    A man walking down a shady lane sees a farmer hoisting a pig on his shoulder up to an apple tree so the pig can eat.
    The man asks:"Why not just shake the limbs and let the pig eat the apples off the ground? It'd save time."
    The farmer says:"What's time to a pig?"🤣🤣😆

      Another use they have while alive is for Pannage. Where they're let out to roam and eat the fallen acorns that are poisonous to horses and other animals. It's kind of an outdated/redundant thing now, but it is still done in the area I grew up in.

      @@johnm8224 etymology on that is kinda split. some claim it's because the wire brush makes a squealing noise when it is sent down a pipeline (it sounds like a whoosh to me more than anything). I suspect calling it a Pipe Inspection Gauge may be a bit of a bacronym where they retrofit the description into the word. Jury's out.

      If its purpose is to clean the inside of pipes then it's neither a 'guage' nor an 'inspection device'.
      It could be that it 'routs out the muck' like a pig's snout through mud.

    • @ktuluflux
      @ktuluflux ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trueaussie9230 that's a fair challenge but i'm relaying what i've heard it called on site when we were pigging a line. The way I thought about it was not a gauge (like a noun e.g. pressure gauge) but probably as a verb to gauge how gunked up the ID of the pipes got. This is very pedantic but this is a QI video after all lol

      Now that you mention it, it doesn't seem like any country/culture does milk pigs, and I wonder why that is. Every other farm mammal gets milked by someone: in Asia they apparently milk horses and donkeys, and cheese from goats and sheep are common, and of course the ubiquitous cow's milk. But I've never heard of anyone drinking or consuming pig's milk.

Most of the 42 areas of manufacturing can be all plant based and would cost significantly less along with reducing the climate footprint drastically. I was annoyed that all of the uses (bar one) are for dead pigs, when the uses for living pigs are more interesting.
    And then Stephen made the utterly ridiculous and false claim that (apart from truffle hunting), there are no uses for a living pig.
    This is most disappointing.
