Hi from Sweden. Nice to see a familiar piece of equipment. I have been using a Kubota ZD-21 at my old work for four years. They bought it second hand and has now 3300+ hours with very few faults during these years. A true work horse.
The 2-cyl version of that engine can be found in Carrier / Comfort Pro APU's that you would install on a truck or RV for AC and DC power, and heat and air con. Those little engines are bullet proof. They will quick-start without the glowplugs if they aren't too cold. The nice thing about them is that you can run 5w30 to 15w40 in them, and the high detergent 15w40 won't chew away the seals and leave it leaking everywhere.
kubotas allways the #1 most smartest and reliable brand on the market plus they make the life easyier for maintance and service on wich other brand is a major night meirror and hard to acess to wich kubotas are 100% easyier
Looks like a well thought out design, I too like the info under the hood, make it easy for those who use them constantly to help keep them serviced by knowing what needs to be done and when and running in good shape or at east know when to get it done by someone if they couldnt do it themselves
the original zd series good but they had their problems. if you are on perfectly flat ground you'll be ok. if not get the overflow tank kit. get the one from kubota. that set up needs to be overfilled so the bevel gears dont cause aeration of the oil and cavitation in the hydros. i worked on these for more than a decade and can tell you they will destroy themselves. zd300 series fixed all that
I work on commercial trailer refrigeration that uses kubota engines and I have units still going strong with over 30,000 engine hours on them with little more than regular oil and filters
Kubota is a great engine I’m am a welder repair technician most engine drive welders are having kubotas now they are great only one that I have a problem was the owner not having a exhaust tip and water got in the exhaust valves which got in the injector pump and injectors which we have rebuilt from a kubota expert
Hey, I’ve got a 04 Ford Ranger and it has a 3 inch lift with 32x11 r.16 on it with 2 inch wheel spacers, would you happen to know if I could fit 33x12.50 r.16 on it without anymore lift and would it be able to flex enough to take wheeling? Just figured I’d ask before I spend 800$ on tires

Those kibotas weren’t great machines the stamped deck weak and is what you’d expect to find on a homeowners mower , the hydraulic systems were known to fail and they are unitized you have to replace the entire side, one of my friends went thru 2 ZD28s both had complete hydraulic failure of one side by 1500 hrs ... otherwise I love Kubota , there engines are great and most equipment is great the early ZD mowers like this one were one of there weaker products .for sure . We have an M108S /Terrainking at work it’s been trouble free except for a cracked rear rim 1100 hrs so far municipal usage

His point was that the design of that style of lift expects to be higher up before the lifting begins, Kind of like how a pair of struts to hold up a liftgate won't push it up from just turning the key, they need to be helped up to a point before they begin to push outward and have sustaining outward force to hold a liftgate up high. [Edit: liftgate was a poor choice of words, I mean like a hatchback where the entire back door and glass opens up wide, or the post-1990's generation of station wagons, where instead of the tailgate going down like on a pickup truck, the entire back door swings up on hinges, assisted with gas-charged struts that both help with the lifting, and keep the door safely up so it won't close on the user while they load or unload stuff]

Oh I forgot to tell you I feel dogs now heartbeat that is the only thing makes me feel a little bit better I still miss cutting grass but I can't do it any longer girl cable is able but the crane don't go all the way up I can't keep Focus under long enough to be able to be effective Yard Man I could do my yard and make it look like you went to a barber shop and everybody else yard I can't give it all I got because it hurts it hurts a great deal didn't even get in my work truck I also sell watermelons that's just one of the small things that God has allowed me to continue to do because of the inability to Big League that I can achieve my dream but my dreams have been shattered bye add a buy the people which don't want to see African American men work hard as they possibly can and the only thing they think about us is a football basketball a raptor they don't think about us as landscapers or people that can accomplish something besides a microphone and I hand make no mistake about it I miss the smell of the new grass growing and the old grass getting cut and smelling and looking back at the work that you have done that day to what you want to be it it makes me feel good inside but I'm on mobile

The ZD21 was underpowered in my opinion. I cant imagine what the ZD18 must feel like.
