windshield would be less than an ounce of weight. Your comment is absurd.
