    England could quite easily have been a tiny luxury, boutique country prospering in blissful neutrality - like Switzerland, such is it’s huge global influence beautiful counties steeped in history.
    Sadly, local councils /politicians have no respect for their own land nor their subjects/ citizens. Pure greed and misspent funds on outside interests instead of prioritising the infrastructure and needs of indigenous and existing UK residents.

    Wisbech should definitely be on this list. It's the first town I've visited in the UK and not felt safe. It had an almost lawless feel to it. I couldn't wait to leave and get back to Leicester; so that tells you how bad it is.

    I'm unfortunate enough to live in Scunthorpe, here the air is so polluted that we wake up each morning to the sound of the birds hacking, everything's covered in coal dust and the people just look downtrodden, they wander the litter covered town centre with a look of sheer misery on their care worn faces

    Also not on this list which some may question is actually Chester and I'm a Cestrian myself . This is a city of huge imbalance. The best part of this place is the city centre, which is perhaps the north wests best city centre. The outskirts though like Blacon, Lache , Kingsway are crap frankly and Blacon notorious, and remember this is Cheshire however Chester and Runcorn are not like proper leafy East Cheshire. There's not really any middle ground here. The centre is just a front really for the huge amounts of tourists that visit every year.

    Co'ville holding its own with the heavy weights like Rochdale. Given its an obscure town compared to t'others its quite an achievement to make it onto the list. Its redeeming feature is its kebab house, Kashmir Tandoori. Best kebab I've ever had, they make everything fresh.

    I escaped Sheffields spice girls, beggars and muggers. During my 50 years as an industrial plumber paying tax and national insurance I naively thought that we were paying for and keeping a decent civilised country fit to hand over to our younger generation with an even better standard then we had. How that went down the pan. A vote for brexit, a vote for an 80 seat majority cabal soon stripped away all my ideals. Luckily I was there before the last lifeboat was launched, so love from a happy legal resident of the EU and Gran Canaria.

    Burton upon Pothole I mean Trent should be on a newer version of this list I think. It’s depressing atmosphere, false advertising to try to bring ANYONE to the town and dependency on an industry that while central to the towns history is being taken apart and ripped out of the town piece by piece. The towns roads are so ignored by the council that there is as much pothole as there is road in some streets. The towns latest advertising for tourists suggests the National Arboretum is in Burton when it’s actually down the A38 in Alrewas with no direct bus running there from the town centre says it all really.

    This is rather questionable. St Helens in Merseyside/Lancashire is grim, really grim. This place is disproportionately crap compared to the rest of the county, housing estates almost in the town centre, the town centres shops are much abandoned, then also to have 3 , YES 3 adult gaming centres in one frankly very small town centre (it was previously 4!) targeting the already very poor and vulnerable, well this says a lot. Also most supermarkets only central, nothing on the outskirts barely. Also this place has no Central library, nor a fully functioning police station and court.
    The only thing that saves this place is the friendliness and spirit of the people.

    In my opinion the towns with green and trees look a lot wealthier. The poorer the cities/towns the less greenery there is, although lots has been spent on spying on people instead (see my video on Blackpool). In the UK here is a dire lack of green within walking distance in the cities/towns. I know that in Luton they ripped up the town square green with hundreds yr old trees and paved it over with slabs from China that cost 3 million pounds. It now complements the dingy shopping centre with boarded up shops. Hypocritical when we are told to go green and nothing is planted.
    Towns were beginning to reap the benefits of industry when Thatcher, at the behest of her global masters, decimated industry in the UK After that the decline continued to the sad state of affairs now. The younger gens born into it know nothing better. Also British people, including prince Charles, like to hang on to the traditional ways and are not open to change/improvement/modernisation.

      You made interesting points
      Notice how front gardens have disappeared and made way for paved or tarmac parking?
      I can say from experience the Black Country conurbation was full of Lyme trees…. To clean the air…. All the biggest houses in the towns lined the parks…
      Today many trees have gone… not replaced and new migrants tend to like chopping them down in their gardens….

    • @mrswigglebottom967
      @mrswigglebottom967 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Durgesuth Thanks. A relative lives in an area where migrants are the big majority and I can concur with your last statement. They are more interested in accruing cars and house extensions. Indeed a lot of trees have gone and the gardens used as a dumping grounds (because the council charges to remove large waste). The councils are also responsible for chopping down trees and that particular council has many migrants at the helm. The English led councils are just as bad. It is called progress?

    • @Durgesuth
      @Durgesuth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrswigglebottom967
      Yes I think we’ve got to a dead end with progression at best we struggle to maintain what we’ve taken for granted in our cities and towns
      I had a conversation recently about progress with an older couple who said the Blackcountry had a massive network of electric trolley buses in the 40s and 50s which could take you to any destination…. Today we have a light tram line that travels to Birmingham and Wolverhampton…it constantly breaks down due to defects in the system and is expensive to operate . They also said nothing was waisted with food and make do and mend was the norm… So much was recycled
      We are only treading water at best and in many ways going backwards….
