The solaredge is integrated with the mind of the solar pv system we have, so any excess solar will automatically heat the hot water with no input from us. The question to ask, is that worth 7x the cost of this?…Im not so sure.
This is great information. I also watched the Plumberparts video on this and have bought one. Can you switch it on and off rather than using one of the functions? Thanks again
Thanks for video, hard to find any use info on this, have an economy 7 immersion ( apartment so no solar alllowed :( could you give an update after 10 months
Unfortunately I no longer have this fitted as have a solar integrated system now. This did work very well for the time I had it and was a good option cheap option.
I doesn’t have a direct integration, but it doesn’t need to. You set the schedule on this which will negate the need for your boiler to heat the water.
My tank has a temperature sensor so cuts the boiler off when its at the selected water temp. I anticipate most water tanks and boilers have a water temp adjustment on them. Therefore if your water has been heated via electricity the boiler will not heat using gas
@@DIYJourney1 Thank you. I have solar panels which heats up the cylinder through an immersion heater, and cylinder can be heated through boiler too. But the problem is I don't know how hot the cylinder is, and heat the water unnecessarily using gas or electricity override. If there was a gadget to measure the temperature of the water inside the cylinder, I can avoid this situation.
This T Smart Immersion thermostat measures the temperature of the water and you can see that on the app. You immersion will cut off when at temperate though but it is key to turn it off, not to waste power as you say.
I get the off peak top up , but i can’t understand why it can’t use the solar power bypass feed as well, I basically went down the solar diverter root, to heat my two 00 litre cylinders using thf 16kwh combined solar on the property and at the time divert the rest to the heat pump , I’ve ditched the heat pump now as it couldn’t cope with the winter we had last year with 20 days no grid power (buffalo ny state) with one epic snow storm , we only got 2.2 -3kwh solar peak but it was enough for power to the battery but not the heat pump , (that also left us in less than 14c due to unable to cope with the conditions . Doing a defrost cycle every 15 mins , even with a soft starter it couldn’t cope
I bought one of these in January, and just got round to fitting it a couple of days ago, only to find it doesn't work and the screen wont power up. Ive since learnt a lot of plumbers have been sending them back due to faults on day 1. Nice idea, terrible production quality
6:19 can you operate this T smart device along with your unit for sending the excess solar power to your immersion
Hi, does it have a boost function? Can the boost be set to 30 or 60 mins etc?
Yes it does, each room in 30mins-3hr or boost all for 1hr
So Glad you done this video, whats the benefits of the solar edge immersion than the Tesla t-smart? Not sure if i understand it right ? Thanks

Could you go for infrared heaters and go all electric
You absolutely could, however consideration would be needed for battery storage sizing to accommodate such an increase in daily usage.

Does this work with Google nest please? Thank you.

@@DIYJourney1 Thank you so much. But how does nest know if the tank is cold or hot without a thermostat please?

It can use solar.
@@DIYJourney1 was there a software update , my version didn’t recognise the solar feed excess power so had to swap it for an iboost
Im meaning via the existing breaker board, but it wont connect directly to solar edge system as far as I am aware.

I suppose sometimes things do break regardless of age. Hopefully the support and replacement is suitable.
