The turtle is cool! I really enjoy your channel. I'm new at wood working and have only made a few projects and my son wants me to make a rustic hall tree for his garage so the kids have something to put their bookbags, coats and shoes on when they get home from school. I watch your channel because your so down to earth, entertaining and knowledgeable. Every time I watch you make something I feel like I learn a lot. I have even learned to Adadabaglue in my projects. Keep up the great videos. Thanks!!!
I like that! Very different. I don't think i would have added that to the back either. I might have built the shell up with alternating dark and light hardwood layers, smaller layer each time to create that shell shape? So much you could do with something like this!
😍😩😍😩 my tropical heart is loving this tutorial soooooo much!... Thanks for showing us how to do it. 🫶🏾❤️Another favorite video of yours. Thanks my friend!.
I really like the burl. It's awesome! Hopefully you get burls in each mystery box! Otherwise you will have to find a supplier for burls! People also like frogs and bears too
I actually thought you were going to add the burl on. I'd love to see the second turtle 🐢 with the burl 😊 I have my own idea for a spin on this 🤔 💭 Can't wait to try it!
I think it has more utility without the burl, be it different size plant stands, candle holders, or some such. Would you keep the burl rough or sand it down, or try to turn into a smoother shell shape even?
You're the only person I know that can make making a turtle so badass!! What you gonna do with the rest of the "mystery" wood you got. I feel some more projects comin up!! (fingers crossed) Love the video man! Keep em coming!
Well. There are two ways to go about it. Leave it flat to put things on it or add the burl for a turtle shell type thing. I would do both and sell them as a set. Problem solved in my opinion. Awesome vid bro.
He's cute! I love turtles. Can't wait to see the one you do with the Burl and the modifications you add. Keep em coming Bearded Viking Woodworks 💪🏼🔥💜🔥🤘🏼
I say you leave it as is and put little succulence on top as a display. Then you can make a second turtle with the burl on the back with randomly placed holes drilled in the top as a pen/pencil holder.
My first thought about the burl… if a piece is thick enough, hollow it out to make it a “cover”. So the shell would be a lid and something could be stored under it. Even cooler would be to go a bit further and make the turtle so it’s also a container… with the burl being the lid / removable shell.
Burl is a deform that looks like a tumor on a tree , is that what you have ? If they’re big enough you can do end tables with them, I use them for bandsaw boxes and such
With the way you cut those plugs to use as dowels, do you think there might be some issues with the grain running across them like that? I'm genuinely curious... I'm pretty new to woodworking. Love your videos, by the way.
Awesome video, as always man! I have a question for you. I’m a beginner woodworker, with a bunch of tools, but I’ve been thinking I need a planer/jointer lately. What is the best bang for your buck, entry level jointer in your opinion?
I love iit with the rounded pice for the shell but how can you keep making them that way Allso is there any others way to tease the thickness of a board without a bandsaw?
Not that I'm questioning The Bearded Viking, but what was the cost of the wood used for the turtle? I know that you didn't use the expensive burl but $40 doesn't seem to leave much margin.
I think the borough would be awesome
If memory is with me.. It's called burl not borough
lol yes 🙌

Haha Adadabaglue 🎉🎉🎉🎉 thanks bro 😊
That’s actually pretty cool!
I’m gonna check out that NW timber. 🤘🔥
Myrtle turtle!🐢
Add the Merle to the back put some holes in the barrel and you can put roses in with your vases
That's one cute turtle. I agree with you on that burl though will look better without the walnut. Great video brother.

Great idea bud
Leave it flat for a plant or candle
Turtle Turtle! Cool project
Hahaha
😍😩😍😩 my tropical heart is loving this tutorial soooooo much!...
Thanks for showing us how to do it.
🫶🏾❤️Another favorite video of yours. Thanks my friend!.
lol thanks Tamy !!!!!!!!!
NICE JOB, LOOKS GOOD, CAN'T TO SEE WHAT YOU BUILD NEXT TIME.
Those cookies look amazing yo! Nice video brother!
Wow that turtle is freaking cool af !! 🎉
Was thinking it the whole time. Use the cookie!
Haha 😂
Just had to say, 🐢🐢🐢... Ok I'm getting back to watching now 😄
Haha
I like the burl!
Me too
Turtle power❤🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
🐢
Really different video! I'm all for it!
Thanks Daniel!
Murtle that turtle 🐢
I think your turtles walnut should've been ran through the table saw at 1/2: or whatever square to give it character. Keep it up enjoy your videos.
I really like the burl. It's awesome! Hopefully you get burls in each mystery box! Otherwise you will have to find a supplier for burls! People also like frogs and bears too
Oh yeah 🙌
Very cool idea
I like it without the burl, I'd keep one myself and add a string of turtles plant on top😊
Hear me out... A set of Ninja Turtles.
Hell yes 🎉
I actually thought you were going to add the burl on. I'd love to see the second turtle 🐢 with the burl 😊
I have my own idea for a spin on this 🤔 💭 Can't wait to try it!
I’ll do it during a live one of these next live streams in the future
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks Sounds great 👍
OR, try a conch shell. That's what it looks like to me.
I think it has more utility without the burl, be it different size plant stands, candle holders, or some such. Would you keep the burl rough or sand it down, or try to turn into a smoother shell shape even?
Indeed

Hey hey 👋 lol thanks bro , working on a valentines project now and then yes more mystery wood projects to come
Looks good nice idea could have run the shell over the saw blade put a little dip in it and used it for a change or key tray nice video
Yep
Cowabunga dude. You should make a bigger one to serve pizza 🍕 on. 🤟🇬🇧🇺🇸🏴
The burl qould look great, but be also a great project for a bottle opener especially if you make the head able to slide side to side a little bit
Ahhh 😯 that’s a good idea
Love it flat and with the burl.
On one of the next ones I think the top piece should have the chamfered edge on all sides
Agreed ⬆️
The burl is nice. I was thinking you could make him a cup holder.
Well. There are two ways to go about it. Leave it flat to put things on it or add the burl for a turtle shell type thing. I would do both and sell them as a set. Problem solved in my opinion. Awesome vid bro.
I had been hoping for some new projects.
Thank you again brother
That a boy, Jimmy....😊
He's cute! I love turtles. Can't wait to see the one you do with the Burl and the modifications you add. Keep em coming Bearded Viking Woodworks 💪🏼🔥💜🔥🤘🏼
Kat !!!🎉
@Bearded-Viking-WoodWorks Hey D hope you're having a good day 💜
Like the burl for shell idea
Yet another great video. Rock on bro
I was thinking burl before you mentioned it.
I say you leave it as is and put little succulence on top as a display. Then you can make a second turtle with the burl on the back with randomly placed holes drilled in the top as a pen/pencil holder.
I say I like that idea
Candle holder on top of turtle 🐢
Indeed
Do another one with the burl
My first thought about the burl… if a piece is thick enough, hollow it out to make it a “cover”. So the shell would be a lid and something could be stored under it. Even cooler would be to go a bit further and make the turtle so it’s also a container… with the burl being the lid / removable shell.
Oooooooooh that’s the best idea I’ve heard yet !
Killing it lately my guy!
Hey there you are !!! Can you email me please , I need to get your address one more time , I’ve got yours ready
I think either way will be nice af. Good work Dan
Hey thanks 😊
@ no thank you for all you do for us. I’m so inspired by your channel
Cookies!🍪
lol
You should etch the flat turtle shell with your laser to look like a turtle shell
Indeed
Fantastic project!!!
Could be a turtle coaster 🤔
Indeed 🧐
I think both would be gorgeous
Interesting project… it does seem to be a little ‘primitive’ in design but I guess the people want what the people want. Thanks for sharing.
lol 😂
Wowzer
Did you say Burl? Is that the tree with the big knots in them? I have alot of it on my property... what do you do with it?
Burl is a deform that looks like a tumor on a tree , is that what you have ? If they’re big enough you can do end tables with them, I use them for bandsaw boxes and such
🐢Love it!
Thanks Barndo
Add the burl, cool either way
Like your videos. Keep up the good work. I would like to make a few videos myself, just don't know how to begon.
Just gotta start bro that’s it ! That’s what I did
I think the burl would look better if the turtle would have a more rounded body.
Agreed
I like it with the Burl but also like it flat 😂
With the way you cut those plugs to use as dowels, do you think there might be some issues with the grain running across them like that? I'm genuinely curious... I'm pretty new to woodworking. Love your videos, by the way.
@@BudgetGunsandGearReviews if this were a toy I’d be more concerned but no not concerned at all . Great question by the way
Makes sense.
I like without the ,but round over the edge.
What if????? One or 2 holes made with Forestner bit, the size of tea candles? Set in Tea Candles and have Turtle Tea Candle base????
Yep
Very nice. LETS GOOOOOOOOO!
yeah, that one is fine without the burl
I would of add the burl
Let’s gooooo
Just out of curiosity why do you use shellac over polyurethane
Shellac is impossible to mess up
Leave it flat!!! But I like it!!!
Thanks brother Phil
Where’s my mystery box 🤷🏻♂️😂
🤣
Awesome video, as always man! I have a question for you. I’m a beginner woodworker, with a bunch of tools, but I’ve been thinking I need a planer/jointer lately. What is the best bang for your buck, entry level jointer in your opinion?
No , get the planer , you can joint wood with a table saw and a jig fairly easy , I’d get the planer first
@ is there a certain planer you would recommend? The dewault suitcase ones, or should I save my money and go with a bigger one?
Yes put the burl on his back.
Yes, burl! When I saw it, I just assumed you were going to use it.😢
I love iit with the rounded pice for the shell but how can you keep making them that way
Allso is there any others way to tease the thickness of a board without a bandsaw?
Hand saw I suppose
should make one with feet underneath so looks like its walking
That’d be cool
First 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Burl it!
Not that I'm questioning The Bearded Viking, but what was the cost of the wood used for the turtle?
I know that you didn't use the expensive burl but $40 doesn't seem to leave much margin.
That’s why I said $65 , out of the wood I used to make this maybe 12$ worth of wood and that’s maybe ,
The burl
put the burl on it
I'd leave it flat and bore out a hole for a candle...
Yes 🙌
Just make a new one
That’s what I said I will be doing 😊
You don't. Use the burl as a body, then put legs etc.
That's a lot of wood
Ain’t it !
