How many years has this old girl laid silent?? Through all your hard work you have bought her.back to life !!!!!!! Brilliant to hear her running again. Bloody well done to you all. What a brilliant effort 🙂🙂🙂🙂
The first plane with a vision of the future take take off performance, still the greatest climber, and the first jet that took my breath away. Many can recall the footage of the apparently sedantry looking take off, wheels up and then sits on its tail and goes near vertical till out of shot!
Marvelous! I was an early member of the Lightning Association and attended several 'open days', when the engines were run up and into re-heat, and taxied around the hard standing in front of the hangars. Even got to sit in the (tiny) cockpit! What became of Charles Ross? Visited his home where he had his own museum and at least one Lightning in his garden. It's been sad to see how XR724 had been neglected since those days, so it's refreshing to see the old girl cleaned up and engine running again. Such a shame the QRA shed at Binbrook couldn't be acquired to help preserve the aircraft, as was done at Bruntingthorpe. Again, such a disgusting shame what's happened there, after all the years of effort and money spent. Now all the hard-standing and runways are long gone. Good luck to you all.
Marvellous achievement, well done! Any chance you can tell us where you are and what it is you are hoping to achieve in the description of your videos?
