I owned 2 of them for many years. I bought a 2012 new and after a year my wife wanted one to replace her old car so we bought a 2013. Mine was the standard trim, hers has the Tech Package. We traded the 2012 last year for an RDX. I took her 2013 wagon. (SUV's aren't my thing) I love these cars. The only thing I did was put 18" Sparco Pro Corsa wheels (Tire Rack) on it and replace the standard air cleaner and cabin air filter with K&N filters. The 2012 was bulletproof and so is the 2013. Still get complements on the car occasionally. This video was enormously helpful and informative.

Had a new 2013 one in white until a deer decided to leap into it's next life. I replaced it with a new 2014 one in white and it is honestly the best purchase I've ever made. A little under a decade and just over 100k miles. Personally, I'm quite pleased with the engine and "slower ride" because when I'm in sport mode on mountain roads, it is PLENTY fast, gas mileage is great, and I'm not getting pulled over as much as I used to 😅 Will definitely miss her when she's worn out in another decade! Every time I go to the dealership, all the techs and sales come out and talk about how great this car is and ask if im thinking about trading it in. When I answer no (while laughing), they nod and understand - love that!!

Bought one from a friend in 2019 with crazy low mileage, for an 8 yo car. My older kid now has it, but I miss that girl so much. My 2019 Outback seems like a tank compared to her. Also, when riding with my kid, they drive it like an old person. I'm so tempted to swap back b/c that car is so fun to drive. Not sure why so many people talk about it's slowness off the line or in the 1/4 mile, but maybe b/c I like to drive it in sport mode most of the time b/c of the high rev and treat it like an Acura sedan with a v6. It may not have the CarPlay and the "tech" is almost 10 yrs old (however I have found websites to get aftermarket stereos) is just a fun car to drive around town for the little driving that I do.

The car is great. not ok. it's great. what the car should be compared to is the VW wagon. the TSX is an entry level car. I bought mine new in 2012. I have 70k miles on it. I keep a log book of every maintenance item, right down to the wiper blades. Absolutely love this car. I don't ever intend to sell it. I replaced the front seat covers and the center armrest cover as the leather started to crack. I did tweak the idle speed. The car moves when you ask it to so no complaints there. Absolutely a great highway cruiser. I have a Corvette for go fast days but this is handsdown a really comfortable and tight drive.

I bought new and still own a 2014 Red TSX Wagon. Regular maintenance and no issues so far. I like the extra storage (It can carry 10 ft fence rails with all the windows up), and the 4 cyl engine is zippy enough for my needs. I replaced the tire inflator with a spare tire kit for about $100 and thankfully haven't needed it thus far. I get regular compliments and questions about it. One guy in a suit wanted to buy it out of the driveway, but I sent him on his way. From what I've read of its reliability, I expect to drive it at least another 9 years.

76K on my blue `11 wagon - debadged the "TSX" off the back, which still catches attention ("Acura makes a station wagon??"). I have a pesky parasitic current draw issue and had some recurring problems with the Bluetooth hardware (which is a known issue with its Broadcom chipset and static electricity). Just spent a month in the snow on Mount Hood with 'new' (to me) Blizzak tires mounted on 16" Acura rims (which just clear the brakes!). Drove it 700 miles to California and got ~33 MPG (including over passes and through storms). Absolutely LOVE this car (as did my late wife, who frequently preferred it over her Kia, and my late mother who I originally bought it for). My first car was a `91 Integra GS with 344K miles on it when my friend got drunk and totaled it. Despite mechanical wear and tear from many winters in Boston, oil changes were easy and the engine still purred like a kitten, three timing chains later, so I figured this car would be reliable - what I didn't count on, though, was the Japanese propensity to copy German engineering, and sure enough, the complex CAN-based electronics have been hard to troubleshoot. (Previous car was '01 Audi S4 Avant, which was a blast to drive but ultimately WAY more trouble than it was worth). #AmericaNeedsMoreWagons! 😎

    • @shreddagorge
      @shreddagorge ปีที่แล้ว

Oh, comparing the TSX to the Audi in the snow. Quattro has a clear advantage over FWD when getting unstuck after hours on the mountain, unquestionably - the Acura simply requires more snow-shovel time (and sometimes traction straps). The S4 had massive brakes, which even its 17" wheels barely cleared, so I had to run wide, low profile snow tires... which are terrible in the snow! The back end of that wagon would come loose frequently, requiring ESP to correct (it's kinda startling when it kicks on). Overall I can drive snowy roads with more confidence in the Acura, ironically, with the 205/60/16s, swapping back to 225/45/17s for better dry pavement handling.

Sold from 2008 on in the UK as Accord Touring but trying to find a petrol 2.4 manual 6-speed is now difficult. Many were diesel automatics which ended up in the hands of private hire cab owners. 300k on the clock is not uncommon. The high max torque of 350 Nm @ 2000 vs 192 Nm @ 4100 for the 2.4 petrol suited the wagon.
Those wanting a Honda normally went with the CR-V which was the big seller.
BMW, Audi and MB were the volume wagon sellers and easy to find used.

I wish we got the wagon in manual. I have a 2010 TSX sedan with a manual (and tech package which gives the ELS system, Navigation, and rear camera) and it's fun enough to drive, but like you said it's slow. Also interesting how you say the seats and ride is stiff. My TSX feels plush compared to the ride in my E63S, seats included. Even with Nappa leather, the E63S has much firmer seats than my TSX does. I agree, the TSX sportwagon is one of the better looking wagons in my opinion. Some can definitely look like a hearse, but Honda got it right with the proportions and rear end

Thanks for an informative video. We bought a 2011 TSX Sport Wagon in mid 2022. It's the Tech package, and i was surprised how much I like the power rear hatch. The sound system is as strong as I'd need, after adding an aftermarket Bluetooth input. This is an all around excellent near luxury/ near sporty daily driver car for us. The K-series is plenty of power, though I do agree the manual 6 speed would have been great if offered. We were also looking at the Acura RDX SUV, newer years. I had a guy watching out at the dealer auctions for a Sport Wagon, and I'm glad he came through. Low miles, and you could just tell that this car has been loved and cared for, with just a few tasteful refined mods. I felt it was a bargain especially compared with SUVs. Have/like a 2013 with navigation, white. Found it on the www two years ago at a Toyota dealership with 26,000 miles on it in like new condition. Was one owner dealer serviced. I was looking for one knowing Suits me good with being a out door enthusiast to carry all my gear. Could definitely use more power. Me Coming from a Acura TL, gsr, Integra other Acuras. Each I've owned for many years put hundred's of thousands of miles on. The tsx wagon performance, build quality is definitely not as good. But.... Me at 59 years old no worries. To make this car a little more perfect ...for me. Upgrade The performance six cylinder or turbo, upgrade build quality to like ride of my TL type s ,all wheel drive along with better bass from sound system.

So this footage is only available to journalists for illustrative purposes, it’s tough because with most of these older cars, they just delete the old footage since manufacturers don’t care about used cars or used car sales they just keep the new car footage up 😅

Lol funny that I'm seeing this video now I didn't even know a wagon version of that car existed til like 2 weeks ago. I live in Canada we only got the sedan version up here. I saw one driving around my city the other day I was trying to figure out what car it was and I recognized the front of it. I didn't get to see the license plate but I figured it was from the US after I did a quick Google search and saw the wagon was only sold in the US

Acura: we suspect the TSX wagon buyer will be an older gentleman, married, with children, or someone with an active lifestyle like a cyclist or a cross country camping enthusiast.
11 years later: Me a younger male, single, no children, somewhat of an active lifestyle style.
Also me: slammed his 2011 TSX to the floor and goes to car show😂

I agree with this video, especially regarding the insufficient horsepower. He is not asking for a European engine, but he simply states that it was a missed opportunity to become a better contender in its class just by offering the same very capable six cylinder engine with AWD which was already being offered in the TSX sedans. This car could have greatly benefited from increased horse power because wagons are excepted to haul more weight, not to mention its own weight of almost 4000 lbs., I believe. I also agree with some reviews that it can do without all the changes if you are budget conscience and prefer reliability over performance. One can be more than satisfied with this car than its European competitors who fail miserly in the reliability and affordability of the maintenance if the high performance is a secondary demand. Unfortunately this car remains to be a city dwelling, errand running grocery getter rather than having the opportunity to offer a fine touring engine capable of going cross-country without blowing a gasket trying to get it up to the speed. My wife and I along with my son and Pitbull have owned 2014 TSX wagon with Tech package. It has been a very reliable, practical, and nifty family car with fully loaded with convenience features as offered in its Euro competitors minus the performance features such as Six cylinder or turbo powered engine, Stick-shift or higher gears and especially the AWD system which is crucial in severe weather and bumpy roads. It is now at 130000+ being used by our now 30 year old son. We are currently looking for a comparable replacement such as Subaru outback or Audi Avant or All road- because they are half the price of TSX Wagons in the used car market. This video and commentaries are very accurate and fair. Like he says the car is what it is. It offers a lot more than many others out there regardless of its performance shortcomings, but most importantly the peace of mind that even if it breaks down, it won't break the bank although I am still paying the installments from the catalic convertor replacement, engine mount service, wheel bearing arm replacements total of $3000 to PEPBOYS Los Angeles.
Just for reference: I have previously owned trouble free 1992 and 1995 Acura Integra, as well as, 2002 Audi A4 Avant wagon AWD stick shift and 2004 Audi A4 sedan with hefty maintenance expenses.
