I have the AM5 (with ASCOM Driver 6.5.26) .and Sequence Generator Pro. I saw that the RA and DEC Coordinates diferrent in both software menues, maybe it could be that SGP use "Epoche J2000" and the ASCOM Driver use "Epoche JNow"!? I hope you can soon mabe both JNow and J2000
I'm interested in buying this mount. Can this mount track accurately for exposures over 300 seconds with a Celestron edge HD 8" or similar telescope aiming at small deep sky objects using its focal length of 2032mm? What is the maximum exposure time that can accurately be used with Edge HD 8" at maximum focal length with all the ZWO accessories available attached? Will a counter weight give better tracking?
@@zwoastro thanks for explanation. Can this mount be used for small objects like galaxy? I read its description page and find "not recommended for focal length than 900mm"
@napper1496 yes, but generally for galaxies, especially if you want to image more than just m31 and m33 with decent resolution, you typically need longer focal lengths. I'm sure that's what he meant. To actually answer his question though, I believe the focal length limit seems to be more related to the mount getting off balance and tipping with longer scopes. If you have a beefy tripod or have your tc40 secured, this mount should do fine with longer focal lengths. There have been many instances of people reporting using their edge hd 8" with great results. I own one as well and plan on using the am5 with it.
It is good that they put a tutorial, but it should be more detailed, showing all the functions and at a speed that one can see and understand the operation at the same time. I also expect a well-detailed manual for its use. This wait is getting too long!
I will not buy this mount for the following four reasons: 1- the USB and power connections are at the front (the person who designed that has obviously never imaged), 2- the lower temperature range is only -15°C, 3- the mount refuses to go past the meridian and ZWO has not allowed users to set their limits, 4- it is obvious the AM5 was designed to work with the ASIAIR and the rest of their ecosystem. (others such as NINA, PHD2, SGP are after thoughts).
I wouldn't have a problem with the port locations IF I could use an RJ45 connection as opposed to USB (like the EQdirect cable/serial to USB). A standard B-type USB port is a bit finicky when it's part of a moving unit and the rectangualr peg in the middle is prone to breaking. The temperature range would be my biggest obstacle as I like to image on a cold winter night as those are best seeing conditions here in lower New York. Finally, I have no desire to use a freaking Rasperri Pi to control my OTA, and I certainly wont buy an ASIAir. That said, it's not completely off the table (RPi) but only for situations when I'm away from home and don't want to waste juice powering my laptop.
This is what happens when no one at your company can speak English, and so you need to employ AI to make a narration for your commercial.... to wit: "hex ranch", instead of "hex wrench". I'm sure the product is fine, but I would have preferred a thick-accented actual person to do the talk-over. It just gives more confidence in the company.
I understand these guys are chinese, and probably not well versed in the speaking of english, however you could've hired a native english speaker (Simon Lewis???) to narrate this clip. Now we have this computer generated emotionless voice....
Narration sounds excellent...and the Tutorial even Better...Thank you so much!
Very nice piece of new unobtanium. This could be the perfect mount if it works the way it looks!

thanks for releasing an update. whats the degradation in tracking performance at full load capacity? thats 15kg plus the 5kg counterweight right?
Looks Great!
Can you please also release an Alt-Az only mount i.e. the AM5 without the latitude adjustment mechanism? Thks!

With good guiding (for 2032 mm probably something around 500-600mm) it should do the job
Is there a video showing polar alignment?
👍👍👍
Lots of complaints about the power button on the mount failing after only 1 or 2 presses. Any plans for an updated button?
Yea how about answering this question? I won't buy it if the power button fails like napper says
Good to see a tutorial of AM5, wonder what the Azimuth mode is for? Can ASIAir pro do plate solving and guiding in Azimuth mode with AM5?
Altazimuth mode, which means the mount can be used as an altazimuth mode. Thus plate solving can be done with AM5, but guiding not.

@@OscarShu focal length limit has nothing to do with what images it can take, whether it’s planetary or galaxies

Nice!
During polar alignment, do we still need to lock/unlock the Alt&Az adjustment knobs?
Thank you for your support! You'll need to rotate the knob or the grip for polar alignment.
Wow❤️

Thanks for your suggestions, we will slow down next time. ;D
put the video at .75 speed if you need to
Just slow it down yourself smh

I get the ecosystem argument but probably half the people complaining about that use their iPhone, MacBook, and Apple Watch every day.

Why don't you use a human voice actor?

As soon as I heard a robot talking I stopped the video.

Wish they would use a human to give the tutorial 😒
No problem!
