When I was 6, I saw my grandparents watching a movie where a snake came up thru the toilet. I spent the next 4 years of my life terrified of the toilet, hovering an inch or 2 above the seat every time. This video just brought back all those fears I had long since forgotten

I remember this story about a guy who was getting ready for work, and he needed the restroom to himself. His daughter, who was maybe about 5, was in there about to use the toilet but he picked her up and told her to wait outside for a second. While he was getting ready, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye, and when he looked over he saw there was a rattlesnake in his toilet bowl. If he hadnt got his daughter out she would possibly have died.

I live in a small North American city that has lots of immigrants directly from Africa, and while talking to a friend who'd settled here from Ghana, I asked her what she missed most and least about her former home. While her answer about what she missed didn't surprise me (her extended family, the local special cuisine, actual sunshine more than once a year), what she *didn't* miss floored me - in her words: "Black Mamba in the toilet." Apparently, this powerfully venomous snake likes the cool, dark, and damp, and in her home village it was commonplace to find them lurking under the base of the toilet, or in the cisterns. I asked her how they all kept from getting bitten by snakes all the time, and she laughed and said "we learn to be very, very careful when entering a dark room." Now, she's a nurse and has a nurse's sense of humor, so I always thought she was pulling my leg, silly white girl that I am.
    Now I wonder...

I knew about the rat thig already but the snake thing is new to me. I always look before I sit and I also flush the toilet at least once before I use it, just to make sure it's clean.

You can’t make door opening noises without a door on screen. I’m sitting in the dark alone and immediately jumped to the conclusion my house was being invaded by a snake juggling lunatic.
