I took this train a few months ago. Very comfortable and efficient. I left my phone on the train and got it back within about 15 minutes - a testament to the honesty and efficiency of people in Japan.
I'm still struggling with just how clean your train, stations and country in general are, they are all a credit to the people who use and respect them enough not to ruin or deface them

It is cool how in Japan they make public infrastructure so nice there. It seems the public there appreciates it and takes care not to ruin it. I like the assignment seating. You don't have to bum-rush in and worry if you will have a seat. Once in US the only seat I got was in the bathroom!

Wow, no one is jumping the turnstile. No one getting pushed off the platform in front of the train. No slashing or mugging. Not even a person getting set on fire. Must be nice to live in a society like that.
I lived in Japan the happiest time in my life. Everything works like its supposed to, clean,orderly, respect and decency. No crime Etc. I miss you Japan.

Quick explanation of the shutters at 11:40, based on Japanese built trains used in the UK. This is either: 1. Equipment bay for traction current handling equipment or inverters, normally for converting current from the overhead wire to what the traction motors need to move the train. (N.B: The equipment behind the shutters should be sufficiently insulated and this passage safe for use as a passenger. If not, you'd need a key to access it.) 🚅⚡🤘 2. Stowage bay for on-board food and drink retail carts. (Used on British trains, though these look a bit too large for that purpose especially with the trains having vending machines on them.) The interesting thing about these is that the traction inverter sound on these is _very_ similar to the Class 80x trains used in the UK (In themselves derived from the 800 Series Shinkansen, hence their TOPS class) so it's amazing to think that the trains we started to get from Japan from around 2009 and 2018 are probable descendants of these...Though you can see how much more the Rapi:T rocks about for its 1,000mm track gauge (The British ones are Stephenson standard 1,435mm gauge). 😇

I'm coming to Osaka in April and will visit the Expo, but I'm arriving via Shinkansen form Tokyo. And on the way home I'm flying from Nagoya as the flight tickets were a lot cheaper from there, so I'll sadly miss out on riding this train. Looks cool though, like a submarine!

関西在住で関空利用時、東方面に住んでる人には、便利やろね。
僕等、西方面に住んでる者にとっては、一度難波まで回り込まなアカンし、南海やから馴染みも薄いし余計かも知れません。
でも、１回は乗りたいですね。
然し、外国人だらけやなぁ…。
関空に用事が無くても、ラピート乗ってみたくなりました😄

最新車両と比べれば設備面などで年季を感じるところはありますが、それでも未来感があって登場から30年以上の古さを感じさせないのが素晴らしい。
まさに未来のような、過去のような、ですね。

はるかは271系と281系に別れていて271系にあたる率があまりないので基本は281系の古い座席がメインだと思っておいた方がよい‼️そう考えると安くて快適性のあるラピートを関西空港に向かう人はぜひお勧めだと思います‼️JRは早ければいいと言うわけではない‼️そう言う意味では私鉄の特急はJRに勝っています‼️

I went to Expo 70 when I was stationed at Yokota Air Base 1969-1970. Still have lots of pictures and literature from it.
