    Hi, you made me think how amazing it would be to use the transparency in drawing. Perhaps using 3 layers of the paper to draw one image, near view, mid view and far view. Like a cityscape on the bottom layer, cars and people on the second and detail (or all the colour? On another layer). Or a landscape hills and sky on one layer, trees on a second and small florals or wildlife on another. All layered to make one image, but each being something of their own… anyway, just thought I would share. Annie

      YES EXACTLY!! I have been doing them with different media and then I thought, “what if I use the notepad to layer them, each sheet for a different medium? I can’t wait to try it and to see what you do!

    This is so rad. I really like your idea for the drawing and scientific journal. It reminds me of when I first saw Donnie Darko and how I first saw the Rita Sparrow book she wrote on time travel. I thought maybe it was real, after looking it's not haha Also reminds me of like Quidditch Through the Ages or Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them kind of thing. So cool. I want to buy some of these and can't wait now!!!

      Omg yes, the Donnie Darko one! I was definitely inspired after watching Gravity Falls 🤣 but it reminded me of all those books that looks so mystical and mysterious from shows and movies and I’ve just always wanted one!

    New to your channel and thanks for sharing. By the time i discovered the onionskin notebook they are sold out. I have a couple of notebooks with Tomoe River paper the 54 gsm (which is great for drawings and some mediums) Sadly that company no longer is in business and was looking for something like these notebooks and ran across journalers on YT talking about this notebook. Along the way I found some newer channels to watch and get more ideas. Thanks for sharing your journals today.

      When I first got the white one and started using it as a sketchbook, I put too much pressure on myself to have everything be beautiful in it. And since I didn’t want it to be covered up in any way, just had to deal with when my drawings didn’t turn out how they wanted 😅 BUT I feel like that taught me more than perhaps I would have learned otherwise!

    I've been seeing videos about these notebooks all over TH-cam, but didn't pay attention because they are mostly about journaling (writing). I don't think I would keep a diary in this notebook, but the idea of using it as a sketchbook is intriguing. I LOVE the Alien journal you're creating. And creating fantasy world for the one with the map cover is an awesome idea. I want to create an art habit of sketching daily life. This notebook may be on my wishlist now.

    • @GrungeGranny
      @GrungeGranny  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much!! It actually got me into drawing Bc I love seeing the way the paper “reacts” to whatever medium ive used-and seeing the images lay over each other makes me weirdly pumped to keep going and adding to it? I really want to do the maps idea but I need to see if there’s some “how to do cartography” videos because I really don’t even know where to start. Lately I’ve just been looking up pictures of vintage and fantasy maps to get ideas 😂 Sketching daily has helped me so much!! I used to say that I sucked at drawing people, but I’m on 14/100 people drawings and there’s already improvement! Wowsers the first one was rough though 🤣

    • @GrungeGranny
      @GrungeGranny  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I’d say the Pilot Metropolitan! You can get it for less than $15, the cartridges come in a number of colors, and it’s been rated as one of the top of the cheaper fountain pens on a number of pen blogs!

    • @GrungeGranny
      @GrungeGranny  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that one is made from an actual ox bone-I was looking up bone folders and it popped for me on Amazon and it seems to be from an actual small business that’s using amazon as their store front (like Etsy) but I’m not 100% positive about that. I think you can search “bone dip pen” and surely one will pop up!

      It’s one of the most lovely paint pens! Mine are in the fine tip but the palettes of them are sooooo lovely and satisfying. They also go down relatively opaque so they’re my favorite to layer over different mediums!
