In Manipur, the meiteis (53% of Manipur population) from the plain area want to be recognized as a Tribal but the Kukis from the hill area didn't support it,so the meiteis started to burn the Kukis Christians Churches ( more than 300 churches), attack the police station and looted more than 4000 machine guns. And as this escalated they started to kill the Kukis, beheaded the Kukis and a major clashes happened leading to the death of more than 160 people. The Kukis flee to Mizoram because Kukis and Mizo are of the same ethnics tribe. And for your information the CHIN people are separated by the British colony, the actual geographical area of the Chins spread from Western part of Burma, Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura. So, I think you can understand about the presence of the Kukis ( which the BJP consider them as foreigner) in Manipur is not a new or strange thing. And for more than 3 month the PM shut his mouth. Kuki-Zo are not part of kangleipak/Manipur, no one is denying that fact. However the size of Kangkeipak/Manipur is questionable. It was only 650 sq miles as recorded by the British and it did not include kuki inhabited hills. It is very foolish of the meiteis to attack the kuki-zo people because truth be told, the meiteis are much closer to chin-kuki-lushai people than they are to Naga tribes, in terms of language and culture as they have always lived together harmoniously. In fact Meitei clans like Moirang and Khuman were once kuki-zo people before their subjugation by the Ningthous. During the British period, the Kuki-Zo people defended the valley from the Naga raids. They even came with the Meiteis to invade their brethren in Lushai and Chin lands in the past. But now that separation of the heart is complete, physical separation is just the next obvious step. When that happens the Naga will also get their Greater Nagaland, and these meiteis will end up with their original 650 sq mile valley kingdom as Manipur state. Kuki-Zo are not part of kangleipak/Manipur, no one is denying that fact. However the size of Kangkeipak/Manipur is questionable. It was only 650 sq miles as recorded by the British and it did not include kuki inhabited hills.
It is very foolish of the meiteis to attack the kuki-zo people because truth be told, the meiteis are much closer to chin-kuki-lushai people than they are to Naga tribes, in terms of language and culture as they have always lived together harmoniously. In fact Meitei clans like Moirang and Khuman were once kuki-zo people before their subjugation by the Ningthous. During the British period, the Kuki-Zo people defended the valley from the Naga raids. They even came with the Meiteis to invade their brethren in Lushai and Chin lands in the past.
But now that separation of the heart is complete, physical separation is just the next obvious step. When that happens the Naga will also get their Greater Nagaland, and these meiteis will end up with their original 650 sq mile valley kingdom as Manipur state. Their greed is getting the better of them.
