This really is a hidden gem series for percussionists! My band teacher showed me and the other percussionists these videos to explain most of the instruments and it helps A LOT with a video.
My favourite part 1:13 WOW. I watched it 6 times and can't stop. But I don't think I'm ready for 1:25. I cannot be held legally responsible if you dare to venture to 3:03
Despite all the ridiculous comments, these old videos are still relevant and useful for players today. Too bad many aren’t taught how to produce good sounds on these instruments.
True. The way percussion is taught by most middle and high school music teachers often completely disregards technique on the easier percussion instruments. This probably is because few music educators choose percussion as a second instrument during their music education training in college. It's presumed to be enough to focus on rhythm, which i suppose is fine if you're teaching very young students - but not in high school, especially if you have a student who shows musical talent playing percussion. (I once was one of those students. I'm now an educator.)
It hadnt occurred to me until now, but yes this kind of video surveying the full range of techniques for an instrument would also be great for composers looking for a range of sounds.
Any good Philharmonic Orchestra Conductor will insist that you have at least 2 #1 Phillips screw drivers to use as beaters and also to make repairs or tighten your triangle.Also if you break one screw driver you have a spare. I mean someone might steal it or maybe borrow it and forget to bring it back. You should be prepared for any emergency. Another thing to worry about is don't leave your triangle outside overnite. It will rust. More information can be found in my 2 volume series. "Triangle Repair and Maintenance". .
Triangle rings out to huge effect in third movement of Brahms stupendous fourth symphony. Enjoy now because as ears age they might not hear it so well!
So many triangle jokes from nonmusicians. Yes, triangle is one of the percussion instruments that takes the least amount of time to master - for percussionists who need to master countless instruments.

@David Gray I'm only a trianglist.
When selecting a triangle, make sure to choose whatever one the music store you're in happens to carry.
