Michel Chapuis est l'un des plus grands organistes français de notre époque. Connu dans le monde entier pour sa carrière d'interprète à la discographie abondante, il l'est aussi pour sa grande maîtrise de l'art d'improviser. Paradoxalement, Michel Chapuis a très peu tourné de vidéos ou de films. Avec la série Notes personelles, Michel Chapuis comble cette lacune en nous apportant son point de vue en toute simplicité et avec sincérité et finesse. Dans ce second volume, Michel Chapuis fait, par exemple, revivre l'atmosphère de l'inauguration de l'orgue de Poligny par Lefebvre-Wély et montre la construction d'une fugue d'école au XIXe siècle...
Ses propos sont illustrés par des improvisations exécutées sur deux instruments français prestigieux, tous deux construits au XIXe siècle par les ateliers Cavaillé-Coll et Michel Chapuis nous en dévoile quelques particularités.

Michel Chapuis is one of the greatest french organists of our time. Famous worldwide for his career as a musician with an abundant discography, he is also known for his great mastery of the art of improvising. Strangely, there is very little video or films of Michel Chapuis. With the "Personal notes" series, Michel Chapuis fills this gap by giving us his point of view with simplicity, sincerity and refinement. In this second volume, Michel Chapuis revives, for exemple, the atmosphere of the inauguration of the Poligny organ by Lefebvre-Wély and shows the construction of a fugue in the 19th century...
His words are illustrated by improvisations executed on two prestigious french instruments, both built in the 19th century by the Cavaillé-Coll workshop and Michel Chapuis reveals some of their perks.

Not a cathedral, but an ancient Abbey Church, now secularised.
However the instrument is a late masterpiece of C-C.

Not that I know of. I do intend on making transcriptions of all of these, but am not in that process right now.
