Ok, I just got this, and it is awesome. Creative, re-playable, fun, cooperative, inventive, and with elements from several other really good games. Delivered on my expectations for sure.
the game seems pretty cool at first, but some parts of the game need to be improved. such as the items at the cargo hold. for example, remote: it basically gives you 2 free actions. yet it requires you to move to cargo hold (1 action). and you actually need to pick it up (1 action). the point was to 'reserve' the 2 actions for future use, but it is absolutely useless when there are better things you can do such as spending action points to pick up battle plans. and then the characters are completely imbalanced. some characters are just dead weight to have on board. for example: when you are given the choice of soldier or weapons officer, weapon officer bonus is reduce 1 action when firing or making torpedos...so...that is like 2 bonus action at best. while soldier kills EVERY alien in the room from her armory which normally would have cost 1 action per alien. the bonus can spike up to 10 if there are like 10 aliens in the room. (but alien groups usually have 2-4 aliens) the game's difficulty level is right on the spot imo. and there are so many alert cards up to red...i wonder if one can even get to red...orange is really really brutal...you either win or lose before you ever get to red. maybe in insane difficulty? i don't know.
Your assertion is true, but only if your goal was to move to the cargo hold just to pick up that tool. If you were already there and just picked it up for later use, then mathematically it gives you a free action.
