Just got my M11. Always love watching Nick’s videos to get me up to speed. Nick I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again you’re the best Leica brand ambassador ever!
This is a great video. The m11 is my first digital M and this helped walk me through the menus. One question I am having is whether or not the Summicron 50mm f/2 Dual Range is or is not compatible with the m11. The manual says incompatible, but some owners say it is. I am concerned I could damage the m11, but would love to be able to use all my lenses. Do you have any insight on this? Thanks for a great video!
I have no experience with this lens unfortunately. AFAICT, it physically fits the M240, so should fit the M11. But I suspect it will not focus to infinity and I'd be super careful focussing. The rangefinder will not work but LiveView or EVF should. If in any doubt at all, don't use it!
@@LeicaCameraAustralia Good advice! I asked Leica Ecommerce, who referred me to the repairs dept in Germany and they said it is NOT compatible and using it and any resulting damage would nullify the warranty, (just in case anyone else comes across this and is wondering). Thanks for your response. I have watched all your stuff!
How do you focus on moving people or objects with the OVF? Without using the liveview of course... because I don't like it and I find it rather inaccurate. The reason I have a Leica M is to do everything with the OVF. Thanks in advance for your reply, Regards.
When I chose a user profile (street, B&W etc for example) and use it, often when i turn it off it goes back to the default profile instead of keeping what was last used. Is there a way to keep the setting i last had on?
Nick, as always, thank you. I have been a regular on your 'channel' since before I ordered my first Leica, the M11. I've been trying to get some info on if the new highlight metering option in the recently released firmware is recommended? And if so, is it only in certain circumstances (outdoor in normal daylight) and most of the time?
Highlight metering is there, but I guess it needs another update to get preferred results ☺️ At least on my end it very often gives similar results as multi field metering (most right option). On bright days I use multi field with an average of minus 1 compensation (depending on the weather ;)
On other cameras Toggle Focus Point is a Custom Button feature, but with the M11 being manual focus, there is no option to re-centre. Just tap the centre of the screen.
I have a new M11 camera, but there is a constant bug. When I return the camera from sleep mode, the red light is on and the screen does not turn on and I can't take pictures, сamera freezes. Only after taking the battery out does it start working
Love this overview. Thanks. The M11 is out of my price range. It's an aspirational purchase for me. But I patiently wait for the debut of the CL2 sometime this year. It will be my first Leica. I presume this settings tutorial will apply to the CL2 whenever it gets released.

Excellent. Thank you for a very informative video, paced at a rate that a non-expert can take in. Really, really helpful.
I wish the digital crop would also change the frame lines on the OVF.
My M11 is arriving Friday! I can't wait. This was one of the best tutorials I've seen for any camera!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for your a,axing series of tutorials. They have been the most helpful resource for me.
You're very welcome!
Very clear and detailed. Helpful and like it. Thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you very much for sharing your know how. I just got my M11 and you saved me hours of instruction manual boring time spend.
Glad it helped
Great job Leica. Less is really more in photography. I'd love to see M11D in the near future
Maybe one day!
Thanks for the explanation from Germany
How do I replace DNG and JPG buttons with self-timer and digital zoom?

Wonderful vid.
How do I save User Profiles?
It keeps defaulting back to factory reset. Thanks

That is unusual behaviour. It should remain where you left it. I’m afraid I don’t know why you are seeing this.
See if there is anything in this thread that helps:

Hi How do you always bring back the Focusing guide to the center
On other cameras Toggle Focus Point is a Custom Button feature, but with the M11 being manual focus, there is no option to re-centre. Just tap the centre of the screen.
Also the constant problems of Focus peaking. I select it in Info Profile, select the color, but probably it very rarely works
what are the round red dot on my view finder

Beautiful camera, thanks for the info.
Always very helpful! Thank you.

The profiles are imposible to set
If I wanted to rent a Q2 or M10/11, in NSW, does anyone have an option? One that doesn't lock me into a 6months rental? Thank you
I'm sorry. I don't know of any place to rent a Leica. You could try calling a Leica store and see if they know.
@@LeicaCameraAustralia Thanks, i'll give Syd a try.
Thanks. This video really helps 👍
Great!
Leica keeps forgetting to add self timer to exposure bracketing....Handy if you don't have a remote shutter release or app (phone) with you!
You are quite right, and the M11P now has Self Timer on a seperate menu.
simply not interested. TG I don't own one. Oh! What about purple fringing!?
