  • Flautist Neil Fisenden with David Wickham at the piano in a recorded performance of my piece "An Idle Voyce" from the cd "The Iridescent Flute".
The title is from Samuel Daniel's Elizabethan poem "The Complaint of Rosamond" : "Esteem not fame more than thou doost thy weale, for Fame is but an echoo and an idle voyce".

It is a song without words, speaking so expressively and poignantly through the melody. Thank you, Phillip :)

That is what music (melody) is to me, a song without words ... melody being more the liquid state of words. Glad yo enjoyed it!

Phillip, what a haunting melody! It is an Idle Voyce that stirs the "Idle" soul inducing placid ripples - each one bringing memories of happier days! Thanks!

Phillip! Forgive, please, this crude and inappropriate way of communicating... The books arrived and i can't thank you enough! I'm enjoying reading about Liberache! I must tell you that my first task in business was to get a desk for ;A Liberache Book Signing in Pittsburgh' at the Joseph Horne department store. He was such a gentleman. I am proud of my TH-cam comment concerning his Polonaise in Aflat which i thought was great. Also! Forgive me for thinking that you might not like Josef Hoffmann's 4th ballade! I am an imbecile sometimes. More so than i like to admit. Hoffmann's "Casimir Hall" 4th Ballade is one of the most exciting performances i have ever heard. With heartfelt thanks to you, Phillip - for everything. (I finally spelled Phillip with 2 l's - it only took me 12 years to get that right_

Really? I am honoured that you have chosen to play it. Thank you! When is your exam? Tips? That's a tricky question. If I were to suggest anything general, it would be to aim for simplicity with attention to phrasing, realising the dynamics within the phrase are determined by the shape of the melody but yes, simplicity above all. Maybe lucid is he better word. Flautist Melissa Doecke also recorded it to CD. You can hear it here:
