I'm amazed there wasn't more backlash over the fact that Jen had very few Asian male contestants. They said it's because they do the casting not knowing who the bachelor or bachelorette will be yet. I guess I shouldn't be shocked that most of the couples don't stay together if they're just randos, I always assumed they were trying to get people who match what the person is looking for, but I guess not.
When the cast list was released, I was so mad there weren’t more Asian men. ABC has always been racist in casting and failing to protect their POC contestants:(
@@catherinechan3313 I feel like they would never do this to a black lead though. They definitely gave more black men to the black bachelorettes and more black women to the black bachelors than they do when it's a white lead. Somehow they can manage it in those cases, but just don't care about Asians.. Idk if it's because they assume the Asian American community won't say anything, or because people are so used to seeing Asian women with other races portrayed in our media, it didn't even cross their minds that she might not want a white guy.
Edited to add: I feel like even putting race aside, Jen's guys were worse than other seasons. There weren't that many solid options. Most seasons have several contestants who are super hot, have all their shit together, and ready to get married (then obviously some wild cards just to cause drama). These dudes were below average looking and nearly all from broken homes which made them ambivalent about settling down. She wasn't given a fair shot. Just think of Charity's season, she had a number of confident, high earning, attractive black men in addition to decent options from other races.

Great work. 😂 What's really funny, the last season of the German show did exactly that: they cast two dudes and called it The Bachelors. (To give the producers some credit, even though these two white guys looked pretty similar, they had almost opposing personalities, but got along well and the concept worked.)

I haven't watched the Bachelor/Bachelorette in years, but if these guys were not chosen, despite checking every box like, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD. The accomplishments --! I swear every Asian parent either wants to adopt them or have them marry into their family 😂
You have to look at who are the producers of the show. They heavily favor yt contestants over POC. 20 something seasons and they get the same bland looking yt men 🤦♀️
Seriously, Asian men are so attractive. Why media in the US continues to want to stereotype them, confuses me. It's like US media is scared to say that they know white men are mediocre. Even US Love Island understands a POC couple is top tier. They only ever had one white couple win, and it was season 1

I've actually met an Anglo surname Yip😂. The history is that his grandmother had an abusive ex-husband, so when she remarried all her children took the step-dad's last name. When he enlisted in the military, I teased him that he finally going to visit his ancestry land and hope ppl don't mistake him for a local.😂
