- Set to music, I make a bonsai group planting from well-rooted ficus microcarpa cuttings from other trees. I wanted a mounding form that would look like a small tropical island. I used sphagnum moss mixed with soil for a top coat, providing weight to hold the trees in place and will help keep the mounded form. The final footage is from a month after the original planting - you can see there is new growth, and they seem to be establishing quite well.
Just started a bunch of cuttings this am. Told son you can NEVER have 'too many plants', haha. Ficus forest here we come!
Exactly - and who can argue with free material?
That’ll look pretty slick as that canopy comes in. Well done, good sir.
Thanks! I am hopeful that they thicken up and the moss helps grow some aerial roots close to the ground.
What a great idea for all of those cuttings. i love the pot. Using the sphagnum was a good idea - now I know what I must do with my cuttings :)
Thank you! My collection grew over the summer, and I really needed something to reduce the footprint before I bring them inside - this worked out so far and is becoming one of my favorite plantings.
Mantap bang bonsai groupingnya hadir menyimak proses penanamannya 👍🙏
The trees and the music will guide you.
